OH MY has given about ten conflicting versions, including a direct accusation which is clearly libelous, of what s/he "knows" - this does not make for any level of credibility.
So back to the question of where Maura might be. I do believe that a local or locals knows the answer, or at least a piece of the answer. The place where her car was found is in direct view of at least 5 houses. I don't doubt that locals may be in fear of someone or someones, but remaining silent does not remove the danger.
Also, LE clearly mishandled the initial call in a shameful way, and now is concealing (or attempting to conceal) records which are in fact public records, not secret documents. There is no ethical, legal, or proper reason to do so, and this makes it clear to me that it is an illegal cover-up. WHY? What is NH LE afraid of being revealed, exactly? Why did LE in both ME and NH cover up the details of Pamela Webb's murder and the subsequent finding of her body in Franconia? Why are there no answers even now in the CT Valley murders? Why have we heard nothing since 2001, and barely a peep then, of the murder of Louise Chaput in Pinkham Notch, NH (less than 20 miles away)? How many more unsolved murders, suspicious deaths (Google Pauline Clark), missing persons cases have been swept under the rug in NH? Why do NH residents appear not to care enough to demand answers?
