It is entirely possible.

This area is the size of the state of Rhode Island with very few roads and trails throughout, especially to the east.

If she has her cell phone with her, she's over near Londonderry. That means she isn't the person who takes money out of the ATM and buys the booze. Yet, that person was captured on video and has been identified as Maura Murray.
How do you explain that?
Mason - it's been mentioned a few times that her cell has never been registered as being within range of the Londonderry tower. That tower was mentioned because a call was made *to* Maura's phone *from* a phone within range of Londonerry that afternoon. SOM posted a link to an article quoting the original mentioning a couple pages back.

I don't mean to repeat that point, but given the amount of (genuinely helpful) commentary you've provided here, I want to make sure we don't continue to spread confusion around that piece of the story (there's certainly enough pieces we don't know as is).

So you think she never unpacked her dorm as opposed to packing it up?
If the boxes were on the bed when I returned from Christmas break, they'd be on the floor pretty quick and that's where the would remain until I got sick and tired of looking at them and stepping over them. That might not happen for a long time.

Who is going to get up in the morning, make the bed, and pile all of the boxes back on top of the bed before leaving the room?

That's absurd.

Good point, Scooter. Did you know that Billy's mom paid the bill? She bought it for Maura to use so that she could call Billy.
Methinks Maura believed that phone came with some strings attached, eh what?
No! I didn't know (or remember) that Billy's mom paid the bill. I guess she isn't actively involved in the forum anymore? She would know how much it was used. Anyone out there talk to her?
BTW Mason - your theory posted several pages back (helping a "friend") really hit home for me for some reason. It was a like - yeah! that's IT! I wonder....

You are right. The first time I clicked on the link all I waited for was confirmation of the address on my explorer bar.
I waited this time and nothing came up when the page finished re-directing, sorry.
The web address has changed. It used to be southshoreexpress and now it's whitmanhansonexpress. Follow the link you were just provided on the previous page and you will get there.

I thought we settled that point a couple of days ago.

YES. Very definitely so. The White Mountains are some rugged terrain. People, downed planes, all sorts of stuff can disappear in there and never be seen again.

Apparently not. IT's also been "settled" several times before.

According to the affadavit, it was the phone CALLING Maura that was within 20 miles of the Londonderry tower.

Maybe the affadavit is worded incorrectly?

Whiston - IIRC, LE DID hear the voicemail message but thought they only heard static. How someone can hear sobbing so distinctively and someone else hear static - you got me!

Just my opinion: because she had the forms her dad wanted her to get, because she e-mailed professors, because she bothered to pack up dorm stuff in boxes, because her dad was going to get her a new car, and lastly because she had the school books and specific directions in the car. What you think?
it's been reported that actually the Corolla was the new car, that in fact, he had bought it for her already.

Automobile Insurance is just that...if Fred financed car, he was required to have insurance on the car. When applying for auto insurance, certain information is required. For me, the question asked is "do you still drive in NH.".?
and "are you only driver of this vehicle"? Premium rates used to be higher
for under 25 males...they used to call them "assigned risks"..
(years ago I worked in claims at a local ins. co.)
The above is only what I know in Mass.

Found in searching, that directions to Stowe VT were found on her computer...
Still don't remember if that was one of the printouts found in car..with
Burlington, VT.(along with the Berkshires)..or what was hand written.

I'm pretty sure he told Maribeth Conway that she'd picked out a Ford Prizm when they went shopping for cars on Saturday and that was before she wrecked his Toyota Corrola early Sunday morning after she left the drink-up in the dorm. He told Cobway that he was going to buy her the Prizm.

scooter...Sharon...(the future mil) said it
sounded liked sniffing/stifled sobbing by Maura(those might not be the exact wording)
Often wondered if it was recorded for later use,
though I kinda doubt it.

Yeh..the trees were crashing all around me last
night...lost elec. for only 4 hours...
Looking4..wonder if you made it North...

I've wondered about that too. I'm thinking she liked West Point a lot more when Billy, a senior, was there. After he left, I'm guessing she didn't like being there very much.

Whatever the reason for leaving, I think she liked the less structured environment at UMass, but sometimes people fall apart when they go from a structured environment to a far less structured environment where you have to provide your own structure, or fall apart. She was smart enough to keep her grades up, but ...

I think that's a huge unanswered question and the answer to her disappearance will become an "of course, now I get it," to us.

I'm trying to think of an expression that means the opposite of beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Anyway, there are places you can a recording and they have the technology to remove the static. That technology has been around for many years which is why so many recordings of musical groups have been remastered and issues in digital format that's cleaner than the original master tape.

I can't imagine why they didn't look into trying to get rid of the static because there may have some background noise that might have provided a clue to where Maura was located, or definitively ruled out sobbing.

Maybe they looked into that possibility but found out it couldn't be done. If not, they may have made a tragic and costly mistake by erasing the message.
