Euro, There are sad and unexplained disappearances way too often for my gut but when young people go missing I am thankful for this new alert system. The news pictured her parents and her Dad and the VSP who were checking their computer with her My Space page where she was communicating with someone on the internet whom she was going to meet at a local store. They searched near the 'floating bridge' and plan to return tomorrow there....

I just tried to verify this by calling the Randolph PD and VSP. Amazingly they barely even acknowledge that a girl is missing, let alone kidnapped or endangered. Not sure why. Must be some kind of protocol.

Beagle Bart, I have always understood the lack of information in an ongoing investigation, but am surprised they could not at least confirm. It does go to show you how LE can close ranks fairly quickly! Just check WCAX channel 3 news out of Burlington, they will show it.

I'm sorry, its such a common landmark for us around here, there is a floating bridge in Brookfield Vt.,,,its a tourist attraction and actually pretty neat, a bridge that sits right down on the river. The news report showed it.

Thanks for your reply. Is there an address for the Cumberland Farms Store? Randolph PD said there were three of them and didn't know which one she disappeared from. Maybe they keep mum for good reasons, hard to say.

Beagle Bart, I believe they said Randolph Center, maybe that would be hlepful. I would assume they keep mum for good reasons.

I found a Cumberland Farms at 7 Main St, near the Depot Square and Amtrak Station. Are there any other Cumberland Farms in Randolph?

Same day as eight years ago at Comins Pond in Warren, MA when the guy was in the parking lot after Mrs. Bish dropped off her daughter.

I cannot believe this. Brooke Bennett has been missing since Wednesday AM, her FAMILY found some of her clothes near the floating bridge and divers will search the waters near the bridge on FRIDAY????

This is exactly what John and Magi Bish have urged family and LE NOT to do. The Bishes urge everyone to more or less OVER-react, simply because so much is at stake. But everyone seems to be taking this all in stride in Randolph, as if she just skipped school and will come back in a couple of days. And maybe she will. Hopefully she will, but why just assume so? Maybe I haven't seen all the news. I checked the WCAX station for the story.

The increased cost of beach stickers gets more publicity and attention. Excuse me, I'm venting. This is just plain wrong.

Wait a second now, It's the CW who places himself 4 miles from home on 112 one hour from crash time and crash time was about 15 minutes before the eyewitness calls went in to police. He clocked out of work at 7 and hit the road for wherever.....because it takes half an hour to make the drive home, he surely must have been right close and seen the whole shebang since he lives right there, geeze. And if it weren't for Minnie doing the right thing/turning his stories in to police, they would not have gone to HIM to check on this story where he says he didn't say it was a woman and he never said anything to police prior because he was messed up on the dates. I could try and find the notes for you if you're interested in hearing more. As for my saying it was crazy, I'm just referring to the whole jig

Also, anybody rushing along in the near dead of night may or may not have been connected to this somehow.....I've wondered about that and if the area where that person was rushing should be searched if someone was up to no good and CW story turns out to be true after all.

I have a hard time buying it when someone says two days later to police, no, I didn't hear anything, I didn't see anything, I don't know about this accident. And later on he goes on to say he was asleep and that would explain it because someone had told him the accident happened at 1am.

Heck, RO was walking that night too so I realize some people will brave the elements. But if someone is rushing along, dashing, avoiding your gaze, they might be up to no good. So now I'm thinking maybe police bought that story to not only bring hope that Maura might still be alive and went her own way afterall, redirected the search to that area looking for the "perp" seen rushing along that night.

just me, It certainly appears that LE found CW sighting important and reliable to organize a search based on what he said. It certainly moved the focus to a different area.

hi all.if Mauras saturn was about to be traded or sold makes sense to me to have it up and running if that was the plan for that weekend.i am guessing mrMurray would have got more from a private sale.did Maura have a buyer lined up, was someone doing a test drive .mrMurray said he and Maura would get together every 3 weeks to a month or so.does this mean that the car deal was planned for that weekend so Maura would not have to wait 3 or 4 weeks for a car.was mr Murray in amherst to car shop.take care philip

I´ve been going back to some of my notes from the old MMM Forum.
According to Mr & Mrs W (of the house just opposite the supposed crash site of Maura´s car) they heard an acceleration, followed by a kind of thud.
Looking at the Google Maps of the area I was wondering whether the sound of acceleration might have been from an accelerating truck actually towing the damaged Saturn and then dropping the Saturn off, now facing east in the westbound lane of the 112.
Could a truck towing the Saturn have come down Bradley Hill Road, stopping at the T junction with Rt 112, accelerating, dropping the Saturn, continuing westwards towards Swiftwater village, and then????

Could it even possibly have been the same red truck with MA (?) plates which the female witness observed while walking on Rt112 in that area at about the same time?

Would this fit with the known time line???

A correction to my previous post (#1593)- I got the directions wrong in that post.
The Saturn was of course left on Rt112 with the hood facing west (Haverhill) in the eastbound (Lincoln)lane.

Also interesting to note that they got the title of the book wrong. The book is called "NOT without Peril." (I have a copy, and have read it, and all attempts to portray it as an indication that Maura was suicidal are way off-base.)
