This is my first time involved in any forum of any kind. Anyone with any info on Maura knew she was very involved in sports and excelled in track. She ran everyday rain or shine no matter what.
If you know all this for sure, maybe you know exactly what kind of drugs or supplements she was taking, too?

I don't remember ever reading that she ran everyday rain or shine no matter what but I could very well have missed it. Didn't she pull something in her leg which caused her to take aspirin or Tylenol?
You know quite a bit about her, do you happen to know any of her family by chance?

If she's buried near the Rt. 112 curve, it might be deep, maybe near the rifle range. It was a relatively mild winter that year.

Twenty-one year old Maura Murray went missing on Monday, February 9th 2004. She has had an especially close relationship with her father, Fred Murray. Maura’s immediate family also consists of her mother, Laurie Murray, and her siblings: Freddie, Kathleen, Julie and Kurtis. Maura had been dating William Joseph Rausch, a lieutenant in the U.S. Army.

Maura and Billy met at the United States Military Academy at West Point where she was a cadet from June 2000 through mid-January 2001. They started dating in the fall of 2001. Although Billy had not yet given Maura her diamond, they were openly making plans to be married after she graduated in 2005. Maura had made arrangements in January 2004 to be employed for the summer of 2004 at a hospital near where Billy is stationed.

Maura has been both an outstanding student and athlete. She had scored 1420 on her SAT (740 in Math) and had been majoring in Chemical Engineering at West Point when she transferred to UMass in late January 2002. Maura continued her pursuit of Chemical Engineering Degree through her first two semesters at UMass until she decided she would rather be in the medical field.

Maura had been recruited by many schools to run track and cross country. She competed in Track and Cross Country for both West Point and UMass Amherst until the fall of 2003. Weather was not a consideration for Maura and her love of running. She ran no less than 5-6 miles each day. She was dedicated to daily running in spite of hot or cold temps, rain or snow. Maura routinely ran 5 kilometers in just over 18minutes, and still holds competitive both Track and Cross Country records. Tom Zamagni, one of her soccer and basketball coaches when she was in elementary school,l said that when Maura Murray broke the girl's two-mile track record at Whitman-Hanson High School, she did so by 40 seconds. The record still stands

As a freshman, she played point guard on the girls' varsity basketball team and was a good softball pitcher. Her father Fred, who coached her in youth sports, said that her best sport was soccer.

Although she later concentrated on track, she could have starred in other sports as well, Zamagni said. "She was incredible — a great athlete," he said.

Maura also loved to camp and hike. Her favorite camping and vacation spot is in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. Her father had been taking her there since she was a small child. Fred, Maura and Billy had spent a vacation together in the White Mountains in July of 2003.

In May, we celebrated Maura’s 22nd birthday without her. A ‘Circle of Hope’ was held by Fred Murray’s family and friends in Weymouth, MA. Laurie Murray’s brother, Ricky, family and friends met in their ‘Circle of Hope’ in Yankton, SD. Maura’s sister Julie and Maura’s boyfriend Bill Rausch, both lieutenants in the army, joined in their ‘Circle of Hope’ at their respective army posts. In Ohio, Bill’s parents Bill and Sharon Rausch invited their family along with friends of Maura for a ‘Circle of Hope’ at their home. The UMass Track Team also met in a ‘Circle of Hope’ while participating in The Atlantic 10 Track Meet in Richmond, VA. Maura’s other family and friends met in their “Circle of Hope” at The Whitman-Hanson High School Track in Hanson, MA.

"We've known her so long; we could talk about her for hours. In our group, she was the funny one, the adventurous one, the athletic one. She took all the roles." said Liz Drewniak, a best friend since elementary school.

"She was incredible — a great athlete," Tom Zamagni said.

"If you wanted to make a person, you would make her just like her." said Katie Jones another close friend of Maura’s since grade school.

Listen, I'm not name calling or being insulting to anyone on here. I don't use any pet names I have given my legal name and only speak what I know to be factual. I haven't posted any bizzare therories. I gave my only opinion of what I thought might have happened and it's not a flashy one. I have some spare time and I'm devoting it to finding out the truth. Have you even been to where it happened and walked the road looking for anything that might be a clue to her where abouts?

I first posted here on 11/29/2008. I began posting because I wanted to find out what happened to Maura. I realized the All American Girl Next Door image was a bullshit public relations stunt designed to create and sustain public interest in her disappearance. I don't require anyone to be perfect as a precondition to helping them, so I didn't care what she was into. I just wanted to help solve a mystery.

I firmly believe her family knows more than it has been willing to divulge, but I've been willing to cut them some slack because they have a right to privacy. There are some non-private facts, however, like the name of the gallery where Maura worked that the family will not divulge. I am sure they know where she worked and I cannot imagine any reasonable justification for refusing to disclose its name.

I believe it's fundamentally dishonest, disrespectful, and unfair to Maura and all of the people who have devoted their time and energy to solve her disappearance, to promote continuing interest in her case by misrepresenting who she was while obstructing efforts undertaken in good faith by people attempting to figure out why she suddenly left Amherst without informing any of her friends and family members. Legitimate concerns about her actions have been disingenuously brushed aside as normal college student behavior. Sorry, but suddenly deciding to ditch a semester of nursing clinicals only two weeks into a new semester and drive north by yourself into the White Mountains National Forest with less than $280 in a malfunctioning car that you refused to drive to your clinicals because you thought it would break down is not normal college behavior and it's absurd to claim that it is.

Fred Murray insists that her reasons for leaving school are irrelevant because she was abducted and killed by an opportunistic "dirt bag" who just happened to show-up during a ten-minute window of opportunity between the time the SBD left the accident scene and Sgt Smith arrived. I reject his opinion because the odds against such a person suddenly appearing at that remote location between 7:35 pm and 7:45 pm on a Monday night in February are overwhelming.

If Maura was a victim of foul play, I believe she was harmed by someone connected to her reason for suddenly fleeing Amherst.

If Maura was not a victim of foul play, she must have committed suicide, or she ran away and started a new life. I do not believe it's possible to form a reasoned opinion regarding which of these possibilities is more likely than the other without knowing why she left Amherst. Without the family's cooperation, I don't believe it's possible to figure out what happened to Maura.

Add to this Detective Columbo's occasional red herring intentionally inserted to refocus attention on Haverhill and we are faced with an impossible task. When I decided to get involved in trying to solve Maura's disappearance, I never dreamed that her family and its designated representative, Detective Columbo, would willfully, intentionally, and maliciously attempt to obstruct reasonable efforts by people with good intentions to solve her disappearance, but that is exactly what has happened. I do not know why they are blocking our efforts after they solicited our participation. I do know that I cannot continue to work under these duplicitous circumstances.

I walk away knowing that I can do nothing to help Maura, if she is dead, and if she is alive, the best thing I can do for her is to respect her decision, and walk away.

I don't think anyone has designated Columbo the family's representative. Neither he nor the family. Columbo, am I right in saying that? I believe he works on this independently from the team of PIs, as well.

I know you're pissed off, Fred, and frustrated, and I can certainly understand why you're frustrated about this case--but I honestly can't figure out where the anger at Columbo suddenly comes from. I know Beagle believes that he's been willfully misleading us, but I for one sure as hell don't. And I don't know how many other people do.

What makes you feel that, all of a sudden? Just trying to understand where you're coming from.

KMayotte's post seemed to me to be only about that night, not that KM suggested couseling in the past.(not exact quote) "I previously advised her to seek couseling or at least go out for coffee that night after work"... I think what KM said about counseling was something said earlier in that night's emotional scene. If I find the exact quote again, I'll reread it --- I'd like to hear what you all think after taking another look at it.

You have never been there as you would know that there is no way you could dig a hole deep enough to hide someone. 112 follows the Wild Ammonousic River and it's way to rocky.
