To what degeree of likelihood do you think that the damage to the car was done to conceal the Vasi accident?
<quoted text>
It's hard to say what the ABSOLUTE likelihood is that the Saturn struck Vasi, but even if the chance is one in a hundred, it's still worth pursuing.

However, the likelihood of a Saturn hit-and-run RELATIVE to other theories is about 100 percent, simply because there are no other theories except fragmentary ones. The Vasi theory may, in fact, be chock full of holes, but at this point, what other theory explains so much from Thursday evening in Amherst to Monday night in Haverhill?

There is no attempt to advocate an undeviating, mindless devotion to a Vasi hit-and-run scenario – far from it – but the inexplicable resistance to such a promising theory reveals much. How is it possible that Haverhill has received so much detailed attention and Amherst almost none? Shouldn't there be a better balance?

If a hit-and-run theory cannot hold up under scrutiny, then rule it out by examining, impartially, its strong and weak points. If the hit-and-run theory fails, that's progress. But if it holds up, that's progress, too.

It is believed she came up 91.
So from Amherest to West Lebanon is 100.76 miles and 1 hour and 48 mins.
From there she would have travelled to Wells River
which is 42.92 miles and 48 mins.
From Wells River to Swiftwater 7.80 and 21 mins.
Gives us what 2 hours and 17 mins.
Well she was at the bank then to the liquor store
so if she left around 5ish then that would put her where? The accident site!

Amherst to Swiftwater =+/- 150 miles = 50 mph X 3 hours. Or other combinations using 150 miles.
Was the damage to the hood done by the wrecker that picked up the Saturn at the Rt 112 crash scene? Is this a known fact?

Not damaged when - or after - it was towed from the Rt. 112 scene that Smith responded to?

Could the Saturn have sustained the damage to the hood before it arrived at the Rt. 112 crash scene?

Good point, but Maura may have left Amherst as early as 4:00 PM.

Oh my God Fred Murray has admitted in the press he was the one who gave the team the glove for
the first search!
Get the facts right will you!
And HPD took photographs of the damage that NIGHT
before it was towed what part of that being standard don't you people get?

Maura was an avid hiker in New Hampshire. That said, "Why would she even think she could walk off without protection from the elements?" The reconstruction of the scene conducted by professionals yeilded evidence of foul play...THE CAR WAS STAGED! The amount of damage to her car was not consistant with runnung into a snow/ice bank nor was it consistant with hitting trees. The female discribed was NOT a discription of Maura. The extensive damage done to the front of her car was done after towing. The night of the accident NOairbags were deployed, that didn't happen until it was behind the garage. Talking about a trailor hitch and the possibility of her car coming in contact with one.....Why was it that a white Ford explorer owned by the HPD was involved in an accident, and had a trailor hitch, but was quickly sold to someone in Littleton? There was a white SUV seen in the vacinity that night... When you match the front bumper of a Saturn to the rear bumper of an explorer there is enough room for the Saturn to go just under it...If ST Monohan was there why was there no report? C. Smith gave a brand new leather glove to the dog team for a scent to track, why the glove and not some other articles that were in the car, instead of a new pair of gloves? The fire dept and EMS or EMT's are part of search and rescue in New Hampshire so knowing there was an accident victim out there presumable intoxicated, with a head injury(This spells danger)why in gods name would a senior officer turn them away if there was nothing to hide.
I suggest everyone take a hard look into the first eyewitness description given. I believe it was all in the description of the person seen leaving the accident, meaning the desxription was right just not Maura....

I had a rather interesting conversation once with someone about the extent of the car damage at the Weathered Barn scene. And Silky once said some damage occurred in the yard after it was towed to Lavoies. We discussed the fact that the hard cover to the airbag on the driver side in a blown up photo looks like it was pryed off with a screwdriver and replaced, and that the drivers side airbag fibers look like it was cut by someone left handed. Also, the possible scratches near the rear license plate, as though someone attempted to remove it.

white wash...the only public statement I've ever read regarding Fred and the glove was his disappointment in the fact that LE chose the glove as a scent article.

If Maura exited I-91 at Wells River, and was headed toward Bartlett, and if she used a map, then it's hard to understand why she would have chosen 112 over 302 unless she planned on taking 116 up to 302 again, thinking that it was shorter. Or maybe she chose a destination on 116. Anything on 116 of possible interest?

Going to Bartlett by looking at a map, which is all Maura would have had, 302/I-93 is a much better route and about 20 miles shorter than sticking with 112 through Lincoln and continuing over to Conway then up to Bartlett. Even the most casual glance at a map would reveal the difference. Maybe she took a wrong turn at 112, maybe something else.

Might be worth checking the directions supplied by various resorts in the area to see whether any of them recommend a 112 to 116 route. Or another route.

"Oh my God" your own self, the press has been known to get things wrong, especially in this case. Do you have a link to an article where this is? Has this been verified with Fred through an independent source? A newspaper recently quoted HPD as saying they left several messages with Fred's machine beginning shortly after Maura disappeared--Fred disputes this, saying he received ONE message. Unless this can be verified with Fred, depending on who reported this, I would not hold it as fact.(this is why my old signature said "Dewey wins!") If you can provide me with the link, it'd be most helpful.

HPD has done much in this case that has not been standard. Are these pictures publicly available or part of what Fred was suing to have access to? Have you seen them? Again, a link would be helpful if they're available to the public. If not, how do you know they were taken? Again, given the amount of non-standard behaviour that night on EVERYBODY'S part, I'd be hesitant to assume that pictures were taken unless we see them. Which is, again, why Fred was suing.

Would it be worth discovering whether Maura or someone close to her called the ICU in an attempt to learn Vasi's exact condition?

How would LE know NOT to use the gloves? I know it has been said that the gloves were a recent gift, but LE wouldn't know that--in fact, gloves would probably be one of the best options to search with being that they are worn close to the skin and may touch other the persons face, etc. in the course of a day.

I would think that would be helpful, but in thinking it through, I'm not sure its possible. To the best of my knowledge, hospitals don't keep a record of all incoming calls, and Maura was pretty secretive about who her friends at UMass were so its been tough to contact them directly

Maura was at the security desk when Vasi was hit on Feb 5th. This has already been confirmed long ago.

Did Maura know Vasi? Were they friends?

Was her steering wheel checked for DNA of others? Is older DNA different than newer DNA? I mean, is there some way to see more recent DNA versus the DNA of a previosu owner?

BeagleBart, everything is worth investigating in a case with no answers. I can't wrap my mind around her hitting Vasi though. Having two accidents in such a short period of time is not likely either. The problem is, we have no new answers that have come forth from Umass in over 3 years. It's hard to sift through the totally unknown.
Airing my mind......Some people's computer time may be better spent continuing their education than painfully attempting to mis-educate others. I know a lady who is biting her tongue real hard right now. lol Not hard to deciphre that distinct style. Do you have a photo to share with us? My fuse is long, but this one is the mosquito in my tent every time.
