I'm not sure, regarding the AAA plus membership, if the 100 mile towing could have been used again so close to the previous towing. I know three lockouts a month are allotted per memebership, if I recall correctly.

There's something about AAA, no calls that evening anywhere up there....the supervisor said she even checked Haverhill MA, no calls there either.
Strange.

True, but what about calls originating much farther south. Putney? Brattleboro? Greenfield? Northampton? Last I knew, which was about 5-8 years ago, AAA allowed 5 towings a year. I don't know what the rules were in 2004, but it's not unusual for someone to have a disabled car towed first to one location just to get it out of the way, and then have it towed a few days later to a repair shop. So I doubt two towings in even just a few days would be prohibited. And it may have been towed under someone else's card and name, too.

Exactly 100 miles. Not that it means anything, but it's one of those six degree things that make good fiction.

Whitson's suggestion of a list is excellent. One is long overdue. I don't know how to go about establishing one online, but I'm sure it's possible. That way various scenarios can be "graded" - Professor?- and then something more resembling a story line might emerge.

Tin foil head defers to Prof. ObMo (avec la langue des signes de Jesus) for critiques of the various narratives. Is there a quorum yet?

As the former owner of not one but two vintage VWs from the 60s, the answer is YES. They will tow you.(They will laugh at you, but they will tow you.) As long as your car isn't in the same place they towed it to the first time--meaning you can't have it towed to Garage A, change your mind, and then call AAA to have it towed from Garage A to Garage B. You need to theoretically have fixed it (or at least tried) and then driven it somewhere else and have it conk out again.

Sadly, I know the answer to this from firsthand experience.(ever try to find rebuilt VW parts in Montana on a holiday weekend?)

Actually AAA does make it pretty clear when they pick you up that they are not going to ferry your car around for you--they make you tow it straight to the repair shop if at all possible. They don't want to tow it home for you today only to get called out tomorrow to tow it from your house to the garage. I'm pretty sure it's in the paperwork they have you sign, but I'd have to go out into the barn in the dark and root around in a dysfunctional VW to find that out for sure, because that's where the paperwork is, and I'd rather not do that on my third glass of wine.

What, you mean like starting an online poll? along the lines of "what do YOU think happened to Maura?" Dunno how you'd set one up, but it's an interesting idea. I remember Helena tried to set one up on the forum not too many months ago, but I don't know that anyone answered it. My problem with it was that it provided only 2 options, neither of which I felt accurately described what I thought most likely happened to her.(also there was no choice for "D: have no idea in heck yet but am still open to suggestion" )

Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?

I do have to say that one time I had my car towed first to my house, then from my house to the repair shop only a couple of days later. Both times through AAA. There was no problem about it. That would have been maybe around 2001-2002.

AAA....

my wildest theory of what happened to Maura:

That she was a "runner" for Nisivoccia and Health Group of New England.

my most common sense theory:
That whatever happened to Maura, happened in Swiftwater, NH.

Oh My.... 20 pages and counting....

Do you think she drove the Saturn there and that's where the damage occurred? At the Rt.112 crash site or before? Just curious.[Not a trick question.]

Hey Gup
Speaking of Fat Tony, how is Chucky doing down in Plymouth these days? You know, at the Village Shops with the New Age gal, what's her name, the nurse from Sturbridge? Angles by the Sea? I mean Angels by the Sea. They had that Ahretta thing for a while, too. What was her name? Gratta? Sort of like that Star Trek language they speak, isn't it? Oh yeah, Ahretta's web host was Tony Cuilla. He sure did know the horses.
But what was it with Jimmy's thing about the teeth, anyway? When Kevie flipped, none of them had any teeth.
Right Guppy?

You're dispatch in Somerville and you don't know Jimmy Bulger, Steve Flemmi, Tony Cuilla, Kevin Weeks, or Tom Shamshak?

Yes, I am off my meds because Mike Barnicle swiped them all 13 years ago to pay for access to Somerville's cheat sheets.

She wiped her hands quick, and shook hands, but her hand was soapy. She went out front with an order, and me and the Greek sat down. He generally helped her with the orders, but he was all hot to show me something, and he let her do it all alone. It was a big scrapbook, and in the front of it he had pasted his naturalization certificate, and then his wedding certificate, and then his license to do business in Los Angeles County, and the a picture of himself in the Greek Army, and then a picture of him and Cora the day they got married, and then all the clippings about his accident.
