WTF ~
The best post, ever. Still laughing. A friend, former engineer with Stone and Webster, was fired from his post-retirement job at the local hardware store because he overtalked "lightbulbs" with the customers. True story. |
Judged: 1 1 1 New idea (for me, anyway): You'd think she'd want to stay in a nearby motel, maybe one in Woodsville she might've passed, near the freeway, to make it CHEAPER AND EASIER to get back and reclaim her car the next day. Rather than hitching a ride to Lincoln, Bartlett, Woodstock or Franconia. I'd guess the closest motels (to the west) had their registers carefully checked as the searching began. All of a sudden it just does not make sense that she began running or took a ride EAST, because it would make it that much harder to return to Woodsville area. I don't think it was Maura that the CW saw. |

I don’t’ get too rattled by things like that. Many people expect that everyone will say the same thing and that everything they say will be entirely correct. This is almost never the case. People don’t see some things. Sometimes they (or their mind) fills in blank parts. An example, when police have eye witnesses they will usually use the combination of descriptions because there is really no way to know who has the most accurate. They will all have some differences and if they don’t its time to suspect that the witnesses got together and rehearsed their testimony. Maura would wear her hair in a bun most of the time. The fact her hair was down just lends credence to my belief she was hit with the airbag during the collision. Her hair color at night. My hair color is actually dark brown which was very clear when next to black hair. Well it was when I had it and before what little is left is turning grey. Almost everyone says it black. At night I wouldn’t be surprised that anybody would call Maura’s hair black. Small discrepancies don’t worry me. A female in her 20’s driving Maura’s car in New Hampshire, to me, is Maura until something very clearly changes that. I also have trouble filling in “the why” someone who stole Maura’s car would bother locking it and taking the keys if she had no vested interest in protecting the vehicle and contents. Bill |

Judged: 1 Philip, the "didn't want to get her in trouble thing".....I think it was discussed in the very last days of the MMM forum.....but I can't remember what was said about it. Do you still have the archives available? I don't remember the specifics, as I said, but I remember a family member talking about it. It'd be good to remind us, so if anyone remembers, PLEASE clue us in. |

Judged: 1 I think, goat, that he's just saying that we shouldn't judge Maura or blame her if she was drinking and driving, or even had an alcohol problem--that neither of those things means she "deserves" what happened to her one bit. But, yes, it would indeed explain that reluctance. So it might be important on that level. Just not on the level of she doesn't deserve to be missing. I am explaining this so very, very poorly. Forgive me. But do you know what I'm saying? |
|
Judged: 4 For real. I for one have heard just about every expletive out there and are offended by very, very few.....but most people have better company manners than I. What bothers me more is the vitriol than the actual word choice. I don't care how you choose to say it, there's no reason to get that worked up at another human being for what goes on over a message board. |
|
She even went the additional step that many students don't bother--that of at least calling and trying to make reservations a few places. Oh good lord I can't tell you the number of times I left campus for the weekend (once flying to Chicago 100 miles away) without my parents ever knowing. Unless of course they're reading this now.:) |

Bill, Your post makes sense and I agree with you. One thing though: If a female friend/"helper" of Maura´s was in fact driving the Saturn at the time it came to as stop by the Weathered Barn, then this friend of hers would no doubt lock the car before leaving it. Perhaps such a scenario (a female friend/"helper" driving the Saturn) could also explain why Maura´s jewellery, monkey Joseph and other things were left behind in the locked car. |

hi Firecat and all.I will look for the 'i dont want to get her in trouble'quote.Quija Maybe ,if Maura was at the saturn the person that may have picked her up said something along the line of 'we can come right back with a larger vehicle to pull the saturn out of the snow'.I am assuming that if Maura was at the saturn she would have come right back with a vehicle to tow it out of the snow bank .At this point as far as she could have known if she had been able to move the car before PD,were called nobody would be calling her father and her trip up to N.H. would still be a secret.I assume the battery was reconnected at Lavoies so the saturn could be tarted.Take care philip

Judged: 1 1 I understand...and think I was getting at the same point when I became worked up about the suggestion that Maura might have been a "drunk" or "alcoholic"...which then could follow..."she wasn't careful and deserved her fate". |

Judged: 3 1 1 Wowzer, I haven't read the posts after this, in case it's already been said, but I understand that a person's ears remain the same over time.(the upper cartilage more than the lobe that can sag over the decades...) I can get "documentation" on this if you want! But it's an ear-tight case. |
|
Judged: 1 I don't think documentation is needed nor do I want any. I only stated my opinion and said I could be wrong. The dimple on her face to me would be much more noticible than someone's upper cartilage on their ears. This is just something I happen to look for when in stores and restaurants. This is just my opinion. It is not documanted anywhere. Jeesh people are testy today. Time to shut the computer down. |
|
Judged: 3 3 3 are stating! Close Family! Talked to Mom every night! Sister daily! Father close! So for her to up and leave just doesn't fit! But Billy stated that Fred didn't know they where "engaged to be engaged" I don't see her taking off without calling her family of course someone speaking to her last probably would know that she was struggling.

Judged: 1 1 1 Wowzer! Hey, don't shut the computer down!!!! I'm not testy --- I'm female and lack testiness!!!!(This is another sorta-joke.) I was partly posting what I heard was true about "ears", but I do understand what you were saying -- her cheeks and dimples are unique (and lovely too).(The "documentation" sentence was a lead-in to a little, tiny, pun.) No rancor here. |

Judged: 1 Very good piece of information for people to keep in mind if possibly uncertain if they are looking at someone they think is Maura - however - I still would strongly consider telling Weeper anyway. |
Judged: 2 2 2 The relatives that post here would know that, wouldn't you think? Unless they are more relatives that have never actually met the people involved. |
