I never got to read that article about Maura in the June 2004 Seventeen Magazine. I ordered that issue on ebay and it should be here today or tomorrow. I'd be glad to scan it and send it as an email attachment to anyone who wants it. If I post it all here I assume I'd be violating copyright laws? I can also mail out hard copies. I'll check with Advocator too about the possibility of putting on the new forum.

Sorry was speaking Blonde.
I don't have it with me but will look tonight pretty sure what the logs list in the paper are
vague description.
There was a section of the Dispatch record that
had them listed as well do you have that?
What I meant to say was I believe because HPD was at the Pike in a School so why wouldn't they pick up speeding trucks/cars.
The red truck came about much much later!
So I think it was easy to tie in that they knew they where hidings stuff theory.
Make sense?

Don't worry about scanning it - just tell us if it gives specifics & what they are. You stated you think only the red trucks were speeding to create a "hook"?? Which means a group of red truck owners got together, said "Hey - let's all speed past Pike School - that'll really confuse them when RO tells LE about the red truck she saw!!" Ah...don't think so.

Right....yankee asked twice, so I reiterated.
I appreciate the advance work done by Advocator, and look forward to organization and logic at whatever location and in whatever format is chosen.
At the same time, I also hope the issues of how a new site will be moderated can be worked out to everyone's satisfaction.
Interesting that both of the posts (page 513,#10318 & #10326) asking where the site/forum is located have both completely disappeared.

Wonder why???

Most of my stuff is from Journal Opinion or the Cal-Record.
If you do a list for me I am more than happy to look up dates and issues.
The coolest thing about having in at the paper is
I got to go back and read papers a few weeks prior
to Maura missing and months afterward which was
handy since started 2 years later on it.

Snowy, Firecat or White Wash - I'm working on bookmarking any articles written re: Maura - directly from the paper not pasted in the forum. Could one of you guys tell me which paper it was written in AND the date it was published in the paper? Thanks so much!

"It has never made sense to me why she would leave a prestigious institution like West Point, and a prestigious career,(engineering, being a military officer) and go into nursing, of all things.

Nursing, as much as many people in the field refuse to admit it, is nothing but a blue collar job.(However, that is not the topic of this thread so please don't make this a discussion related to nursing.) "

I know what we have been told for the last almost 5 years. If we have been lied to for 5 years that is of interest. If they just said we don’t want to discuss it because we don’t feel its relevant that would have been different than making something up and lying, IF THAT IS WHAT HAPPENED and I don’t know if it is. Is it relevant if during her time at WP she was found to use drugs? How about stealing? What about cheating? What about a psychiatric disorder? Is any of that relevant? Doesn’t that open more possibilities for places to she might be? Doesn’t it also change the crowds you might want to look at as suspects or associates? If it doesn’t than I don’t think you are really thinking with any depth.
There have been several times that I felt as though the collective was jerked around. While they spent weeks and months on certain information trying to figure it out, others in the group knew all along what the answer was and didn’t say anything while everyone cycled through the same scenarios over and over. I wish I could search the old forum for specific examples but I can’t. Then certain tidbits would be released to titillate, such as the missing panties. How long did they know about that before it came out? Is it even relevant or just another hook to keep people involved? There plenty of people who want to hammer the police about what was done but there is plenty of blame when it comes to how this was and is being handled by the family as well.
Bill
I'm still furious about there being all along a few "select" people who knew things, didn't share them, and that caused us to waste our time spinning our wheels while they must've sat there with smug smiles... or just not caring about our time. I'm still angry about that. So ---- what should be done with this? If someone knows what it is should they post it? Would it be hypocritical for them to make their own private decision that it's not really relevant? Bill, these are real questions --- I want to toss this around -- not being sarcastic. If details are posted and there's a consensus that it's not really relevant, then it's already given "angry people" or whatever you call those who rant, something more to rant about. So, how do you find a balance with something like this?

The judge that ruled against Fred getting to view all of the information that LE holds said that the case was 75% solved? Do we think he is lying or does LE have a suspect in mind? If they do, what possible reason would they have after almost five years of not at least taking him/her into custody? Any scenarios or reasons in mind anyone?

Mason - re:
Part 4 of 5
Moving beyond the revelations in the charts and into speculation, I recall a fact that didn’t make much of an impression on me when I first read it. I’m referring to the birth control pills that were discovered in her car. I also recall that she had four more pills than she should have had if she had been taking them every day. Now I feel real stupid because it looks like she stopped taking her pills four days earlier, which was Friday.

The missing pills -
1) I haven't read anywhere that the pills that were missing were the actual birth control pills or the placebos that come in the pack.(these pills are taken during your period to keep the woman in the habit of taking a pill each day)
2) Many women will stop taking their birth control pills to regulate when they'll have their period that month.
3) And finally, I've known a few girls "back in the day" when they simply had trouble remembering to take the darn things on a daily basis.

My point in all of this sex education talk (LOL) is I'm really not sure if we should put great significance on the missing pills.

The fact that it was the ninth of the month and the fact that Maura had five birth control pills missing from her packet HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH EACH OTHER.(you're a guy, I'll give you a break for not knowing this! LOL)

A woman starts taking the pill thusly:

With your first packet of pills, you let them sit around once you get home from the OB/GYN or whatever, until the first day of your next menstrual cycle. Then you take the first pill of the first pack. Regardless of what the date on the calendar is.

Unless you're on the 21-day pack of pills, which necessitates remembering to NOT take a pill for 7 days and then start up again, there are 28 pills in a pack. Note that there aren't 28 days in most months.

So the date on the calendar is not consistent with the number on the calendar.

The reasonable thing to assume here is that Maura started a new pack of pills on February 4.

This doesn't mean she might not have been pregnant, but odds are against it......mistakes happen in taking pills, and sometimes people get pregnant anyway.

Truly bizarre. I double-checked before replying to you.
The whole scene here is strangely toxic...not hopeful...starting from the re-emergence of BeagleBart.

Gosh, it's hard to make a sensible point here...given FireCat's post was judged nuts.
Completely agree, FireCat.
And yankee, making the decision to leave a prestigious institution/change a major is often difficult...and may be perceived as a loss and/or failure by a high-achieving student.
Chem Eng is not a cakewalk.
Deans of Students will tell you this can be a critical juncture, where even some very bright students may choose not to transfer and just drop-out.
Social considerations are also significant in having to re-establish new friendships.
I give Maura tremendous credit for making the switch from WP to UMASS.
I have witnessed these issues, first-hand.
That may all be true, but if she was asked to leave it really isn't pertinent.

LOL - course I had to go look too! I found 10408 & 10413 - yankees & snowy's request. Better hurry - they'll probably be moved again by the time you look!(I've noticed this before on Topix - you go back to look for a post and it's pages away from where you were sure it was before...who knows - weird)

Looking for a moose

You are correct - on your "handset" that is what it says - not on your statement. We don't have Maura's handset/phone. Statements/bills and internal billing systems show incoming call or your own phone number. To get the incoming call phone number you have to work with an engineer. Hope that helps.
