Paris, We have been long distance friends since 2005...never have you been anything but kind and helpful in the FIT.
You are one smart cookie...and Beth saw that also. Please do not let the ravings of a stranger hurt you. I have taken many
"hits" as you well know.....But, as my dear ol' Mom, age 92, says "consider the source...ignore..and some people just like to
hear themselves talk..".... I may be an "armchair searcher"..but, partially my personal rationale for even delving into this mess,is as some might recall of my own "capture"..and how it was handled. I am going to be 69 years old any minute....and I still feel and remember my personal fear. Standing ovation to you....applause ..applause..and in unison to the callous....Phhhfftt...!
Go ahead.. Judge me Nuts......(wringing my hands)

It's after midnight, would you settle for a sitting ovation until tomorrow?

:-p

Shack, glad to see your computer seems to be functioning. I was starting to worry. Hope you're up at your summer place, fighting the good fight against the flying black teeth.

A few days ago, in a small effort to find out what might have happened to Maura Murray, I asked a simple, respectfully and politely phrased question of a uniformed UMass police officer about a parking spot. As a result, I am suddenly and inexplicably banned from all UMass property across Massachusetts – plus any roads that pass through UMass property. I cannot use the UMass library. I cannot attend concerts, lectures, or sporting events. I can get ARRESTED simply because I insist on using the UMass library!

Yet when I report this news to people who say they want to find Maura, I get royally pissed on by almost everyone on this forum. Who among you has to give up library privileges, concert opportunities, and most local public transportation for two years (or, potentially, longer) because you tried in a very law abiding way to find out what happened to Maura Murray?

Not one of you says, "This is wrong." Not one person shows any support for the basic need to access normally public information – information that could help establish why Maura is missing.

The numbering of parking lots is not a state secret. Yet I am punished as if it were. I am treated by the UMass PD as if I were a Level III sex offender or a threat to public safety. And then I am pounded on this board for declaring my outrage.

You – you who say you are so interested in finding Maura – are, in effect, siding with the UMass PD's effort to suppress access to helpful information about Maura's disappearance. Why? If I am trying to gather only the most basic information about Maura's life at UMass, and I get badly punished for it, shouldn't there be some sense of outrage by other posters, some registration that this is wrong? Instead, I am regarded as a pariah.

This is NOT about my losing my own personal access to the UMass campus. This is about a heavy-handed effort by the UMass PD to suppress information about the disappearance of Maura Murray. Why do the posters on this board almost immediately swing into line behind the UMass PD's effort to keep an ordinary citizen of the Commonwealth from asking about a parking lot number?

My being an obnoxious loudmouth may be a pain in the butt, but it is not a threat to public safety. However, silence, which is the voice of complicity, IS a threat to public safety. And to our freedoms in general.

If you oppose violence against women, then stand up for access to public information that will help discover what happened to Maura Murray.

Hey Beagle,

My guess is that you are referencing me.

Firstly, the information was made public for everyone to review and read on Maura's forum, sorry you didn't read it for yourself.

I only asked if it was determined if the crack was from the inside or the outside - taking the prior notes into consideration about the crack possibly being caused by Maura's arm or hand.

I'm not a PI but I do wake up to the reality of the missing and murdered and hope to channel my energies in specific ways that may be helpful to law enforcement and the families of the missing and murdered in the future.

I am thanfkul for the fact that I am surrounded by individuals who work in many different aspects of LE who are always willing to listen and offer their support whenever I bring up the missing and murdered throughout. Those whom work in LE understand the lack of attention missing persons receive.

Yes, there are (9) missing persons cold cases spanning back many years here in my area and I think about them as well.

I have a one year old golden retriever that I am working through the puppy stage at present in the hope of him qualifying for formal SAR training.

My last dog - a 140 pound black lab - was an older dog I adopted from the pound in 2005 that had the natural ability to find bones. When it finally dawned on me that he could be of value during searches he was diagnosed with cancer and died.

All of my hopes and aspirations will hopefully come to good use on a volunteer level and nothing more.

I really don't know what to tell you. I don't trust you as far as I can throw you and will never forgive you for the stress and hurt you caused Helena.

Maura's case is an active criminal investigation -major case and I've always respected this.

Um, no, Beagle, actually you didn't. Only five people have posted anything at all since then. One of them, gvmeabrk, posted something directly in support of you:

"BEAGLEBART,

I am really concerned for you [sic] safety! Please protect yourself."

SnowWhite posted something that was not at all related to your news, but was responding to an earlier post.

I myself posted that the news was "interesting, to say the least." I chose those words because I don't really know what to make of the no trespassing order. I didn't particluarly mean it to sympathetic or unsympathetic, because I'm still trying to sort through the weirdness of the whole situation and figure out how and why they decided to enact such an order.

The entire board hasn't pissed on you--for one thing, the entire board hasn't even been around, and I suspect that your outbursts in the last 36 hours might have something to do with it.

If you look back objectively, most of the posting in the past 24 hours has been by you. Whether or not you feel you have good reason to do so, those posts are almost exclusively attacking people for everything from not being a used book and art dealer to living far away from either Haverhill or Amherst, to looking things up on the internet because we do, to asking questions rather than providing answers. Interspersed with that are random asides about cross-dressing, Robert Durst, etc., that I for one presume to be some sort of manic humour (of the "tin-foil hat" variety) but frankly, most of us probably don't know what to make of such outbursts. I sure as hell don't.

Are we grateful to you, that you live in the area and do some of the legwork that we ourselves are unable to do? Yes, sure.

Are we appreciative of the fact that you took one in the teeth in the effort for justice for Maura? Undoubtedly.

Does it suck that you are now inconvenienced in ways that people who don't live in a college town likely don't understand?(I live in one and work in another, myself.) Completely and undeniably.

What is it you've hoped to accomplish since turning from Beagle the guy who's asking the right questions, out there on the streets finding answers (and getting in trouble for it, like it or not) into Beagle the guy who flings accusations seemingly out of nowhere--art theft, chemical plants (as it was last time), COS (whatever that is), aliens--and what are we to do with all this information without a context, and coming as it does? How are we to swallow that when, with all due respect, you sound like Fox Mulder drugged and screaming about conspiracy and little green men?

Please, Beagle. Take a step back, take a deep breath, and calm down. You're much more effective when you're behaving rationally and not lashing out at anything that moves.

If I shoot my mouth off on this board in ways that are hard to understand, that has nothing whatsoever to do with the reaction of UMass PD.

REPEAT: THIS IS NOT ABOUT ME.

This is about how sensitive a simple parking lot number is to the UMass PD after they realized my question pertained to Maura Murray. I gave no indication why I was asking about the parking permit beyond trying to establish the time it would take to drive from SW to Mattoon and back. The officer did not seem to think my question weird or troubling or unusual when I asked it.

Once again, this is not about me. My sacrifices, while very important to me, pale beside the need - RELATIVE TO FINDING MAURA - for simple information like a parking lot number to be available TO THE PUBLIC.

I am not looking for a pat on the back. I am trying to tell you all something about the sensitive nature of Amherst. UMass PD is very, very touchy about this. How come?

If the UMass PD is using such heavy-handed tactics to make sure no one looks further into Maura's disappearance, then there is something wrong going on. It's not like I asked them for details about Maura's life or any remotely sensitive or "classified" information. I did not ask them where they keep their botulin cultures. I did not ask them how they would respond to a bio-weapons attack to the campus.

I just asked what lot the Saturn would have been parked in four years ago. To ban someone from the UMass campus for 2 years (or longer) for asking such a simple question should raise more than a few red flags. Their absurd over-reaction demonstrates how sensitive an issue it is with security and police AT UMASS AMHERST.

Hey, one more time, this is not about giving me a gold star. I don't really care about your gratitude or appreciation or anything like that.(It's nice, but not the main event.)

I am simply trying to cite the incredible, inexplicable, wild over-reaction by UMass PD to my asking about a parking lot number.

How in the world can you not think this is relevant? Doesn't it speak loud and clear to you that Amherst represents a major component of Marua's disappearance? Isn't that, like, relevant?

Maura Murray disappeared four and a half years ago FROM AMHERST. Her car was found 150 miles north of Amherst. If the UMass PD finds my asking about what parking lot her car was parked in 4 1/2 years ago such a sensitive question, then that should confirm that Amherst is a major part of the puzzle.

Furthermore, it should tell you that basic free access to simple information like a parking lot number is being denied anyone who asks. This is unacceptable.

The issue here is Amherst and Maura Murray, not MY having been banned from UMass property.

From what people have posted in this forum (just reread it), it sounds like at least several posters have been contacted by MM's family and good friends. One of them I guess could be Beagle who most recently posted he got a call from Sophie Bean???????? It feels weird, like some behind-the-scenes political drama is taking place. Why not just let things progress as they may?
Those who have known me from MMM please note how many times you've ever seen me use all caps.

BEAGLE BART - I WAS AWAY ALL OF LAST WEEK CAMPING. I DID NOT POST HERE FOR WELL OVER A WEEK. I DAMN WELL DID NOT CALL YOU OR ATTEMPT TO CALL YOU - I COULD NOT CARE LESS. IF YOU ARE IMPLYING THAT I AM SOMEHOW HARASSING YOU OR SPYING ON YOU, FIND A REALLY GOOD LAWYER RIGHT THIS SECOND.

Euro, just before his departure, asked a truly smart and important question -#2564.(Lord have mercy on anyone who travels to Amherst to get THAT answer in person.) Right after I suggested to him that his question could be answered simply by HIS calling UMass and getting the answer from the SOURCE himself, he took his toys and went home. Why did he want someone else to ask UMass PD that question? He is, after all, a reporter or journalist, isn't he? Isn't that what they do? Don't THEY go to the source themselves?

Or did he already know the kind of treatment someone would receive from UMass PD for asking THAT kind of question? If asking about a parking permit location gets one banned from UMass property for two years, I cannot imagine what would have happened if I had asked about the relationship between dorm security and the Police Department at UMass.

And you wonder why I display periodic contempt for armchair detectives like this? "Sure, Euro, I'll run right over to Amherst and ask all these questions for you and take all the risk for you just so you won't have to soil your polished international journalist's hands." I don't freakin think so!

Quija's quote - as you full well know, from around page 125 - was from you where you said that I had tried to call you and that you and I were "married."
I have been innocently catching up on posts for the past week when I was away, and I was and am totally freaked out by your lunatic mention of me "trying to call you."
However, placed in the context of your behavior on MMM where you made similar attacks and then denied them, to far more people than me, and your crazed ravings over the last couple of days here, it doesn't seem far out of character for you.

Again I say, if you accuse me of harassing or spying on you, get a lawyer. And the neurologist...or simply the medication...won't do you any harm.

Sorry to everyone else...let's ignore BB's paranoid rants and get back to MAURA.

Thanks for your kind remarks. Sorry if I overlooked any previous ones. Actually, the UMass PD can issue a NOTICE OF TRESPASS, as it's technically known, to anyone at any time for any reason or for no reason at all. If they don't like the color of your shirt, and you're not a student or employee of UMass, they can keep you off campus for two years at a time. Renewable.

The important issue here is that they never do this kind of thing. I mean, wow, I was just asking about the parking lot location of a car that had not been parked there in over four years!

It's that kind of wild over-reaction that tells me they're protecting one of their own. Or someone very close to them.

So I'm just waiting patiently here for my next visitor. They probably will not be wearing their uniform then, I bet.
