I only lurked on the old MM forum because I saw what happened to the few that dared to have a new idea or a different scenerio.. They were called "red herrings" and it was insinuated they were posting to change the direction of the scenerio that was being talked about at the time.
The name calling was beyond cruel as were the accusations and local people's names and where they lived were made public.
Soooooo Dawn I would suggest that you take the time to go back over old posts here and then there should be no question as to why people don't want to become involved. Even the nosiest busybody is not stupid.

Yes, Wowzer. But I don't if it's an intention to mislead, or a matter of being misinformed. Personally, I was told many things that I doubt now. I cannot go into it, except to say that I'm hoping there was a good reason for it.(if there's ever a good reason)

if i'm not mistaken, we new englanders, as opposed to the left coast folks, have a heightened sensitivity to 'privacy' in our culture...more so as one proceeds northward.

I don't believe that Maura was the one who put the rag in the tailpipe. I wonder if the rag was ever tested by the crime lab. Although the rag was left in the tailpipe for the ride to Lavoie's garage on a flatbed/rolloff wrecker.

We also air on tv all sex offendors - with their home address - list the crimes and how many. Once you commit a crime like that you should lose your anonimity to protect children.

Lady Gray some of the facts are things I have stated here for some time, some quite recently. Either no one believed what I said or it was totally ignored or maybe I wasn't clear enough.
Look back at the biggest accusers for answers.
To give you facts I would have to accuse someone here of lying and since I've seen firsthand the damage that can do on a public forum I refuse to be a part of it. Look back and keep an open mind and you will see the facts for yourself.

All the names of the people who lived close have not been a secret for 5 years - nor her friends since they 'went on the record'. So my questions is why the town busybody - has not posted. That is still my question and I am sticking to it.

When White Wash or photogirl came on the old to forum to say that she and others had stopped to help look for Maura that night, I was deeply touched and greatful. Not only that there was a much bigger effort taking place to find Maura than we knew, but because it made me feel good that so many cared. Then RO at some point let it be known that someone was looking for another, possibly on foot and did she perhaps see anyone on foot. For all the times the pitbull in me came out, it was because I was defending something I thought was true.
I was never a part of any "click", if there was one and spent a good amount of time pouting on the MMM forums. I felt ignored, but then I am a big baby that way. I tried to stay on the subject and it's not easy for me to stay on any subject unless I am angry. It was only me though, beginning to realize that i didn't have to have feedback or PM's to be heard and i wasn't there for that anyway, i was there to help figure what happened to Maura.

I don't believe Maura put the rag there either. It had been said that Fred may have taught her that. But here we go again.....the tailpipe is down low, the rag was clean when pulled out. The tailpipe would have been too hard to reach, and for what at that point? That is, if Maura is busted right away by BA pulling up, why bother trying to avoid detection if the car was smaoking?
