James Renner wrote that book I recently mentioned about Amy Mihaljevic. Today I discovered his website where he continues to hunt for her killer. I don't know him, but we can all sure understand him. He's an inspiration to get up, and out, and travel, and just plain talk to people -- he's found out new things since he published his book. Here's his website, in fractured form to conform to TOPIX rules. I'm glad I read the book first to understand the cast of characters. And in reading this blog I was SICKENED by how little punishment (time) a possible suspect had gotten for the rape of another 12-year-old girl. God!!! http :// amymihaljevic .blogspot. com/2006_10_01_ archive.html |

We've definitely got defamation, but as nothing from nothing equals nothing, and the subject is without assets or even the stability of an established domicile, he has little to lose except for the soiling of his own reputation and a stain on his character.
Resolution may come unexpectedly or in a manner never anticipated, along with a little boost from Karma. I am grateful for many teachers. Of course I will print your posts for reference. The info you've provided should be useful to others, as well. My kindest regards to you, Fred... Snowy |

I was stunned to know someone could disappear under those circumstances...and assumed she'd be quickly found. Several years later, her photos drew me back to her story. Someone recently suggested that awareness at UMASS has surely subsided. Beagle's idea of a wider focus, North and South, makes sense....seems like Amherst has been neglected. |

Judged: 1 Last year Saratoga Springs [track team] was ranked No. 1 in the country by Foot Locker... When another parent made charges to the school district last year regarding what he believed were the [track coaches] Kranicks' excessive training methods, the Karls rallied other parents to support the Kranicks. "We brought 15 parents to meetings to show how great the Kranicks are," Mr. Karl said. "Meanwhile, behind our backs, our kids were getting megadoses of B-12." The rift began last November. Mr. Karl left an angry message on the Kranicks' answering machine, disagreeing with coaching decisions during a cross-country meet that day that directly affected Elizabeth Karl's placement in another competition. "I'm disgusted," Mr. Karl said, quoted in a transcript that appears in court papers. "If I do something, it's going to be damn radical." Mr. Karl said the real breach came when his daughter Erin told him early this year that team members took B-12. Starting in January, Mrs. Karl starting writing letters alleging a variety of infractions by the Kranicks, from secretive distribution of B-12 supplements against school policy, requirements that the runners practice on Sundays and during the summer or risk their places on the teams, verbal intimidation and creation of a "cultlike" atmosphere. ********** One or both of the Kranicks were credited with having made possible the apprehension of John Regan after what appeared to be his attempt to abduct a leading track star on the team coached by one or both Kranicks. Regan is from Waterbury, Connecticut, home, basically, of the discovery of the first reliable antioxidant. I believe there is an excellent chance that the PI who investigated both the Murray and Bish disappearances was on the payroll of a sister company to the original Naugatuck Chemical. I believe the fox was guarding the chicken coop. Especially since the owner of one the sister chicken coops is a close family friend. |

Actually, after some reflection, I've changed my mind. I really don't believe discussing Amherst will help very much. |
||||
This is a very good point. The FBI was in Amherst and along with UMass PD, they did, according to the Murray family, an excellent job. There seems to be little sense in looking at Amherst more closely. What else could anyone find, anyway. It's already been examined by federal and local LE. |

With the activation of telomerase, some types of cells and their offspring become immortal, that is, their chromosomes will not become unstable no matter how many cell divisions they undergo (they bypass the Hayflick limit), thus avoiding cell death as long as the conditions for their duplication are met. Many cancer cells are considered 'immortal' because telomerase activity allows them to divide virtually forever, which is why they can form tumors.

Beagle, don't put words in my mouth, I did not say that Amherst should no longer be looked at, imho. |

Judged: 1 I'm sorry, Anne. I didn't mean to put words in your mouth. I agree with you 100 percent. |
||||
Again, I apologize, Anne. I was simply trying to agree with you that Amherst has not been neglected - because, as you wisely pointed out, Amherst has been looked at by the FBI. The Murray family seemed very pleased with the combined work of UMass PD and the FBI. I went on to add to that thought by saying that if the UMass PD and the FBI had already looked at Amherst and did a good job, then it seemed rather unlikely that an online discussion would find more information, but you never know. I'm certainly not opposed to looking at Amherst more. |
||||
Anne is correct. Amherst has not been neglected. The Murray family, according to reports, were very happy with the investigation conducted in Amherst by the FBI and the UMass PD. I just wanted to make it very clear that I agree with Anne that Amherst has not been neglected. I hope I said it right this time. Sorry for any misunderstanding.
