Found this on an FBI Bulletin

Although Jeol Patrick Courtney grew up in the Portland, Oregon, area, he has moved extensively during his adult life. There is a high possibility that he has assaulted other victims in the following areas: Albuquerque, New Mexico (7/1994-8/ 1994, 8/1997, and 11/2000); Anchorage, Alaska (1989-1992); Beaverton, Oregon (1986-1992); Bernalillo, New Mexico (5/1995-8/1997); Cape Canaveral, Florida (5/2001-3/2003); Cocoa Beach, Florida (5/2001-9/2002); Grants, New Mexico (9/1995); Pensacola, Florida (5/2001); Portland, Oregon (1980-1989, 1993, and 2004); and Rio Rancho, New Mexico (6/1996-2004). In addition, he is known to have traveled to Mexico via Arizona.

Eurosbserver,

I researched Red Cross Stations late 04/early 05 and have since found that they have all been merged to a Concord address, number, etc.

I did find a photo of one station online that resemembled/or was a small one room school house. That particular station was much further south east between Lake Tarleton and a larger lake on the map. Going by memory, eek. Don't have a map in front of me - Squaw Lake/Lake Squam maybe?!

The actual Red Cross building looked similar to the building in Silky's photo album on Maura's case. I am not sure why Silky took that particular photo but it reminds me very much of the ARC station I noted a number of years ago.

Also often wondered if maybe there is/was a ARC station at the Daniel Webster Council. It was a training camp for LE hopefuls during the 70's and is now a camp for the Boyscouts of America. I believe it is located in Gilmanton Iron Works.

Gosh, it was even fun for three minutes *rolleyez*

Eurobserver, I think - could be mistaken - that the Red Cross card has been debunked. It is REALLY hard to keep track of what has and hasn't been checked! Please don't take my word for it, and I'll try to check, too.

I really am in Vermont at the moment. I'm thinking about Brianna, and it just struck me that her car was found at (in) a barn on a sharp curve, and Maura's car was found near a barn on a sharp curve. Maybe coincidence, maybe completey unrelated. Maybe not?

I always think about Brianna too, that car seen for hours that day just up/down the road from the spot of her backed in car. Symbolism, the barn, the other similarities, I was so spooked when Brianna went missing just 90 miles away and those first feelings are.........usually pretty close to the reality in the end. I've always hoped they checked the Inn for any possible visitor/associates, who could tie back into this mess. I know there were things in Bri's life to add to the list of suspects. But I think she was being watched and especially on that day. Police were slow to act on that one too. Are we so wrong to think these cases are eerie and possibly related?

Actually it was a white truck of sorts, not a car just sitting there in park for no known reason. There was nothing around......

Hey Sophie Bean & Paris,

I own some property up that way, out in the middle of nowhere, and while I've been away a beautiful golf course has been built (wink).

Bought the property on a whim actually, it was just after 911 and it seemed like one of the few safe places left in this world.

Yes Paris,

Brianna stood out for a number of reasons. She was very stylish and pretty. The other thing I'd like to add is that she came from a solid family. Regretfully, loving two parent households are a rarety this day in age.

I believe I spoke with Bri one morning over, a very quiet, breakfast. Enjoyed the fact that the two teenaged kids working at the restaurant sat and spoke with me the way they did.

It has been truly hard not taking so many of these missing persons cases personally.

Earlier here someone close to Maura/her family posted that the box of wine wasn't open, just BROKEN. The info collected for Wikipedia says the box was on the passenger seat and DAMAGED. Over the years there were reports it was OPEN. Well, what the heck was it? In LE photos it would be obvious if it had been opened, the tap protruding.

Still makes the most sense, with Atwood initially saying she seemed intoxicated, LE finding a container with a strong odor of alcohol (outside the car?), the box being on the passenger seat (per Wikipedia) with the easy-to-use tap, her mood, her recent behavior, etc. etc. that the box had been opened and that she might have had some.

This is important in determining her mood, her vulnerability, her judgment, her ability to use her West Point and athletic skills to defend herself, and her intentions. And whenever this is brought up, a small group of people jump to say "it wasn't open".

People who drink would know it would be hard, if you were upset, to have the unopened box sitting there next to you for 3-4 hours without giving in to the impulse to open it. Maura seemed to be drinking and upset in the week before she disappeared.

We really need to know this, although most people I've PM'ed or spoken too feel the box was OPEN.

Oh, and now I just noticed that Cecil Smith's accident report said that the Franzia box was easily visible BEHIND THE DRIVER'S SEAT!

Like Weeper said, you've gotta check out the inconsistencies in the accident report. There are lots. One strange one was that the accident was reported at 7:35PM and C.S. was dispatched at 7:30PM. There are more regarding the driver's condition and I don't know if it's acceptable, but I think C.S. took a fair amount of his facts from B.A., a witness. Aren't they supposed to report what they, themselves, see? Or at least mark it as hearsay or "per the witness"? Strange or sloppy report?

whiston, did you say recently that a police vehicle had been at the snowbank scene earlier? Is that why there was that tire imprint pointed toward the passenger-side hood of Maura's car at about a 135 degree angle (nose to nose, it seems, by the accident report)? WHY WOULD A POLICE VEHICLE PULL IN LIKE THAT? Sticking out into the road (closer to the curve) would've been a HUGE hazard! Rear of his car would've been out to the middle of the road. Unless... he had lights on.... but then wouldn't the Westmann's and others have seen flashing lights? This is getting incredibly confusing.

And how could C. Smith say she was intoxicated if she wasn't even THERE? I think he did take most of his report from Butch!

Watch a police car pull off the road sometime, though Quija. They're apparently trained to stick part of the car (usually the front) back out into the road, rather than park parallel. I've never been able to figure out whether it's in case they have to peel out in a hurry, or to shield the private vehicle and thus themselves at the window of it from getting hit by passers-by. But yeah, cop cars DO regularly stick their butts out into the road. Better the cruiser, which is designed and modified to take a beating, than a private vehicle, or god forbid an officer or a civilian.

No idea about the box of wine, having read both (like you).

Also--I find it extremely troubling that the accident report was filled out HOW MANY DAYS LATER??? One would think, especially given that by this point Maura was known to be missing, you'd hurry that paperwork up rather than wait and take the chance you might forget anything.

Unless of course you're trying to figure out what to include and what not to include.

Yes! I agree with all your points. I thought LE might've angled in to block a person from driving away. But your other reasons, of course, make sense too.(I just couldn't think of them.)

Yeah, it was dated almost a week later... 2/15... And it was such a sparse summary....

There is a sequence of simple facts here. Kids I know (FACT) in elementary school could list them, 1, 2, 3. The only reason things might get so garbled would be if (SPECULATION):

You saw nothing much at the scene and took the word of a witness for a number of things written on the accident report...

There was a previous interaction with the victim and she got abducted right under your nose... and, since I guess it isn't a crime to walk away from her if she was uninjured and the damage to the vehicle wasn't huge, it would be for simplicity and for appearances to leave it out of any report...

You were told to be careful because saying all that you'd seen that night in relation to the Saturn would hurt some OTHER case. And this makes me furious, because whenever they talk about "something bigger", I can't help but feel it's BIGGER, but what about Maura? Particularly if the "bigger" case is only peripherally connected to Maura. Or if they know who it was --- why couldn't they at least tell Fred and family??????????

It DOES happen that family is sometimes told LE-only info. So maybe LE feared Fred, needing answers, might take it upon himself to investigate?

hi quija and all.i am saying that the vehicle that sgt Smith was driving that night was seen at the saturn before the call from the Westmans came in.also what was it that caught the Westmans attention.it was reported they heard a thud then an acceleration.maybe they did but maybe the car had been there for some time before they saw it.someone that was trusted called a dispatcher to send back EMS and FD at the prior accident.if a private citizen called to say the driver had left it would not carry any weight with dispatch and EMS would have gone to the scene.maybe there was no prior acident but what a great way to cover your behind and cancel the EMS and FD by saying driver left in private vehicle.what happened between petticoat lane and goose lane .take care philip

wow, whiston! Your post which I take as fact is making me very uneasy. There's a lot that went on that we don't know about. Whatever you're researching, it's filling in the blanks. Thank you!

If Maura's "accident" was connected somehow to the first event, and part of the goose chase, where is that paperwork?
What about the first accident report? Since when can they pick and choose a public record. I mean Fred wins the right to see Maura's accident report but they leave out the first call because, why? Were the calls related?
If it was unrelated, still wonder WHERE IS IT? If this is public record, can someone *push* for that record too?

Philip, I wanted to say something yesterday.......
Do you really think police were there before Mrs W-Man *heard* the "crash", looked out the window and decided to call? She was over rode about (the man being there) part, right off the get go, why? It still made earliest news accounts and she was quoted as disagreeing with others that there was *not* a man.
She stopped looking when she saw Butch with the girl. I'm confused. She said she saw her neighbor with the girl so stopped looking, and yet at that point Butch still has to walk home mumbling to himself and make his own call. Ok, so she calls police too and later claims the girl was there right up to 2 minutes before police arrived, but she stopped looking. Husband might have continued watching and saw this person still there.......sickening, sounds like a rushed transcript to make things fit.
Butch said her car was half in the road, he could just about see it, it was so dark.
I'm sorry to ramble, I just wondered what makes you think the poilice were already there? I can kind of see it in my mind by the words, witness accounts and am left thinking they really were covering up for something. What else is there? It was Maura's car, the report should have been simple.
We found her car but she must have ran off, accepted a ride isn't good enough. Please God, tell me there's a reason and this person(s) will be caught.

Was the other unmarked official vehicle seen at the site Monahan? We've wondered before. If it was and he drives back to Bunga Road looking for someone on foot, then I think why did the (seemingly abandoned) car have to accelerate and thud unless it were for effect?
Think of the timing....thank goodness for RO

I might not have been clear, let me try this again. The Saturn is there by the weathered barn, it's quiet, noone is the wiser and CS vehicle is there too. Someone sees another official looking vehicle which continues on to look for someone walking on Bunga Road. What would that timing be? Would it be before the attention of an "accident" happening?
