No, no. Not us. At least not me. It's what mcsmom might have meant. That's how it came across, but maybe it meant something else. There are a ton of deliberately enigmatic comments made by XM vets here. You have to know the lingo, apparently. In a global, um, somethingorother, it doesn't matter whether you're posting from Sweden (land of my father's people) or from next door. Well, in some cases, next door would be a problem. Don't worry about it. This is America, where xenophobia was perfected with the convenience of two oceans. We're good at it.gvmeabrk,
What on earth makes you think Iīm not posting from Sweden?
Donīt you think itīs possible to care about Mauraīs fate while being on another continent?
Or what?
Iīm at a loss here....
Where is MAURA MURRAY

Ahhhhhh, yes. Cahoon Hollow! Why that's walking distance! However, it's really best to stay in between "real" beaches which are filled with "other human beings". Although it's a thankful, grateful announcement about the search, I don't think I've ever read one that said less! |
|
Beagle F,
What made you know oceanside rather than bayside? Re: The Search Think they looked in really heavily wooded areas? |
|
Forget the oceans (except for GETTING here)! Just think of the genocide in North America! The Search announcement sounded "light" so maybe there was nothing found that eliminates Maura hopefully being alive and well somewhere. |
|
I was wondering about the "really heavily wooded areas," too. I was always amazed that such a sensible suggestion could get virtually no attention. Maybe they had something going on that they were more intersted in at the time. You didn't get invited? Yeah, I thought the search announcement was almost deafening in its silence. I'll have to check out the "oceanside" reference. I always called it the "backside" of the outer Cape. And Cahoon's Hollow is - or at least was - a pretty popular place, especially in summer. I had some great nights in that bar! Oysters on the half shell. A few refreshments. But such a long drive home. |

Topix apparently does not offering anything like PM'ing?

I am not judging you as to where you are posting from. Yes, I agree it is possible to care even oceans apart! That was my take on mcsmom's comment. Just ask her what she meant and you have your answer. |

Beagle,
Thanks for your words there and nice to hear about your Swedish roots! quija, Regarding the recent search for Maura in Haverhill: Judging from the wording of the announcement, it would certainly seem that nothing of interest was found. If so, I also share your relief in the sense that it would increase the likelihood of Maura being fine and well somewhere else. |

gvmeabrk,
Thanks for your post there - much appreciated! So where is mcsmom these days? Not here onboard it would seem... |
I believe she was alive in June 06. Fine and well is in doubt for sure! |

I had scrolled right by the post..it was faint print ...with my old eyes...and not dated. Yes, Firecat email on Prilosec.....Mcsmom..Yes.... |

The crash scene on Rt. 112 and the events immediately surrounding it are the whole story here. This is exclusively a Haverhill story. Amherst is totally irrelevant. Someone in Haverhill said something or did something wrong and that is the key. Someone in Haverhill is hiding something. A crime against Maura occurred in Haverhill and someone there should be talking about it.

The Swedish city my father's family came from. It was intended for Euro and his reference to my family's roots. Sorry if it was confusing. I thought it was like saying "Stockholm." |
|
BeagleBart Thanks, I googled. Nice city.

Sorry..I double clicked stutter...

So I'm told. I'm the only one in my family who has not visited the cousins. "Maybe next year." |

gvmeabrk,
I believe that Beagle might be referring to the town of Helsingborg in southernmost Sweden (just across the Öresund strait from Denmark). Few Swedish towns are so delightfully and beautifully situated as Helsingborg! Perhaps Beagleīs Swedish roots are to be found there? Just a guess! As for my fervent hope that Maura is "fine & well" somewhere, this is written with the implicit meaning of her being physically alive, just as quija wrote of her hope of Maura being "alive and well" a few posts before mine. Expressions such as "fine and well" or "alive and well" do not necessarily imply that Maura would be happy and content wherever she may be - just a very strong hope that she may still be with us, though not making herself known for whatever reason. As for your reference to June 2006 I presume that you are referring to the supposed sighting of a Maura look-alike in a supermarket in NH. My personal view is that this possible sighting would me much less likely to be Maura than the one in the Barton, VT, church a year earlier. Why on earth should a theoretical abductor take the huge risk of taking the victim out shopping in a huge supermarket??? That goes against all reason as I see it. |
