Whiston I believe the Stage Stop was the only
store which you had to make a right to get to
not a left.
Goose Lane/French to the intersection of
Swiftwater is seconds.
It's winter time no way Smith is traveling Mock 10.
The Witness would have been in front of Smith!
Only place for Smith to turn a SUV around with
speed would be the Bridge or the Old store at the
bottom of the hill.
All this taking time which means the witness in
my opinion should have been in front of Smith.

It has been interesting reading recently especially new posters with new ideas of what happened to Maura. One thing I wanted to mention again is that there was a dusting of snow that late afternoon with several cars skidding off the road in the area. Although around the presumed time Mauras Saturn went off the road, it had cleared up. I am sure it kept several tow trucks busy pulling people out of the ditch and possibly contributed to SBD inability to get through to dispatch and accounts for more than one wrecker arriving at the weathered barn site.

I'd venture a guess and say if Smith tried Maura's cell phone that evening of the 10th, then there would be tower evidence to locate her phone, no differently than the Londonderry ping of 2/9.

Can you learn why HPD or NHSP didn't want to give the infamous John Walsh from the historically successful and distinquished America's Most Wanted, a simple copy of the public police report so that America's Most Wanted could have alerted the nation that a young girl named Maura Murray disappeared from New Hampshire?

Do you think this had anything to do with why Fred feels the way he does?

The the witness should have been very noticable
to the NHSP would they not?
Why is it the witness did not see the NHSP
who came that way?
Wouldn't a rig with it's flashers on be
noticable?

If the witness who saw someone walking
wouldn't someone traveling at a low rate of
speed with the flashers on being scanning the area?

The witness then continued along route 112 East heading home and flashed her/his high-low beams to oncoming traffic (universal signal to slow down ahead) due to the location of the accident on the sharp curve

No calls were taken by AAA that night. With so many cars slipping off the road, this doesn't add up.

Something doesn't make sense here.

Early on, in a previous forum (era), there was more talk about a large watch on Maura's left wrist cracking the windshield than there was of her hitting her head. It could also have been a heavy, substantial drinking container in her left hand. Hence, spilled red liquid. What is the current thinking? It was a spider crack from inside, from what I've read/seen in photos... Was there any other object (like a free-flying metal seatbelt part that could've done this --- if Maura was unbuckled?

This is a link (if it's not already here) to Nancy Grace's Cold Case Report and lots of posters responding. It was upsetting to me because not enough information was given so many posters lacked some of the most basic information. Posting's closed there; no way to correct incorrect statements.

If Maura did leave Amherst in that Saturn... for people considering her running away... either she was a genius at leaving confusing and conflicting clues behind, or she just left without much planning and without having a definite plan in mind... length of trip, will I return?, etc. Had she been stashing money away little by little over the months? Otherwise, she was heading for a lifestyle that would be radically different from having a room, roof and warm bed at night!

This doesn't sound pretty, but I'm assuming everyone has fantasized at some time about it: Did she "take" something valuable and try to sell it? Something that would give her financial freedom anywhere in the world for years? This could provide a reason for Maura interacting with a "bad" person we assume she normally wouldn't interact with.... Of course this is questionable because of her character, as well as her leaving jewelry in her car, etc. But if she had a large sum of money, she wouldn't need to face the pain of parting with the necklace her grandmother gave her... Or maybe her attempted "deal" led to her being threatened. I'm sorry if this sounds like a bad movie, but with Beagle talking about art galleries and with art theft being discussed in lectures at UMass....

A poster here, as well as a poster on the Nancy Grace site above who claimed to know Maura, both brought up the thought that if Maura was checking out private things via computer, she'd know enough not to use her own. Ben, you were right, I'm finding reasons for hope, not necessarily those making the most sense. Did Maura have a laptop? If so, what are the implications of her having left it behind? Guess there was nothing on it she was concerned about. Or --- she was expecting to be back in a few days anyway...

Would someone have discovered by now if there was a car that skidded off the road at 7PM in another county?

Rereading stuff, it seems Fred went back to Bridgeport, CT on Sunday in his rental car. I'm curious what his work schedule was over the next few days. Did he work hospital-hour shifts? like Sunday 3PM-11PM? so that it made sense he talked to Maura after 11PM Sunday night? I'm asking because if Maura was upset and Fred was aware of it... just wondering if he was trying to get her some help... if he worked Monday 7AM-3PM, that would allow time for him to drive up to Amherst after work to "help Maura get some help"?? Maybe she fled from that? She had been soooo upset that other people who knew her were suggesting she get help. I know this is provocative, but I needed to ask... If Fred knew she was depressed and she avoided him successfully... can't imagine the scope of the heartbreak.

I don't think many companys took AAA back then!
I think now most do around here.
Or the way to see it was there wasn't many accidents.

How do you know they didn't?
Have you ever seen a statement by American's Most Wanted that occured?
How about they decided not to run it for lack
of evidence has that ever crossed your mind?
Guilt is an amazing thing but no family deserves
to have a child missing.
This forum is a perfect example of how some can not play well together regardless of how important it is happens often in the real world
as well.
I don't remember anyone stating Smith indeed
called her cell?
But we the public aren't entitled to her records
so we won't know about that will we.

"post#8427 Campus security had evidence that she was last seen Sunday morning by a fellow student and that she was carrying a backpack,box of wine and a large hockey bag of beer." Maura was in an accident in Hadley at 0333 on 2/8/04 in the early hours of sunday morning. She was the then dropped off by the tow truck driver at the hotel her father was staying at. They went to the car place around 12:30. Maura was dropped off at her dorm by her father sometime sunday afternoon. I also have to wonder how the fellow student came up with the large hockey bag of beer. How is it this fellow student could say what the contents was in this hockey bag? There are 3 possibilitys I have come up with. 1 it was a see through hockey bag 2 the student had xray vision or 3 the student actually walked up to the person carrying the large hockey bag and opened and looked into the hockey bag to see what the contents was in this bag. I think maybe LE should requestion this fellow student.

who saw her and I have the same thoughts
the other person I found odd that campus
security or MA LE didn't speak with was the
girl/with the scrubs or clothing all information
obtain from this person was by Helena.
Why Fred ok with the campus/MA LE investigation
is puzzling when it seems the last person to actually see Maura was the girl she rode with.
Why did Maura need extra clothing?
Wasn't anyone at the apt they stayed ever interviewed?

If I am reading this correctly.....campus security would also have had Maura on camera...The bigger question would be if this fellow student neglected to say anything about seeing Maura on Sunday morning with these items, or if this student varied in their statement somewhere.

Where you coming up with the camera?
That would be AWESOME if the case!

Citigirl do you know if it was normal
for Fred and Maura to talk so late?
Did Fred only call her on her cell?
Did she have a regular phone in her room?

hi Citigirl and all .you say they went to the car place at 12.30.Was Maura with mr Murray all morning and was dropped off at school in the p.m. to work at the mystery gallery. If so how was she seen with the hockey bag etc. in the morning I assume they , or at least mr Murray went to see the toyota at some point if they could get access on a sunday.I also assume mr Murray had personal items in the toyota that he would have needed. The towing company would have probably also needed a key as would the insurance estimator and anyone that might be going to repair the car.Could Maura have gone to retrieve some items on Monday.still trying to fill in that last day.take care philip

Also - I did reach out to the admin at mauramurray site. The family did provide AMW a CD to feature the case - they chose not to. They forwarded me an article - it was featured in June 04 of Seventeen magazine. I don't understand how the LE would not want it profiled - only one reason - showing their mistakes for taking so long to search for her.

Another thing that saddens me is that although ALL of you want to solve this case... some of you are at odds with each other. To solve a problem you should all try working together.

hi white wash and all .in 2002 umass amherst started to install cameras at every entranc and exit to every buildin.When they were installed and if some of them were replacing existing cameras i dont' know.THEinstallation was to be completed by the end of 2006 and was to cost a half a million dollars.Just one student that was there then could tell us if Kennedy had cameras.Where are all those people .Petrit Vasi said he would help if he could .Can someone here ask him please .take care philip
