Hey Shack, Had it not been for Maura's family I would not have known about Audrey Groat, Hiedi Dawn Wilbur, Racheal Garden, Shirley McBride, Lareen Rahn, Christina Lunceford, and the countless others whom have gone missing or have been murdered in VT/NH. I was back home when Tina & Bethany Sinclair went missing. Their abandoned Dodge Caravan is still etched in my mind. It just seems a shame that certain cases like Natalie Holloway got daily national media attention for about two years while others do not get so much as thier names mentioned once. It's up to people like us to keep their names and stories out there. Sooz, Thanks for stopping by! I made my blog easy for Shack to read (wink).

Elsewhere.yeh, guess I was one of those who heard of a "Missing"..then head in the sand...forgot....I am not proud of that. Going through the many lists of missing...I found again Dennis Towle who disappeared around Woodsville Ctr. in August 2002. He wasn't young ..or a pretty girl...but I never heard an ending to that....I mean he must have been missed by someone....? Watched Primetime tonight about the girl Denice, in FL who was kidnapped/raped/murdered ... won't relate the story...but, bottom line, the perp was seen driving her....citizen reported to Dispatch...Dispatch didn't relay to cops on patrol....It was referred to as a "missed opportunity" by the Sheriff...don't cha just love it....a missed opportunity!!....delicate huh...? I am always a bit envious when I see media exposure on others. I growl at the TV and say "what about Maura"....? Sooz was here?...sorry I missed her.....Phfft!

looking4amoose, Yes, according to the available media reports I´ve seen, "Raykel" introduced herself to the witness DS who briefly spoke with her in the church. It´s also being (conflictingly) reported that "Raykel" may have been in the process of signing the visitors book of the church when the minister started mentioning fathers in his sermon, precipitating "Raykel´s" sudden departure. Not having access to the visitors book itself there really is no way for us to tell whether "Raykel" ever had the time to write anything in the visitors book or not.

Hey again Shack, No, Sooz stopped by to read my blog. I figured she read this topix forum so I thanked her. Hmm Dennis Towle, an older gentleman who went out to walk his dog and disappeared on the side of the road, his dog was found but he wasn't? I believe Denise was the Sheriff's daughter, the the woman who saw victim fighting for her life in the perp's vehicle (she thought it was a small child - didn't know about the missing girl) called 911 from her cell phone and the call was accepted in another jurisdiction. I also saw that story you mentioned on Maura's forum about the (2) women who witnessed those men rape and murder one of their friends at a party 20+ years ago. They were too afraid to come forward all of those years in fear after being told the same thing would happen to them if they reported it to the authorities.

Hmm.... wonder if she spoke with anyone other than that one person and if they would also identify her as being so sure she was Maura........supposing it was Maura (just supposing) makes the fugue state a reasonable possibility, or that she simply chose to leave her other life behind. Again---supposing, not deducing.

Do you know if that was ever followed up on? How does the the family approved version differ?

looking4amoose & all,
Regarding the possible Maura sighting in the Barton, VT, church in June 2005, I´m personally inclined to think that this young lady could well have been Maura.
If so, I would agree with you that this, IMHO, could support the theory of Maura possibly being in a fugue/"running" state where she may have adopted a new identity. The rather frightening thing with dissociative fugue and similar states of the mind is that this may cause a partial and sometimes more or less total memory loss, in some cases lasting over several years. As far as I understand, the reason for this condition is the accumulation of severe stressors over a longer time frame. When the accumulated stress becomes acute, the brain/mind just switches off some functions as a kind of life- saving measure.
Apparently, it´s very important to keep in mind that a person suffering from a fugue condition must be handled extremely gently. A perceived threatening situation may literally cause the affected person to flee/run yet again due to this perceived threat and the confused identity situation.

My my, someone's getting very liberal with that "Judge It!" function. Either someone has way too much time on their hands and is enjoying it like a new toy, or someone's very cranky and opinionated and is encouraging the misleading of conversation. Has anyone else noticed the particular pattern the judging has taken in the last 72+ hours? Just sayin'. Some good stuff going on in the past few days, though. Patricia--are you willing to trust that the family says it's not Maura? Obviously they know her best, but you're still here, and you still seem unnerved by that sighting. Was there video--is that how family was able to say it wasn't her? I'm afraid I don't remember those particulars now.

Firecat, If the Murray Family can say for certain that it was not Maura, then they know something BIG that we do not know. I believe she was in that store ONCE.

IF ...Maura is still with us, in this world, she would have to make a living...needing identification, SSN. OR she is working "under the table"...OR she is being "Kept". Most of the photographs of Maura that were used for fliers were of her, about 5 years ago. Most of the photos were of what could be called glamour shots. With possible hair change...possible weight gain....she wouldn't look the same today. I wonder if and when the "authorities" decide to do age enhancement and/or using a photo of her in daily attire...like the one of her with Fred on the mountain. Question out loud...if SP/FBI are not even acknowledging...to the public that they are indeed "working on it"..does that mean a cold case? Or what.?...yeh, I know....or what....
Firecat..have noticed the "judging"...some are getting their little joy of clicking on the pictures...it just confirms my thoughts and theories of the past few years.

Yes, the "judging" is not exclusive here - it is also in evidence in the Patric McCarthy forum. If you are concerned about justice and unsolved cases in NH (I think it's ONLY NH, too), you are a rancorous hag (shucks, they haven't put that in as a category yet!!!) and a malcontent, as well as 'nuts''mean' and 'clueless.' As we've said infinity times, I believe that our concern is finding Maura and bringing (any) perpetrators and their pals to justice, period, end of conversation. I have to ask myself, if people are angry at us for wanting to find Maura, and bring perps to justice, that can't possibly mean that they are perps or pals of perps, can it? Of course not. There must be other wonderful reasons - which these people haven't shared - for not wanting to find Maura, not wanting to bring perps to justice, not wanting to solve unsolved murders and missing persons cases in NH. It would really be interestig to know what those reasons might be. Maybe one of the button-pushing naysayers will share their reasons? Shack, doesn't NHSP have a Cold Case squad?

I have a question about dissociative fugue in this case. Maura presumably had her identification with her (drivers license, other items) when she left the area of the Saturn. I think someone in the family had said she carried her ID things in a small wallet or in her pocket, something like that, because she didn't carry a purse. So unless she lost those identification items -- which of course is possible -- then even if she didn't actually remember who she was, those items would tell her. Right? If she had those things with her, I wonder what she would think they *were*, if she was in a dissociative fugue state.

Hello Shack,
As always, I liked your sensible and lucid comments in your latest post, and I agree with your conclusions there.
Just a thought: What if Maura might possibly be across the border in, say, southern Quebec? I´m not sure of the present conditions, but I have been told that for a long time there have been no need for a passport in order to cross the US-Canadian border.

hi Looking4amoose and all ,Patricia d i am glad you are here. The Gary Lindsley article dated feb 13 04 says that Kathleen called mr.Murray from Mauras apartment in kennedy hall the article says that Billy knew on thursday feb 12 04 that the call he received was from a prepaid calling card.that seems quick to me.i have always understood that the family asked Mauras room to be checked with Billy .i don't understand the whole timeline of this was a family member in Mauras room before the police . i think yes .once again amherst has lots to tell.did Maura have a phone in her room.if so she had an answering system .who paid for it and got the bill.as someone said the second forum that was closed was tea and crumpets .the information on it came from and was controlled by Mauras family , someone she never met, but spoke to mr.Murray for guidance.i was banished for asking too many questions about Mauras life before she vanished.what is up with that.very weird .take care philip
