Where is MAURA MURRAY

Think about the box from a replacement light that was found in the Saturn. Wonder what type of light --- headlight? Wonder if the box -- price sticker sometimes has name of store --- would reveal where it was bought.

The TIMING of that 1AM phone call that reduced her to tears was always so coincidental. Whiston, are you thinking that Maura and a friend who possibly hit Vasi were traveling together up north? Any chance Maura deliberately tried to hit a guardrail or post or whatever to cover the previous damage? Was that the "first" accident? Then she got into her friend's car, "the private vehicle"? Where is she? Where's the friend?

Oh My, there are several (not sure how many) cabins/homes in the Mountain Lakes area that are owned by individuals with the last name of Murray.

None of these Murray's, however, are related to Maura Murray's family.

Process of elimination........in this instance, at least.

For a period of time, I was a moderator on Maura's forum. While in this position, there were a few facts (not many, trust me)I came across. And, most of those facts did NOT lend further info into whatever happened to Maura so please don't think I'm hiding anything that could be of use.

I do not want to be accused of trying to take over this Topix board, as I have already been accused of attempting. Believe me, I don't want to be in that position.

I enjoy reading the new fresh ideas! And I am impressed at the line of thinking here. Keep it up!

However, I would like the few facts that ARE known, to remain just that, facts; hence, my last two postings. It saves time and energy. And it avoids speculation turning into fact.

The package(s) in Maura's car that were automobile light bulbs........were for small lights such as blinker lights.

There is an alternative use for these little bulbs that drug abusers use them for. They break them in half and use that half to place a drug substance into. They then put fire underneath the half and melt the drug.....for either injection or to smoke.

And, by my stating the above paragraph, I am in NO WAY SUGGESTING MAURA WAS A DRUG USER. My thinking, if this is true, is that if they were used for ingestion of drug substances, they were used by perps who had control of Maura's car.

Or, it could have simply been there because the blinkers needed new bulbs.

Didn't someone go back to Mr. Vasi, he had no idea what happened to him, lost his wallet...and didn't the supervisor say that Maura was observed at 20 minute intervals, so no time to go out herself? Then again in the begining the UMASS LE said the mysterious call came from within,(in house) at Maura's work station. Could this be a place to look (again) for a connection to someone else who could have moved on whether student, member or employee.

Kathleen says they talked past 10 and Maura could not have been so upset about what they shared.

Once that 1 am call came in and Maura was seen as very upset, crying, she was offered a chance to leave her shift and go back to her room, which she did. But, she also said she had a roommate and would be fine once in her room. I don't know if security walked her all the way or not. But I do know she did not have a roommate.

was it a little blinker light for the corner edge of the front of the car? Or rear? Or for the dashboard?

I'm usually gentle but I've gotta wonder if we are being encouraged to not discuss a previous accident in the Amherst area? To just drop the replacement bulb box in her car. If it truly is for a quirky INTERIOR light, makes sense to drop it. Otherwise...

Still feeling uneasy about the direction here, and I'm beginning to feel irritated and controlled. I have a terrible feeling that some people will shut down this forum or its people soon, if posters bring up anything that suggest that Maura, like every other person on earth, is not perfect, and was not happy and perfectly well balanced 100% of the time.

with another member who was also seemingly deleted. A few days later my lap top went into a coma mode. There were many incoming telephone
calls apprising me of the closing down of the Forum. Just last night, did my computer and I come back to the reality of a the Forum closure.

Maura Murray vanished 2/9/2004 after 7PM near the Swiftwater Covered Bridge on Tourist's National Registry on Route 112
Haverhill/Woodsville/Bath NH. We have not and will not forget that Maura Murray was alive before Swiftwater. Local Town and State Law Enforcement didn't do their duty in a timely fashion. I feel that if the MM Forum had not been so active, that it is possible that Maura's fate information would have just disappeared, as do some crimes. Out of sight, out of mind....blame the victim....As Beth said "can't see it from my front porch"..
I have had the same thoughts, theories and feelings since my beginnings of knowledge of Maura's disappearance.
As time went by, especially after the first MM Forum, there seemed to a silent syllabus of sorts to which we were not privy and that we
evidently were not following. Our thoughts, feelings, theories, questions were sometimes ignored. I can truly imagine and understand that our rhetoric was becoming tiresome to the moderators. Perhaps now is the time for all good people to come to the aid of ....
Perhaps with Topix, a combination of new and previous Posters will unlock some information about Maura's disappearance.

Because I was not able to Post in the last days of the Maura Forum, I choose now to say ..What a wonderful group of caring souls!
All members really had such good intentions in trying to help solve this crime and keep the news of injustice alive. Standing ovations!!

Aren't you the one that used to sign of on the MM site with Pfft? And the one that thought the locals here were scum , rats and many other nasty names.
I hope this forum is not going to turn into a mirror image of the MMM forum now that it has been taken down.
Hopefully this forum will stay open minded with people feeling free to speak their opinions and give new ideas without fear of being called names.

True that Shack has steadily maintained a certain level of disrespect for some citizens of that area of NH. Note I say "some". Besides her dislike for any who are of the Criminal Element in that area -- and I'd venture to say that all of us here fundamentally share her dislike of them -- she has also consistently castigated law enforcement for what appears to many to be lax and unprofessional behavior (to say the least) in the MM investigation. And she has put the ball squarely in the court of the citizens of that area to listen up, wise up, tell what they may know if they know anything, and at the least assume responsibility to clean up corruption in their area, be it law enforcement alone or all the way to Town Hall. Many have said there is corruption in the area. Many have said there are "do-badders" of various types in the area. It's not the ONLY AREA in the country where these conditions are a problem, it's simply a matter that it happens to be THE AREA that the discussion of "what happened to Maura Murry" centers around. Shack is right, only those who live there have the power to make positive changes in how their government, police force and so on operate, and it's far from helpful to them or anyone else to hope the bad stuff will just go away and that no one need take any steps to put a stop to it. That's all she has ever been saying.

I'm not from that region, but nothing Shack has ever said has given me the impression that the residents are a bunch of scum or what-have-you, I only see her as issuing a virtual "call to arms" for the citizens to recognize the power their voices and votes have in making improvements. Every community and region in the country has its issues and problems that cry out for citizen involvement. So, Shack could be from anywhere and saying the same thing about anywhere and she'd still be right.

On the morning of October 2, 1987, David Kifer was driving a green Chevrolet on Christ Road in Evansville when he struck and killed jogger Barbara Mazick. Kifer left the scene of the accident and did not report the incident to police. A motorist ultimately discovered Mazick’s body, and Evansville police immediately began investigating her death.

Following the accident, Kifer drove to his brother’s home in Carmi, Illinois. He told his brother that he had run over a woman in Evansville earlier that morning......Having failed to uncover any credible information concerning Mazick’s death, the police suspended their investigation approximately two years after the accident. The police reopened the investigation in 1994 when Robin Johnson claimed to have information linking Kifer to the accident.....

After subsequent investigation by police, the State charged Kifer on September 8, 1999, with failure to stop at the scene of an accident resulting in death, a Class D felony. Kifer moved to dismiss the charge and argued that the State’s prosecution was barred by the five-year statute of limitations for a Class D felony. The trial court denied his motion, determining that Kifer’s concealment of evidence relating to the crime had tolled the statute of limitations. Following a bench trial, the court found Kifer guilty as charged. This appeal ensued........

We are constrained to hold that the State’s prosecution of Kifer nearly twelve years after the commission of the offense is barred as untimely and that the trial court erred when it denied Kifer’s motion to dismiss. His conviction for failure to stop at the scene of an accident resulting in death must be reversed.

Most detectives know that in a serious hit-and-run, especially like Vasi's, it's not unusual for either the driver or driver's friend to inquire anonymously about the victim's medical status by calling or visiting the hospital to which the victim was taken.

I personally don't think that events at UMass are central to Maura's disappearance. It's possible that they ARE inportant. Just because that's not my opinion does not mean in any way that I want to stop ANY discussion which may lead to finding Maura.

Also - and I've said this MANY times - if there is a violent criminal, perhaps serial rapist/murderer at large in the upper CT Valley, wouldn't everyone there want that person caught? I don't get it.

hi sophie bean and all .we still have no real proof that Maura was ever in Haverhil.we do know she attended school in amherst but her claas schedule ,work schedule and clinical schedule and anything prior to her last weekend there is closed to the public. the info we have about have new hampshire is at some point someone maybe drove mrMurrays car there with some of Mauras things in it.thats it take care philip

Yes if it was my daughter I would be interested in the place where she vanished but I would be even more interested as to why she was so upset and left her school and family without a word to me and her loved ones and took off in a car that was unsafe for such a long trip. Didn't she also lie and say there was a death in the family so she could leave school?
I'm afraid I agree with Whiston. Whatever drove her to leave and then vanish started before she ever left MA.
The little trickles of information that was given to the ones that spent so many hours trying to figure out what happened on the MMM site speaks volumes.

hi all we dont know that Maura loaded her car or if it was still not unloaded after christmas 03 break when Maura spent an unknown amount of time in bridgeport ct with mrMurray.she went to NYC with her boyfriend to look for a ring.i am thinking she was there dec 28th for some reason. she visited with her mother over christmas but i still dont know for how long yet.this whole mystery will be solved when the month before Maura left amherst each and every day is accounted for, this is my intention. take care philip

I agree that you don't get it. Of course everyone would want a rapist/murderer caught.Why would we want ourselves or our children put in danger by covering for such a criminal?
What if we do not believe it was someone in our area that caused Maura's disappearance? What if it was someone from another state going to their condo or the local ski areas? What if Maura just wanted to vanish into thin air?
There are a lot of what if's but any one of them could be true since no one knows for a fact why she left MA or what happened after she left.

Wowzer, I am not at all saying that people are "covering up for" a murderer or rapist who is known.
I am saying that there have been many murders and disappearances in the upper CT Valley that remain unsolved, and I wonder if that fact may be relevant to Maura's disappearance. That's all. Surely there are people in VT and NH who wonder and worry about those cases, too - aren't there?

You are correct in saying that we do not know why she left MA - or even IF she left MA. If she met with foul play in Bath/Haverhill, it certainly could have been someone "from away."

Another question - if Maura had no intention of returning to school, why would she "need to lie" in order to leave school?

This is easy. You would always want to give yourself enough time to get away. No one is going to look for you if they know that you are away because of a death in the family. I mean your not really missing are you, if they "know" where you are? If you want to delay people from looking for you as long as possible let them think they know where you are.

And lets not forget we are not talking about a single lie. She also said that she had a roommate that was able to help her the night she was having her crying jag at work. No roommate and no death in the family.
