quija, is this speculation or do you have information for the Murray family that will help them find Maura? To summarize my long post that was deleted from this board after midnight last night(why?) a few of us interested in Maura, one with military intelligence background, have found the area most likely for Maura to be found. It's away from roads, paths, houses with their lights, dogs and guns, off any trails and in very densely and almost impassible brush. She wouldn't be found there by casual searching. She's north of the SBD's house, noting to do with him, maybe across the river and she was not seeking shelter or warmth. She was evading people and LE. She had declined many offers of help over the previous 5 days, the last one Butch's. Who HERE has the power to delete these posts on an unmoderated board? If anyone knows, please let me know. If anyone wants more details, let me know too. Thanks.

quija,
What is the approximate size of this area? Approximately how many person/hours would be required for a thorough search? Have you provided this information to LE and/or the Murray family? On a scale of 1 (lowest) to 10 (highest), how likely is a search to yield results? Possibly your earlier, more detailed post was deleted so that a lot of people don't rush up there and act inappropriately? |

Quija, This is disturbing and it 'begs' the question, why haven't Oh My's post naming names (and seemingly libelous) posts been deleted? |

I don't think she would have crossed the river, I was not in the country when she went missing, so I cannot say what the winter conditions were for that year, but in the past the river is still open, I have actually gone across the river in february I came away extreme wet and cold. If there was a lot of freezing and thawing there would have been ice build up making it extremely hard to cross.

Rest assured that is not why. This remark is a snide, unnecessary, inappropriate, and untruthful comment. Make no mistake about this, Maura's family's idea is of "possible" foul play. Their hope is that Maura is alive. Perhaps LE would prefer a post like that be deleted. I am not implying that they are editors here. If one goes back through the posts the sequence of post #'s are in order. If a post is deleted would the post number also be deleted? |

Judged: 1 1 1 Well thats you isn't it! I have what I have and it is straight from the horses mouth! I would take your advise if I were you and stay right out of it and go along and mind your own buisness and leave it to the people that know that there are no officers involved in the murray case and everyone has been turned in a direction where the police have been taken off thecase for the most part except for one det. and a lawyer for the state and the childrens gloves are off now ok. If you don't like it leave... |

First there are moderators in TOPIX although they are not as public as in other blogs. I would not be so quick to jump to the conclusion that your post was deleted. This has happened in the past to me I have written a post and it will appear and then be gone. Look at the number associated with each post already here is there a number missing sorry I didn't look myself. |

the numbers are all in sequential order for the last 23 hours if your post had been deleted there would be a post number missing. I believe it is a glitch in the TOPIX software, and it has happened to me before as well. Post it again.

Glad I could help. |
I cannot believe what I just read. I am on vacation, out fishing, last night there was a terrible storm. I was dreaming and I saw maura. All morning I have been thinking that Maura is being held captive but is ok, the feeling is so strong. I have to go out for the day now I'll be back later Quija |

Don't know anything. No facts. Just speculation --- that was all spelled in the possibly deleted post(s). It just seemed like the most likely, MOST LIKELY way things went after spending time there. Lots of houses, some lit, a school bus driver offering help, parents driving by after having picked their kids up after a day of skiing or whatever... Police on the way, even though Maura didn't want them... A few of us thought Maura wanted to get off the roads ASAP, would've avoided (I may have already said this but I figure I'll post quickly in case this post disappears again) houses (dogs barking, lots of homeowners with guns) and took off AWAY from this. With maybe some West Point training in evading detection, seems she'd head away from civilization, east. If she'd been having any wine on the drive up, running would be a nightmare. Unlikely even with her will power, etc. and being able to run a long distance. If she wanted help she could've gone to any house or a mile back to the Swiftwater store. There are several ways off the road east of Atwood's house where she might not have left footprints or where passing cars kicking up sand and salt could cover them. There's a runoff gully.
She'd know to keep to the thickest brush where footprints wouldn't be seen from above. She would not walk across a field somewhere, but travel through almost impenetrable brush. Don't think she could travel more than one mile if she'd been drinking wine on the ride up. Think she was north of Atwood's house (again, nothing to do with him), because Bradley Hill Road is, well, a road, which she'd stay off of, and visibly populated. She did not seem to want knock on a door for help and warmth. All this is speculation and I'm sorry if I got hopes up. After the long original post disappeared I just "got to the point" leaving out all the modifying "if's" "seems most likely", etc. Some of you said you had posts disappear and it was just a glitch. I'll check the numbering since the original post was Friday night-Saturday morning around 2-3AM. Another poster said it might have brought people traipsing up there, and that's a good point. Posting this speculation was probably irresponsible but it seemed obvious at that time. If she didn't cross the river and she was avoiding lit houses, she'd most likely head northwest (from the vicinity Atwood's house) staying on the south side of the river in the densest areas there, and away from the houses across the river and the houses off 112 north. |

At the bottom of the page it shows "showing 601-618" But on this post it shows itself as "#628". That tells me 10 posts have went missing. I could be wrong though. |
Just me,
We posted at the same time just now. I spent time in Haverhill like many others have (just a real lot less time than them). Yes, it's speculation, but it hit two of us so clearly, it was like being hit in the stomach with a baseball bat. Being around the scene, looking at aerial shots ("Oh, God, she's in THERE.") A third friend had the same visceral reaction. I'm sorry, just me, but I didn't get that same hope that anyone is holding her captive, and we don't think she's in the kind of place normally searched --- easily searched, that is. Not off a road, not off or near a trail, not by a field, but in very dense brush. Being cold that night, shivering, not dressed properly, and maybe losing heat faster if she'd had wine, she might be within a mile of the car. Before Maura left she may have gotten rid of cans to be recycled, and that, by the way, could explain that one beer can being loose in her car, if the empties (collected from wherever) were stored there at some point, one getting loose and rolling under the front seat might account for the can found. Checked the post numbers and they ARE sequential. So losing the posts was probably a glitch, but an irritating enough glitch to get me posting more carelessly, more irresponsibly, sorry, again. |

WeWii,
yes, the number ranges "showing posts XXX to xxx" are not correct on the last few pages. You're right. |
