I didn't mean or want to turn it into a big deal, and I'm sorry you were offended. It just took me by surprise. That particular post and the way it was phrased didn't necessarily bother me, though others have of course. It was more a comment about how different people's reactions can be than anything, was all.<quoted text>
FireCat ~
It is always offensive to casually attach a psychiatric diagnosis to an individual without a professional workup.
I'll assume you think otherwise.
Why not let Sara Alfieri speak to Maura's drinking habits, shall we?

Judged: 1 1 On the other hand, it's great to see so many new faces (so to speak) and hear so many different points of view and ideas, however wacky or off the wall some of them may sound to someone else. Who knows what this sort of conversation could jar loose in people's brains? Conversation and speculation--so long as it remains just that, a series of "what ifs"--does no harm, I feel, so long as people can manage to keep track of what the facts actually are and keep their speculations within the boundaries of what is known to be factually true. Which is why the Wikipedia page was started, and that chart. Hey, where'd that chart go?? |

Do you know if Maura was an extremely loyal and a "would do anything for my friends" kind of person? I just can not fathom someone doing this unless they were extremely close to this person. Someone so close that she would consider doing something as crazy and elaborate as this. |

Judged: 1 RO, from what I have read on this forum, is the lady that walked to the Stage Stop Store and saw the red truck. I guess she is the witness to the red truck. Someone please correct me if I am wrong. |

Hey Firecat,
You are absolutely right and newcomers are welcome, this is for sure. I'm a stickler when it comes to the opinions of the experts and am truly thankful to all of whom have volunteered their time and resources on behalf of Maura and her family. My other laptop crashed a couple of weeks ago and I lost everything. Upon the purchase of my new laptop the very first thing I scoured the internet for was Advocator's chart! http://docs.google.com/View... |

Judged: 3 1 1 Yes, we both have strong opinions, Firecat. My work touches on this field, and so my awareness is always on the surface. I apologize for keeping such a narrow focus. "Bipolar" and "Schizophrenia" are so overused and tossed around these days by young people and adults, alike. I am aware of instances where friends/students have misled each other by attaching serious psychiatric diagnoses to someone's having occasional outbursts or by exhibiting emotional expression, however frequent or infrequent. Psychiatrists frown upon this casual mislabeling as it can needlessly create fear and shame rather than encouraging care and seeking appropriate services. |

Bump for a question to Ghost of Maura Murray from Detective Colombo.
Detective Columbo wrote: "ALSO....I asked someone for a general location of where they stayed and where they were when they saw the underwear. Yes, I may have asked someone to email me , but this does not tell me who they are. You can use any name to sign up for an e-mail addy. The person I asked was Ghost and we know each other personnaly" |

Judged: 1 1 1 I´m returning to my previous question here recently: When and where can we pinpoint the last publicly known, more or less certain sighting of Maura? Ideas? |
I think it is one of the following
something at westpoint or Vasi and getting rid of vehicle and they got rid of her. Makes sense. That is why the police are keeping it quiet. It is an ongoing investigation. wonder where vasi is? |

Peri, not ignoring you.......just not home to get to my notes. IIRC, it's as I wrote above because I remember thinking if he could see the LE lights to indicate they arrived, then why couldn't he see the makes of vehicles passing by. And, also, I'm curious as to why he waited on the porch until they arrived..........or rather, was he watching something? However, I'm not always correct and I'll be glad to recheck this. Will get back later. |

Here is an article from Oct.2004 on Vasi's condition for all of you that are newer to this story as I am. http://media.www.dailycollegian.com/media/sto... |

Judged: 1 1 1 Yes. It had racks and slats. Can't remember if it was like a Ford F250 or F350. For another poster who asked ---- "WHO IS RO". Robinsordway is a woman who lived about a mile west of the weathered barn. Since it was a mild Feb. night, she walked the short distance to the Stage Stoppe Store, talked to Winnie, saw a few official vehicles go by.... and she was the one who witnessed the red pickup truck pass her, slowing down to look at her, slowing on the hill, pulling into the little parking lot, and turning around to return westbound towards to the saturn in the snowbank. She saw SP Monahan who pulled up by her and said, "oh, it's you", since they knew each other from an early tragedy in RO's life, when she lost her daughter. He continued on, I believe, heading east. RO posted on the old MMM forum. Hope 17 other people didn't already answer this question. It's nice to KNOW AN ANSWER TO SOMETHING like 1% of the time. Of course, correct inaccuracies.... |

A poster here, "Paris", emailed Vasi and this correspondence is conveniently located here, in this forum, somewhere in the past 400 pages. IIRC he did return to complete his BS and he is working. He continues to recover from traumatic brain injury. I believe he came from the Boston area and continues to live and work there. This last sentence is courtesy of another TOPIX poster. |

Mr, Vasi suffered multiple serious head injuries that I believe were caused by his head impacting the street and possibly the curb after he was struck by a vehicle. I recall reading a post on this site in which Shack (I think) asked him if he knew where the car hit him and he said he wasn't sure. He said that after he came out of the coma one side of his body (left?) felt more sore than the other so assumed that's where the car hit him. In other words, he sustained soft tissue injuries to various parts of the rest of his body, but no broken bones. Therefore, his injuries were consistent with sustaining an impact to his lower body that up-ended him and he landed on his head in the street or against the curb. I would not expect any blood or hair to have been transferred to the car that hit him under those circumstances. I would expect visible damage to the car at the point of impact in the form of some kind of dent, but I'm not an accident reconstruction expert so I'd rather not speculate further. Notice that in a subsequent post I said,“I don't know if there was a "first" accident on Rte 112 before the accident just past the Weathered Barn. I'm pretty sure that the damage to the hood did not happen at the scene where the Saturn wound up. If the Saturn hit Vasi, that damage may have happened there. If not, I'm going to vote for a "first" accident on the 112.”(message #9444 @ p.470) I’ve posted a theory about a possible “first” accident in which the Saturn collided head-on with a guardrail on the other side of the road after the driver lost control and crossed the center line while heading E/B on Rte 112, slightly over 1 mile beyond the Rte 302/112 intersection. I believe that may be where the Saturn sustained the dent in the hood just above the left front headlight. I’ve said before, as many others have said, that the dent in the hood was not caused by the collision just past the Weathered Barn. On the other hand, I don’t feel comfortable saying it was caused by hitting Mr. Vasi, although it may have been. Since Mr. Vasi was not a planted object like a utility pole and front bumpers are designed to flex and rebound, I don’t think his body caused the dent in the hood. |

This puts your response TOTALLY into perspective. Thanks for that. |

Judged: 2 2 2 Euro, My understanding from reading these boards is that the last "confirmed" sighting of Maura is the dorm mate who witnessed her leaving campus sometime from 3:30-4:30, unless you count the supposed liquor store video - which I tend to believe is the real Maura. Pretty sure there is no publically known irrefutable proof that she left the Amherst area. As has been discussed previously, vehicles can sometimes be dumped far from where a crime actually occured in order to throw off investigators. Mason's previous posts regarding the possible scenario of the "friend" enlisting Maura's help to ditch the car, and then abducting her does seem like a possibility to me. The hard thing about this case is that there are so many possibilities - some likely, and some unlikely. That does not mean that something very strange, complicated and unlikely did not occur. In fact, it seams like every aspect of this situation is strange, complicated and unlikely. |
