The 2004 NH primary had just ended a few days earlier. Would that mean more motels would have stayed open in the winter that year?<quoted text>
Jigger Johnson is only accessible during the late spring (mud season), summer and fall--it is a state operated "no facilities" campground and is on the Kancamagus Highway. There is no way she was headed there with no heavily insulated heavily heated trailer. To the best of my knowledge, she didn't even pack a sleeping bag! She would know better, even if she wasn't thinking sensibly. If the motel you mention is in Woodstock or Lincoln, yes the person could go 112 because the 302 route could be much longer, but the Kancamagus is a whole different world in the winter (even in the summer at times) than the eastern part of 112 like Haverhill to Woodstock. Many of the motels and even restaurants in Lincoln and Woodstock aren't even open in the winter unless they are very close to Loon Mountain where they will get the skiing crowd.

Judged: 1 1 1 Typically the primary activity is more toward Concord and the bigger cities, with an occasional visit during nicer weather to Littleton or Franconia. |
looking, thanks for the info. Wasn't sure how primary season affected lodging availability.

Hey Firecat, I have tried to post a couple times, they won't post it for whatever!! It reallly is so infuriating, it's funny now...one time I wrote 4 words quoting you saying 'oh crap' and the flag came up saying no profanity allowed...just know I am here, a screaming banshee and I can't get in. watch your step.

Judged: 2 1 1 Shack, I noticed that your IP address reads Gilmanton. Although I'd have to go back through my files isn't there a camp in Gilmanton Iron Works that is owned by the Daniel Webster Foundation that was used as a police training camp back in the 70's. The camp itself still exists and is used by the Boy Scouts. |

Judged: 1 It is always good to hear from you! The things that have been stated about the funders of Molly's Foundation have taken a lot out of me, especially those last statements about COS. I can just imagine how it has made Mr. & Mrs. Bish feel and or Maura's family feel. It took me (2) days to recover from Beagle's posts about COS and SAR Teams. It is amazing how someone can come along and literally suck the life out of anything that is good and just. |

So maybe the Saturn was not parked on campus for one or more nights before she disappeared. Maybe she was staying at someone else place and that's why her room was unpacked? |
|
If Maura went to the Registry of Motor Vehicles and was abducted shortly thereafter, then why not look in some of the more likely places around there? The Damon Road area might be a good place to look. Also, Lane Plant Rd. might be a good place to look. An abductor/car jacker could then just get right onto I-91 from there and head north. Just a thought.

Yes, I believe that. But, the discussion was shut down in a strange way. Just my opinion. |
Judged: 1 1 1 Possible, but is there any way we can check if her car WAS on campus in the preceding week?(preferably one that doesn't result in police action) |

It's probably too late to check security camera tapes for the larger apartment/condo complexes in the area. I'm not sure how far back other security tapes go, but there might be some from banks, ATM's, convenience stores, and so on that show traffic in the background. Not sure how far out LE looked for tapes. Also, there might be a security camera in the RMV (DMV in most other states) that keep their image files longer. It would be really helpful to know whether or not the RMV form was downloaded by Maura on the computer in her dorm room or picked up at the Hadley RMV office. And at what time. There have been several very high-power, high-resolution cameras at the intersection on the west side of the Coolidge Bridge for several years now. I'll bet Mass. Dept of Highways, which is very nearby, would know where those records are, if they still exist. Next time I'm down there, maybe I can ask. But I do want to be careful about interfering with a police investigation. Researching totally public records or looking around public places is okay with me, but getting into more private stuff is not my thing. Somehow, I think there must be a way of knowing more about Amherst that does not interfere with any potential LE investigation and does not involve a lot of snooping around, grabbing people's trash, etc. Reason I mention grabbing people's trash is that the official lead Molly Bish searcher brags online about how much she enjoys looking through people's trash and following them around. She even had a video on You Tube that imitated Frank Kelly. So I'm sure wouldn't want to cross paths with her, either. Learning more about Amherst can only be helpful. It does not require that people with other inclinations cannot concentrate on what interests them. If anything, it's important to cross Amherst off the list. If looking at Amherst, however, elevates the chance that Maura's disappearance has its roots there, then, well, I really don't know what that means. There must be some sort of limit as to how much benefit will come out of this online exchange. |

Judged: 3 1 1 In fact, the more I think about it, the more futile I think checking out things in Amherst really is. Amherst may, on some level, be important, but after thinking about it, I really don't think much can come of it, practically speaking. Getting banned from all UMass property anywhere has taught me a good lesson. Let the professionals handle stuff like this. There really is no room for amateurs in these kinds of things. No matter what happened in Amherst, Maura's car was found in Haverhill. That's really all there is to work with. It's consistent with Occam's Razor, anyway. Talk about coming full circle! Now I've just got to find someone to mow this lawn and peel the tin foil off my scalp. |
