Not sure where I said it was any kind of conspiracy. Just pointing out yet another inconsistency in the "facts" of this issue. So she ran a race for UMass, and the coach didn't remember it. That does NOT mean there's a conspiracy. It means that the coach has had a crap-ton of students since then, and especially if Maura sat out part of a season with a hamstring injury, the coach may well have misremembered.
I couldn't tell you the whereabouts or test scores of my students from four years ago, either.

Judged: 3 2 2 Why do some of you from the old MMM site enjoy trying to make idiots out of the locals that are brave enough to post here? I in no way even hinted that I had a doctorate in anything. If I was an expert then why the hell would I be asking questions which were skirted around but never given a straight answer to by you. And hooray for you elsewhere for having an Associates degree in Liberal Arts and an IQ of 120. Your family must be proud. And you say this why???? For someone supposedly so smart I think it's sad that you would think the good people of NH would put the dollar ahead of everything. It may be that important to you but values and decency I think would be more important. Although the tourist dollar is important it is not the MOST important thing on people's minds. It must be of concern to you though as you seem to be keeping track of it. You also stated that Advocator is right to question these theories and look beyond what's been provided. Isn't that exactly what I did and look at what I got for it. I find your post to be very rude and disrespectful Elsewhere. The reason I lurked for so long on the MMM site and never posted along with so many others. |

Hello paris & all,
Many thanks for your post. I wholeheartedly agree with your words. Let´s all remember what we´re here for: Trying, as far as we can, to find out what happened to Maura. Again: Thank you for your timely message and please, keep posting here.... We need more people like you here, Paris. |

Judged: 2 2 2 Ahhhh! whiston, I understand what you're getting at now --- didn't before. Yeah, it matters. Not off topic, I feel the safest in the woods. Yes, there have been some horrible publicized things that have happened to people out in the woods, but it's 1000% safer than making a phone call outside a convenience store at night. Not that Route 112 with houses around is "the woods". Just that in town, outside a bar, in a parking lot, by a convenience store, etc. is a better place for a maniac to go "hunting" a victim. IMO it's about probability. No signs of a struggle, no yelp for help, witnesses watching here and there. At least several cars passing. Last winter there was a brief skirmish between a deer and a coyote on our driveway and "swoosh" and skid marks in the thin dust of snow were so obvious. I don't think Maura took enough money (from what we've heard) and other stuff with her to run off and start a new life. I don't think judging by her behavior over the previous week or so, and with having brought along some alcohol that she was planning to do much or any studying (even with nursing books in the car). Also, the way she left things (her room packed, her shutting people out of her life, her lies) at UMass, I don't think she'd feel comfortable even going back. I keep coming back to Fred and Billy's early reactions before every move every player made was analyzed. And they, the people who knew her best felt she was depressed and endangered. And again, it's possible LE knows it was foul play and doesn't need to follow up on these other questions... I feel (don't know, of course) as strongly as 2 months ago up in Haverhill that if the area N and NNW of 112 from the intersection of Bradley Hill Road wasn't private, given time, several of us might be able to find Maura way off trail --- it's a lot of area to cover. Too bad the searches aren't open to the public. BB had wondered why that area couldn't be thoroughly combed to at least rule this possibility out. A number of posters thought it was absurd that Maura might've grabbed her backpack and a few bottles and headed out into the woods to lean against a tree and let the cold take it's course. Her father didn't think it was absurd, and he knew her best. |
Hmm.. if what you say is true moose then I agree with you

Judged: 1 1 I didn't mean to imply the coach didn't remember Maura, simply that even if she was on the team and running practices, she might not have remembered if she traveled to/ran in meets. I don't know who organized that circle of hope. Anyone else able to answer that? My impression has been that the only capacity in which the FBI was even invited to get involved was within the Amherst community. My understanding is that they weren't welcomed into the NH part of the investigation at all, for whatever reason. I *do* know that oftentimes there's a bit of a rivalry between local PD's and higher state/fed agencies, so that may have been part of it. And that's not a slam at NH or Haverhill in any way. That's a universal reaction to being told the feds are being brought in. Happens in every state. In fact, the knowledge that the FBI was active down in Amherst is one big reason why I feel confident that more avenues were followed closely there than in NH. |

Hello all,
May I ask for your attention, please.... If you´ve taken the trouble to read my recent post #3612, I would be most keen indeed to hear your reactions as to the two possible sightings of Maura shortly after her disappearance in the vicinity of Wells River, VT. Apparently two independent witnesses saw a girl resembling Maura in that area at that time. I would be grateful to learn whether any of you has seen any kind of media reference to these two sightings before. Thank you for any information you may have about this. I shall be trying to contact the lady who runs the message board in question in the hope of finding out more. |

Judged: 1 Please, make note of the fact that LE apparently brushed away the possible sighting(s) of Maura in the South Ryegate-Wells River area of VT (shortly after her vanishing) as not being "solid" enough leads to warrant an investigation! The witness Katie was not even contacted by LE.... If this is how various, possible sightings of Maura have been "followed up" and apparently dismissed by LE - then I´m truly appalled. |

Eurobserver, I believe that siting was checked out, as I have seen that 'duplicate' of Maura myself and she lives in Groton, it is a chilling look a like experience to see her!

Eurobserver, Be comforted with the fact that she has been reported to LE by many locals.

However, FBI has to be invited by the overseeing jurisdiction to work on the case. FBI involvement stopped when the FBI agent that was working with the Murray family called a family member and told them, as per instructions from NH area law enforcement, that the FBI's assistance in NH was not needed. 1Anne,
Many thanks for your kind responses - much appreciated. I take it then that there have been a number of local, possible sightings, which have gone unreported in the media? The only sightings I have seen being reported in the media, etc, have been the one in the Barton, VT, church and the one in the convenience store somewhere in NH. Could you possibly mention some of the other ones, which may perhaps have been listed on the first MMM board, which I never had the opportunity to see. Many thanks! |

Judged: 3 3 3 Lady Gray, That was my understanding that FBI needed to invite FBI in and refused because they could 'handle' it. I often think how thorough they were in Amherst and not welcome in NH. It is a common curse. It works the same with sherifs and SP, each becomes a bit territorial and believe they can handle it by themselves. I do believe that HPD may have been a bit 'blindsighted' at what went down in their jurisdiction. It may have been frustrating for NHSP to have to take over and they were gungho to solve it. I don't know, it just seems like that to me. |

Judged: 1 I completely and wholeheartedly agree with your last post #3624. It seems to me that LE would be in dire need of some Public Relations professionals in this respect. The impression that they don´t seem willing to communicate with the public in any sense whatsoever is not bound to inspire confidence. That´s for sure! |

Judged: 1 It seems that our judges have been taking a well-deserved holiday over the week-end, having been worn out by their heavy workload. It would seem that you and I are the only ones around here right now, but with such pleasant and intelligent company, I´m certainly not complaining! |
Thanks for the specifics on this, Lady Grey. |
