If she had written her name in her books, they probably would have been purchased long ago since they were next to new and, if not, new editions probably have come out sending her books to the recycling bin.

Mr Happy (formerly Mason)- Posts #9654-9658 - BRAVO! After several years of following all of this, I can say I now feel like someone has a theory that makes the most sense. Hoping that LE/PI/The Powers That Be have read it also; had a lightbulb moment; and will lead them down a path to the final destination we're all hoping for....then the only forum all of us will be interested in is one that's just about nothing but what we've all been up to.

In case you don't know, you can navigate your way there by clicking your mouse on the arrow in the jump-to-page window and slide the bar on the drop-down menu up and click on p. 25, repeat and click on p. 50, repeat and click on 59, then scroll to msg 1200, and you're there.

At the very least, info might become more streamlined and 'readable'. Good idea. I posted an idea about creating a searchable database awhile ago but haven't had time to work on it. Starting new threads according to topic is a great way to organize stuff for future posts and maybe the best way to deal with the past posts is to gradually work them into the mix as we go along and people reach back to recover them on a message by message basis. It would take less time to do it that way.

A week or so ago, I recommended checking with the IRS and the Social Security Administration to have them run her SSN to see if any employer forms were sent to them regarding $ withheld from paychecks issued to Maura since February, 2004.
You can't get a regular paying job in this country without an SSN. Instead, you have to work for cash that no one ever bothers to report or deduct as a business expense. Even if you wait tables for tips, you still have to fill out a W-2.
Getting a new SSN is possible, but a lot tougher since 9/11. Before then you could go to a cemetery, find a tombstone indicating a birth year close to yours and a death before age 5, copy down the name, order a copy of the birth certificate at the county office because you "lost your copy," and use the new birth certificate to acquire a whole new set of ID, including a new SSN.

AMEX also refuses to cooperate...and, as you know, I'm pretty persistent. While I hold signed, notorized, legal documents providing her intent in the event of her incapacity...apparently there is no reciprocity between states. The court date is coming up soon. Do you suppose the IRS or SSA will entertain any conversation about Maura Murray with any one of us?

I've read your posts and tried to pull them together into something resembling a cohesive theory. Let's not get too excited though because it's just a theory and any day now, some new fact might pop up and bring the structure tumbling down. One new fact I'd like to see pop-up with a smile on her face is Maura Murray. Meanwhile, I've suggested some avenues to pursue in finding out if she is still among the living. Now, I'm going to turn to trying to figure out where her remains are most likely to be located. I'm going to start by drawing four circles with radii of 25, 50, 75, and 100 miles from the accident near the Weathered Barn and look first for the place that might have been selected to get rid of the car, since that was a preselected target according to my theory, and then look for remote places where someone might roll a body down into a ravine, for example. If she was murdered for the reason I suggest, I'm pretty sure she was killed at or before dawn because it would have been too risky to drive around with her in the vehicle -- someone might have seen her riding in the vehicle or, if she was already dead, the driver might have some splainin to do if he or she was pulled over by a cop. Finding a suitable place in the dark would be limited to dumping the body off the side of a road, unless the killer knew the area very well. I learned a lot about that "skill" from my work on the Green River Killer case. Never thought it would come in handy though. Thank God for Google Satellite and Terrain Maps.

Agreed, assuming that the car was random and just happened to be driving through. Someone could have followed her from Amherst, or any place she stopped along her journey, and took advantage of the accident to offer her a ride. That said, I hope Maura is still alive somewhere. I wonder, if so, does she ever look for updates in the search for her? Does she ever look at her own Missing website, or even this forum? Random thought: For most people to willingly "go into hiding" I would imagine it would take a powerful impetus of threat... What could she be so afraid of? Could it be West Point related? Was she a witness to some kind of misconduct? Food for thought.

Nope, we won't get anywhere, but the cops, particularly the FBI could ask for that stuff at 9 am and have it by 4:30 pm the same day. They will have to be prodded, however, and if the first response is "no," it may take pressure by a national organization and/or a new law passed by Congress to force them to routinely do this in missing person cases. I could be wrong, but I don't believe they've ever done this before and it's such an obvious and quick way to check to see if someone is alive. They don't have to provide details in cases where people want to remain disappeared. A simple yes or no often will suffice by relieving the lost-in-limbo feeling. It's just another mountain to climb, but it will save a lot of grief for a lot of people for a very long time, after we climb it. M

All of the fire roads and old logging roads that go deep into the woods and would be a perfect spot to hide a car or anything else are not plowed in the winter and many are gated off. I doubt even a good 4 wheel drive would be able to drive up one even if it was open.

Mason, I don't, of course, know who you are... or perhaps how many of you there are...OR where, in what U.S. State you lay your head at night.. BUT, I do know one thing. If you have never spent any time in NH, especially in the foot hills and in the White Mountains of NH, you would do well to decrease that radius. If one drew a circle of even a mere 10 miles, one would find hundreds of bog swamps, quarries, and ravines. Within just a few miles, there are many suspicious areas where disposal would be simple. Please correct me, anyone...but, don't crimanal analysts (sp) believe that disposal is usually within a few miles. I am tired..or I would look it up.
