Bacon, I will speak on behalf of the Murray family who have many many gracious thoughts, good efforts, prayers and warmness extended to them from area residents. They are very grateful for the arms that have been opened to them.

Speaking for myself, in the absence of the moderator on MMM, I worked on Maura Murray's MySpace page.

I was overwhelmed, many times, by the number of invitations sent to Maura's MySpace page by area residents. These are area people who sent invitations to the site to be listed as friends on Maura's page. They have always been accompanied by very kind, caring messages.

If they are truly areas residents and left caring messages then it is unlikely that they have read the disgusting things that have been said about themselves and their neighbors and the state in which they live. The people in this area have been publicly named and accused of either being a liar or having something to do with Maura's disappearance.It cannot be denied because it is in the forums for all to read if they dig back some. There were some horrible things said about the locals on the MMM forum and the disdain and disgust was very obvious. There are some trying to turn this forum into another MMM forum but it ain't gonna happen. There are no tents or drinks and if disrespect is shown it will most likely be returned. I repeat this a PUBLIC forum and is NOT the family run MMM.
Listen to Bacon. He/she is giving excellant advice. There are a couple of people here that have agendas of their own and will continue to cause friction. They are not here to help find Maura as much as they say they are.
Think back, way back to the MMM forum and think about all the terrible things that were said about the locals. Now put yourself in our shoes. Would you want to be friends with the name callers or send them caring messages? Really think about it. Please.

No one is saying that there is no CT Valley Killer. There is simply no proof that is/was a local.

And I must apologize again for my abruptness, I can't say for sure that no one thinks there is a killer in the area. I get a little testy before I've had my morning avalanche of caffeine.

Precisely my thoughts. As I've posted elsewhere, if Maura wasn't in / near Woodsville etc, why would anyone from there care? People seem extraordinarily defensive for no good reason. Yeah, but this discussion is about a girl who DIDN'T disappear in any of those states. Not being smart or anything. We are discussing a small town/rural area if I am right. I mean if this happened in K.C., half the population would say heck yeah all those theories are plausible. But in a smaller area, where people know most everyone/each other. I can see why one would get upset. I am only trying to see both sides of the story.

It is a criminal investigation. Just because there aren't indictments doesn't mean the investigation is over and doesn't mean that there isn't PROOF.

If you're referring to the legal sense, no; she was not at fault. If you're referring to moral responsibility and perceived guilt, I think a closer reading of Shack's subtext will refer you to the prison of her memories as sufficient punishment.
