I don't think it's hateful. I think some of us want to get to the bottom of this even if it means bringing up things that may be deemed ugly. We all want the same outcome. We all want to find Maura. For what ever reason she is not with us, we just need to find her.

Are you saying that the "positive" responses from the community were allowed but the negative or inflamatory responses were removed? Thank God then that this is a public forum. The ones that make posts that just don't quite fit in can't be removed from the site, now they are just chased off the site by a small group people that don't like new ideas. I wonder why that is.
Can you tell me what progress was made on the family run MMM forum? As far as I know there still is no evidence a crime was even committed, no one knows where she went, why she went or how she went so I'm curious as to what progress was made on the other site. Can you clue us in?

You will never find any answers if you continue to think that every question that might hurt one of the family members feelings are misleading, hateful and untrue. I am saying the positive responses from the community were allowed and the negative responses were removed on the MMM site. I feel bad about locals whom feel they were attacked in some way but I never saw evidence of this on the mm site. I know that you followed and participated in the mm forum, so it goes without statements to the progress the site made. You are correct, we do not know where she is or where she went, but the answers will eventually come about. Hopefully we will all focus in a direction to find her.

I can assure you I have not tiptoed around the family nor what I have asked them.

There are still the caring here. Most just keep on "keepin on" as Weeper puts it. I trust him as a PI, to do the right thing without any prejudices. And, he and the TEAM do it without payment. He is not related to any of the Haverhill residents, or to the Murray family. It is his occupation to investigate, weeding out the banter from facts.

I think that although there are possibilities - there are no clear answers - even though one would think so. Without the additional discussion it looks like a clear case of Maura being in Woodsville - and then leaving the scene of an accident - but never to be found again. Family says that she wouldn't do that - so there is foul play.

Key events include her being on video tape at an ATM and liquor store and Mr. Atwood saying he saw Maura. After Mr. Atwood moved - volunteers with dogs searched his former residence - no evidence of foul play there.

From a purist point of view - this means she left - but we have no way of knowing if she is alive, as the reported sightings have been checked and nothing came of it. The best that can be guessed is that she went to a nearby hotel - maybe - or maybe she was kidnapped, or maybe she hitched a ride to Quebec and changed her name to Sophie Bean. Or maybe she is living like Grizzley Adams.

If we try to make this more then what the official reports say - we first question the identity of the car driver. Maybe Atwood could have reasonably misidentified her if the person resembled Maura. But then again - once we think about how this could have happened in such a tight time schedule - there is no question - in that scenario - that at least two people were involved in her disappearance - so we strike that up as unlikely compounded with a complete disregard for Mr. Atwood's testimony. The Westmans observations weakly support that doubt.

So - next - we question the tight time schedule. The newspapers were wrong - she didn't go to the liquor store, maybe the ATM visit, the phone message to fellow student and the dorm mate that saw her leave - was a day before - Saturday - not Sunday. Up oh, no one witnessed Maura doing any of the other things on Sunday. We have evidence of a possible reckless driver driving away towards Woodsville. the night the Saturn crashed at Woodsville - the other radio signals certainly would travel outside town boundaries, the driver having at least a resemblance to Maura.

Mathematically - the drive could be done recklessly. If something happened to Maura after she got off the phone with her dad Saturday night - could her room have been "cleaned" before the police arrived? Maybe. If the police didn't think she was harmed there, might they not check for evidence? Maybe. Could the putting of items in boxes be part of a clean up that was interrupted? Maybe. Could it be part of a way to keep her things from becoming evidence? Maybe. Could someone have shopped for a look alike to rob? Maybe.

Or could Mr. Atwood, instead of stopping to talk with the driver of the Saturn, have instead - just decided to be a lookie lou that night - not really talking to the driver - just kind of look and move on? Maybe. Got bored and the driver took off on foot? Maybe.

Could a man have driven the Saturn fast and recklessly up sideroads, planning to dump a car in a place that - because of the presence of a book in her room - knew what place Maura was fond of? Maybe. Could someone that had a master key to the dorms - or was a locksmith - sneak into Maura's room while she was sleeping and subdue and harm her there? Maybe. Could that person have used Maura's computer to get directions to his next job in Bennington Vermont? Maybe. Could that person have hid Maura before leaving? Maybe.

Could that person be the man Weeper is asking about? Maybe.

I've done all I can until we get more facts - were just going in "maybe" circles here. All I can say is what didn't happen, what is unlikely and what is possible - although still unlikely.

Also, there is the carousel of sorrow, with the family. At night, especially when it is cold and dark.

I post the following only because it seems, maybe, perhaps that this is one of the very few truths, that we have had since November 2004. I cling to tiny truths.

February 9, 2004 Monday
3:30 PM - 4:30 PM - A dorm mate reportedly sees Maura leave the UMass Amherst campus.4:00 PM or earlier - Maura goes to an ATM and withdraws $280 from her account. Video surveillance footage shows her to be alone. Her bank account is left nearly empty. She is due to receive paychecks from her job in the coming days.

Fred kept the bank account open...."just in case"..There has to be documentation..."print out" of activity that day.(Not seen by us of course)

There are no records what so ever to support such call.
Where does it go if all 911 calls are
recorded?
It didn't go to HPD they don't take calls at that time?

SBD's girlfriend got put through to Hanover Dispatch then transferred to
Grafton.

Still a record isn't there of the call?

hi all, still on the tailpie ragging thing . i have always thought it would just be blown out almost right away but at 25 miles per hour it may have made it a few miles.i think the posted speed at the barn is 25 mph not 35 as per accident report.In the winter that road is very ,very rough with frost heaves and bumps and requires total focus when driving on it.even at 25 mph it is still too fast in places.Was the red truck driver the origin of the rag in the tailipe ater Maura stopped for a break on rt 10 or 116.take care philip

What would be some fixes for the issues it was having what thoughts would someone come up with

The New Hamsphire State Police Major Crimes Division has jurisdiction of Maura's case e.g. the search warrant request YOU provided on the cell tower records that reflected Trooper Todd Landry's name. He stated he was a homicide investigator with the NHSP in the search warrant as well, remember?

The Attorney General has custody of the files pertaining to Maura's investigation re: Murray vs. New Hampshire State Police.

In 2006 Mr. Murray set precedent with his lawsuit pertaining to the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) in the State of New Hampshire and the law was changed because of this.

The NHSP told the NH Surpreme Court judge that if information pertaining to Maura's investigation was made public this could lead to witness intimidation amongst other things.

Other changes have taken place in NH Government since 2004 as well re: the adoption of the Missing Person Law in 2005 and soon the Sex Offender Registry of NH will include the names of all offenders against adults, 600+ identities of Level II & III offenders to be exact.

The FBI was involved those first few weeks and aided the MA authorities down around U-Mass and Weymouth areas until they were told they were no longer needed by the NHSP.

This was a slap in the face for Maura's family and being a native of NH this is also something I've been struggling with. Why wouldn't the NHSP want all of the help they could get???????

They FBI aided the MA authorities in divising a time line for the days and weeks leading up to Maura's departure from the U-Mass campus.

I'm pretty sure the FBI would have obtained all of Maura's medical records/information and NHSP has them in their files.

NH Fish & Game have conducted numerous ground searches over the years. Someone else's remains were found during one of these searches off 112 at a remote camp and were identified in 2006 (I'm pretty sure is was 2006).

The majority of searches by Fish & Game, that I know of, have all been within an approximate 20 mile radius of the Weathered Barn.

Maura will have been missing without activity on her social security number, bank accounts, and credit cards in five years here soon, three months to be exact.

Maura's is a major criminal investigation being treated as a potential homicide with the 75% chance of a conviction.

Are you speaking directly to NHSP who has jurisdiction over Maura's investigation? Is this what the NHSP told you?

Maybe she was just tired of people telling her what to do, friends telling her not to drive at 2:30 to her dad's motel, people suggesting counseling, people (I'm guessing) getting on her about her drinking and other life choices? I think she was in emotional trouble and didn't want any more "help". JMO

I have been away camping in those dangerous woods in NH with no computer access. It has taken me a little time to try to figure out some of the conversation here. What I have figured out is that someone from Atlanta GA is using my moniker. That was not me. Anne was able to determine, from the lack of quality of the writing, no doubt ;) it wasn't me either. I don't know the extent of what has been said but I saw one remark in another forum (Deal reached for N.H. man...) that was not me. So far it appears that the person is from GA though that might be able to be faked. I have only been to GA once and don't plan on returning so if you see a WTF response from the state of GA it isn't me.

Crime Diary (excellent, well-written site) describes a case with similarities to Maura. I think it's entitled "Mystery Trail" and it has an update. Additional news coverage if you click on highlighted phrases. I was astounded they called this a suicide. It was more likely she was hit by an ATV or drunk driver, IMO. The mother herself admitted there was some evidence she was suicidal (seen crying hours earlier in a store's video, having over the counter pills, heading off to a motel away from school at night, etc.) This is not off-topic. It has shocking similarities.... yet it doesn't make it any clearer whether either case was foul play (dismissed by LE) or totally out-of-character suicide...
