looking for a moose, I realize that Attitash is not on the route the car ended up, and she was looking at Stowe, VT too. |

Judged: 2 1 1 Saying the person had moved on was, in my opinion, a way to deflect further questions about that particular phone call. I can understand why authorities (UMass or other) would not reveal the student's name, but if the call was about something completely innocuous, why not state that the call was checked out and had nothing to do with Maura's leaving Amherst? It was reported that Maura had contacted a student about returning some borrowed scrubs, so why not tell us that Maura had contacted this other student about returning a borrowed book, or to ask the student to share next week's class notes with her upon her return, or whatever? |

Hello all,
Regarding the Attitash resort at Bartlett,NH, it cannot conclusively be said not to be on the route where Mauraīs Saturn ended up. Rte 112 on which the Saturn was found continues as the Kangamagus Highway east of Lincoln towards Conway. From there itīs only a rather short drive north to Bartlett. Apparently route 302 from Woodsville via Littleton and Bretton Woods to Bartlett is a far better road than the 112 to travel in winter, as has several times been pointed out on this board by the "locals" here. Just by looking at a road map and not knowing this information on beforehand, it would not be out of order for the uninitiated driver to just as easily choose the 112 rather than the 302 when confronted with that choice just a few miles north of Woodsville. Both road options look fairly equal when surveyed on a map as for the road distance. The 112 may even come across as a slightly shorter drive than the 302 or at least not a longer one. In my mind, the question here is: Did Maura - if she indeed drove the Saturn - had a particular reason for choosing the 112 instead of the 302. Was she indeed heading for a place to stay overnight in Lincoln/North Woodstock? Was she just by pure chance opting for the 112 rather than the 302 as a means for going all the way to the Bartlett area? The questions are mounting and the answers are so very few and far between, as always.... |
Judged: 1 According to some reports, the number is simply described as a "dead end." That could mean any number of things. Why is everyone so insistent that every bit of information not known indicates a cover-up? Can't some of it simply be "we don't know"? |

I agree with FireCat. No conspiracy. Phone numbers at colleges and universities are changed faster than dirty socks. (That didn't come out quite right.) |

I forgot to mention that the NO TRESPASS ORDER also prevents me from seeing my neurologist at UMass Memorial Hosptial in Worcester. So, yes, FC, I did take one in the teeth as you put it, but I still don't want your useless first grade gold star.

Actually I thought it came out quite well. |

Yes, he moved to Florida. I don't know why his DNA would have been tested, as I don't know there was any DNA to compare it to..... As to "are there any photos of him online" not that I've seen but you're more than welcome to google and see if you can find any. |

Would Atwood's DNA/fingerprints be taken as as possible last person to have seen her? Or would he, his vehicle and or home be searched for evidence as to her having been there.

Judged: 2 2 1 Tea n Crumpets...but, I see such anger and spite here. Why on earth would a newcomer posting here get judged "Nuts and Clueless".. Soon, all you angry people will only have each other with whom to bicker. Birds80, Welcome to the carousel of snide. Most here just want to solve this crime and see the perp(s) locked up. (wringing my hands to see how I am judged) ..NOT!!! Atwood did move to FL after the diappearance..I am guessing a year later..but, others here with better memory/notes will know. I know nothing of his previous years..He did lie and say that he was formerly with the police, in Taunton, MA. |

Judged: 1 1 1 This sounds like the most reasonable thing I've heard in a long time! Response to other posters: OK, Jigger Johnson I didn't know, had no facilties at that time to "hole up in" for the night. Thanks. Please... why didn't her friends post ANYthing --- it really makes me feel (after that quote in an article by a friend that after Maura turned 21 she became flirtatious after drinking) that Maura may have been torn apart by feelings for a new boy, maybe one who borrowed her car Thursday night 2/5 2/6 when Vasi was hit? I'm sorry to have no facts to present. But I have the feeling Maura was staying somewhere other than her dorm room. What mechanic or other person looked at her Saturn and told her she'd be able to make the 150-mile trip to NH when she felt insecure driving around town? If this did not occur, than Maura was, for sure, acting in desperation. If she got an "OK, but take it easy," well, that might imply a one-way trip or maybe her own plan devised in a hurry to counteract the financial troubles caused by the Saturday Toyota wreck by ditching the saturn out of state. Still seems that something gone wrong with a person accompanying her up north, or her own depression even though "in reality" she had everything in the world going for her, was more likely to be instrumental in her disappearance than a bad guy showing up in front of lots of lit-up houses and witnesses (watching between peeling oranges or whatever) within a few minutes.... |
