My #1 problem with Maura being at the 'scene of the accident', is that the damage done to her car is absolutely different than hitting the tree, even the snowbank. Looks like a tow truck slammed into it or something. This isn't even my opinion, it is the findings of those in position, the ones who examined her car. Yes, they have noted all previous dents, etc to the car.

I do not know what to make of the spider crack in the windshield, I mean how could that happen? No seatbelt on or did she have one on?....Butch says he saw her from the face up due to airbags so how could she hit the windshield belted up. Then Butch takes that story back by not repeating it again. I wish someone would get on here and give an actual run down about why this is not possible, that Maura's car sustained the damage at the "scene of the crime"

If Maura is in the witness protection program, I take it all back because then I could see why this whole thing seems like bad acting!

just me, i've thought about the witness protection program too, but they let the witness tell immediate family, don't they? who knows? just seems like evading people was her top priority at that time.

searchers that night drove around looking for her but don't think they searched the woods that night. there are ways to jump over a snowbank and not leave obvious prints until landing on the other side, prints not easily seen if it was a sharp slope, heavy brush.

again, it seems she headed for thick, dense, almost impassible brush that night, for evasion of people, law... agree she could've jumped into a car with the wrong person, but it doesn't seem as likely. collecting stuff from car and trunk, mobilizing for flight, being strong, athletic and independent and smart, got off the road as fast as possible and headed to the densest woods north of the sbd's house if she didn't want to be found that night.

scent trail ending at sbd's place because of the traffic at that t intersection interfering?

big question is did the searches focus on areas along dirt roads (like the rutted one to french pond), paths and trails? or along back roads where a car would have access to leaving off a victim of crime? or did they search way, way off-trail? with dogs? public probably doesn't know this stuff.

An airbag deploying can break the windshield. I unfortunately know this first hand.

Maura left her dormitory room packed up (as reported) in the precise military fashion of someone about to PCS.
She probably hadn't even unpacked yet. I'm a former 5 College student. We wouldn't get back from winter break until the last week of Jan/ first week of Feb. Given the flurry of activity happening at the beginning of the semester, I hardly, if ever, would have been unpacked by February 9th. I think way too much has been made of that particular detail.

Good point, which is why I was asking whether slamming into a snow bank could damage a car the way her car seemed to be damaged and/or set off the air bags if the car hit sideways. Guess no one knows.

Seems unlikely that the damage to the car was the result of snow, yet this winter, to my surprise, I put a small dent in the side of my truck while backing into my driveway because I hit a chunk of snow/ice at the end (corner) of the driveway. Still, it seemed like a lot of damage to Maura's car from just hitting a snow bank. It might have been driven a short distance damaged like that, but not all the way from UMass.

Speaking of UMass, did Maura sometimes/often run on Mullins Way, which is very convenient to SW dorms, where she lived? Or up Eastman Lane toward Tilson Farm Rd? Both are popular with area runners. Maybe something related to where she was running had something to do with her disappearance? Always looking at all the angles, like Whiston. Thanks.

Did Maura have a AAA card that had a 100 mile towning distance limit on it? Pretty unlikely, but maybe if a 100 mile distance from the "crash" site back south, probably down I-91 were measured - comes out to about Putney - that location, too, might have something to do with where her car sustained the damage? I think there's a rest area on I-91 in Putney and a convenience store/gas station right off the highway on Rt 5. Just a thought.

rhh, good point. maybe then she hadn't unpacked yet ---- she was very busy. she was reported to be more of a "neat freak" than most of us... figured that she'd have a harder time living that way.

I am unsure what you are referencing here.

The MMM site is 100 miles from Salem N.H.

They say Claude pushed her off the road or pitted Maura up to as many as 8 times before the drug they gave her kicked in!
Then her car came to rest at the MMM site in a snow bank but not stuck in the snow!!

In law, defamation (also called vilification, slander, and libel) is the communication of a statement that makes a false claim, expressively stated or implied to be factual, that may give an individual, business, product, group, government or nation a negative image. Slander refers to a malicious, false, and defamatory statement or report, while libel refers to any other form of communication such as written words or images. Most jurisdictions allow legal actions, civil and/or criminal, to deter various kinds of defamation and retaliate against groundless criticism.

Again, another load of crap. There is nothing! NOTHING, to indicate that she was pushed or PIT'd off of the road. Absolutely no physical evidence has been mentioned of such a thing.

Another layer of BS from OH MY.

At this point I am going to ignore any and all posts from OH MY. His/Her singular purpose seems to be to just cause problems with baseless allegations. So I am going to let him/her fight crime and conduct his/her federal investigation without any more direct conversation from me. He/she would both arrest and prosecute them. A true American hero.

WOW! What a whack job.

See you in the funny papers.
