Thank you! Wasnt expecting the lemon, OR the pie this time!

At any point in time did Fred check out the people involved with the sightings? Or does he depend on the LE to handle all that? For instance Gvmeabrk, did the Murray family ever contact you to talk about you seeing Maura?

Bill - WTF - I thought it was just a pen name for this site, and you were really saying "WTF" about the whole subject. I guess I read too much into it.
Laurie, Anne and others thanks for your passion on this subject. Figured I would light a fire under someone with that church site.
Elsewhere - I like Mike, BUT all this time I thought you were referring to "I wanna be like Mike".........another popular male.........I had forgotten about the "other" Mike. Wasnt that like 100 years ago, or am I older than I thought?
Anyway, enough shooting the bull! Whitewash, the Nelson woman was not the same one I asked about last night, right? Are Grammar check and I on the same page this time?
Now, about Canada, I have never been, but 4 years ago was still after 9/11, so I imagine you couldnt or cant just get in and out, that easy. Dont you need a passport or birth certificate? Please, throw me a couple "X"'s or white bulbs if I am way off base!!!
Hello Half Moon & all,

Regarding Canada, I´be been told by a Canadian friend of mine that it was apparently quite easy to cross the US-Canadian border until fairly recently. As I understand it, back in 2004 or 2005 and even later than that, the border-crossings controls were mostly rather lax.
I have been told that they have been made more stringent as of late, though.

I just checked out what information I could find on the web regarding churches in Barton,VT. In this place of some 2000 people - officially designed a village, not a town - there are two churches in the centre and another one a few miles further south.
The Solid Rock of Assembly church is one of the two churches in the centre of Barton and I´ve seen a picture of it on the Internet once.
It´s quite a beautiful neo-gothic church in red brick and probably quite a landmark in Barton.
I would guess that it would have been an obvious choice for Maura to visit on that Father´s Day in the summer of 2005, if it was indeed her, as I think quite possible.

Now, if this young lady was actually Maura, then it would stand to reason that she probably lived somewhere reasonably close at the time. Still, Orleans County in the far north of Vermont is huge and sparsely populated with just some 27000 people in all.
Just an indication of how relatively "wild" this area is:
The northernmost Interstate 91 stretch just south of the US-Canadian (Vermont-Quebec) border at the village of Derby Line has a daily traffic level of just some 3000 vehicles per day, amongst the lowest traffic levels of any US Interstate anywhere, according to recent statistics. And this is the Interstate....

OMG, I just looked at that link for the church, I mean COME ON. Did you see the Home page of the website? It's screaming for someone to check this sighting out. How perfect for the kind of man that WOULD be holding someone against their will to attend such a church. Someone needs to check this out properly. Seriously, I think she was seen.
LISTEN TO ME!!!!!!! If you dont agree with anything else I have said here. Look at the above post from around lunch time today! Now look where at THREE PM, Laurie tells us the church website is shut down.

I have been looking at the church website off and on for a couple weeks, trying to find info. I had even emailed a friend a few weeks ago in regard to this church. THEN Monday night, after I was accused of being something I was not, I brought all of your attention to their website, including a mens group for sexual addictions that was held at the this same church where there was a Maura sighting, as confirmed by posters here.

NOW their website is shut down????????? Are you kidding me??????? Does this only imply something to me? I asked at the beginning of my posting if you all thought maybe someone here was involved!!! Now what do you all think??? I am ALL set!!!!!!!! THIS is NOT paranoia!!!!!

I am going to go back to reading books and not the computer!!!!!!!

Body found in Nelson, NH, IDd as Nelson woman's
Article Date: Monday, September 29, 2008
KEENE, N.H.(AP)_ New Hampshire State Police say a body found four weeks ago in Nelson has been identified as that of a Nelson woman.
Police say 54-year-old Karen Bartlett's body was identified during the weekend using dental records. Trooper Shawn Skahan says Bartlett was found in some woods the day after police were told she was missing.

I LOVE the Derby Line! My family owns property in St. Etienne de Bolton, PQ and that's where we cross, and always have crossed.......its so small that the border agents actually know me by name and remember my brothers and sisters who now live in Arizona!!! One dayy we were meeting with a contractor and literally had to go back and forth like 4 times....they STLL tease me about it!

It appears here, that every time something is mentioned that does not have initials in common or talk about the events of "that night" that it is judged as spam, off topic, clueless or nuts.

That is too bad for the people who don't want to look at the obvious. Or should I say person. I guess if you dont follow a certain path of discussion you are poo-pooed here. As I said before, a waste of resources. Yes it is easy for you to sit at your computer (you know who you are) and hit the little judging pictures, because our thoughts and ideas dont match your thoughts and ideas.........Thank you to those who encouraged the new people, but the pattern shows that the newer people, are the ones who are stepped over and judged (by some)no matter what they put out there for ideas. Again, a shame to those (and I know there are some here) who TRULY want Maura found.

Grammar Check,

I only read a few posts on that forum and it didn't seem to add up. I went back and re-read the entire forum after work tonite. I thought I knew Silky's writing style but I guess I will have to take your word for it.

If in fact you are right, I had absolutely no idea Silky had any involvement with MMM outside of being a member like myself. It makes sense to me now.

At first she was eager to answer my questions on the board but over time became very standoffish. I couldn't quite understand why and figured she didn't like me for some reason. I was fairly open about who I am on Maura's forum. I'm not implying that I am anyone important but I do happen to know a lot of people in NH so I guess she may have deemed me as a threat.

The one an only time I exchanged e-mail correspondence with Silky, in October of 07, her reply was vague and she wrote, "I'm just a hick".

If it is any consolation, it sounded like she was being honest with me.

It does not take away from her time and dedication to the missing in NH/VT though. Had it not been for her efforts and the efforts of the moderators on Maura's forum I would not have known about all of others whom have gone missing and been murdered in Vermont & New Hampshire.

It shouldn't surprise anyone that pornography is an issue with all walks of life. The churches ask you to come forward if you can be so honest and to go to these groups so you can learn how to live without it.
As for shutting down the site, maybe it's because of all the phone calls and whatever else in recent days? Also, they could be redoing it, but you never know I guess what's really going on unless you document everything.....
I never went to this link, now I wonder what all it looked like.

Sorry, tired, too much going on..........
Silkys parents have all her notes and her computers. Also someone asked if Silky was a victim of a crime, not sure what all it was so cannot say.
Besides, her parents likely read here and I'm sure they wouldn't like this turning into a discussion about their daughter.

Almost forgot, the manager at Silkys apartment made a wellness check and was the one who found her that day. It was natural, unexpected because she seemed to be doing well and should be no mystery surrounding that.

Some churches allow groups to meet on their grounds. The folks that meet usually are not members of the Church itself - its the Churches way of contributing to the community - to provide a place for people to receive counceling.

Not to say that some of the attendees of the meeting don't fit a profile - but I doubt that it would be conducted any differently then Alcoholics Anonymous - YMMV

Well, this was for the men in the church only. They were very tight and being honest to get over it. But yes, I should have that link so I can see what you're saying, I really am clueless to it as it turns out. Can someone repost the link for me and the name again, too tired, never really paid attention before but DAMN, this sounds odd!

I dont understand why I posted the link days ago and no one looked till today. BUT anyway, the link is gone, the website for the Solid Rock Assembly of God, Barton VT is gone, all gone since noon time today when Laurieisgone looked at my post with the link and said OMG, etc. etc...
It WAS there until this afternoon. That is what I was trying to say/ask! What the heck happened? I see some find it coincedental, but I checked some of my past correspondence with someone else, and I have been looking at that site for clues etc... since Mid Sept. So, call it them just updating their site if you want, and dismiss it , if you want, that is up to you. For me? As I said earlier , I will go back to writing books, there is NO doubt in my mind that "they" are reading this site, which I also kept wondering out loud here, only to have one maybe two people respond to those posts.
Paris, The group was.........."F.M.O.- For Men Only - Dedicated to helping men walk victorious over sexual addictions: Total anonymity. We want to help all those affected by sexual addiction.(phone #-topix wont let me post it)- email N84Christ@verizon.net .
Good luck to all of you..........and again call me paranoid, but this is the kind of coincedence that I do NOT believe in !!!!!!

Cavedude,
I'm sticking to my guns, Maura did not run away or commit suicide.
Not committing suicide I can agree on - I don't think she would not have been found by now. I don't even think the police believe this - I think they did that for reasons I already stated.

Running away - well I think it is something that a debate about facts will help investigators come closer to the truth on.

One thing we might agree on [but we may disagree on level of certainty] is that I think it reasonably possible she was abducted after fleeing the accident - or before the car left Amhurst. We probably disagree on _when_ or _where_ this might have happened.

I think this is a classic case of "faith" vs. "analysis." Both positions I think can have a place in a civil discussion.
