I do think Atwood would have been able to see from his vantage point, whether it be from the bus or his front porch.

Hi Anne...
Let's give them the straight info on that night. Feb. 9th 2004 at approx. 7:05 pm. It should shed some light. |
|
Judged: 1 1 1 7:07 pm -- Faith Westman calls 911 and reports the accident that she heard a little after 7 pm. 7:09 pm -- Sgt Smith is dispatched to investigate the accident Faith Westman reported. He passes the Cottage Hospital employee on Goose Lane headed toward Swiftwater and Rte. 112 around 7:10 pm. Anne hears over the radio about the single car accident with the car sliding off the road into a ditch on Rte 112. 7:23 pm -- The SBD's wife gets through to 911 and reports the same accident that Faith Westman reported. A few minutes later Anne hears that the driver left the scene in a privately owned vehicle. 7:26 pm -- Sgt Smith arrives at the scene of the accident after a brief detour when he turned the wrong way on Rte 112 and had to turn around and head E/B. If this sequence of events and times is accurate, then Mrs. Atwood must have been the caller who reported the driver left the scene in a POV. If so, her source could only have been Butch Atwood, the SBD, which is consistent with the suspicion many people have expressed that he must have seen the driver leave the scene. I don't think there's much doubt that Mr. Atwood has given conflicting versions of what he saw and did at the scene of the accident, so his credibility is tarnished, if not in tatters, to put it mildly. |

The 'trigger' for that night was Swiftwater and 'female' left in private vehicle. I think one point missing is that this was a long scanner call 45 minutes chatter and call at least. I will send this now and hope it goes and add more...

I donwant to get into the time but I believe it was slightly before 7 and my husband believes it was slightly after
|

I immediately called my friend and left a message because no answer and I was in a panic after. I might add here that she returned my 2 calls at about 7:30.

Judged: 1 Yeah, I also don't believe Smith is involved and I agree that Atwood was certainly in a position to see what happened. Detective Columbo, do you know why Fred Murray placed the wreath about 100 feet closer to the Weathered Barn than the actual "accident" scene? Is it a coincidence that the Saturn would not have been visible from Atwood's front porch? Did Atwood tell Fred Murray where the Saturn supposedly crashed? |
|
Anne...
Did you hear on the scanner that the acc. you are talking about was on Swiftwater rd./Goose Lane. Swiftwter rd. turns into goose lane for clarification to those who don't know. |

This friend was spending her first winter in NH on Hill road and had grown up in Florida. She worked in Orford and because of the earlier snow had opted to take the long way up the interstat and had seen some of the flashing lights when she turned and headed up her hill. She works as a investigative assistant and I finally tracked her down in 2006. She does not remember details other than my 2 frantic calls..

Oh Its far more than 1/8th of a mile on those trails....they wind in and out, up and down.....nothing is direct although on a map it may appear that way. Just to get from Old Peter's Rd through the trails, down the old ski area to Valley near the lodge is at least 1/2 mile, probably further. |

Judged: 1 Not to be confused with Swiftwater Circle.....which is closer to where the Saturn was found |
Det. Columbo, I believe the initial call was not far as they were turned back and Swiftwater road is what I believe I heard.

I think it is important to note here for you that at the time of this accident, I had no idea where they were talking about accurately, but now 4 plus years later, I have looked for Maura all around these twisted roads and have a better understanding of the complicating roads. What we heard and what we know personally now are different.

Judged: 2 2 2 Yes.... Swiftwater Circle also. A Grafton co. Sheriff lives in the 1st house on the left on that rd. if you take the first entrance coming from the acc. scene. |
