No signs of a struggle. A number of neighbors watching at various times. At least one neighbor would have seen the car she jumped into (to take a ride), and that would have been on the news, for sure! Ans maybe later, an APB! Unless LE knew early on exactly who picked her up ... IF she really took a ride at the end of her scent trail...

The private detectives are wasting time and monies they could be making by cases that pay, for what? The Rep for New Hampshire is bring Maura's case to be looked at by a newly planned cold case squad, and for what? Because she went missing in Mass., ran off to start a new life. Sorry you present no logic to direct investigation away from Haverhill, that is not to say that the events and circumstances of Maura's disappearance began in Amherst and should be investigated. Perhaps you should take up you theory with the press and the District Attorney's office about the monies and resources being spent and used on a red herring. I am sure the citizens of Haverhill would be very interested to know that law enforcement is wasting resources knowingly to placate a disatisfied Father whose daughter has run off to Canada? or whatever scenario you have come up with, see how far you get with this and let us know the response. So lighten up, Beagle before you find yourself being sued by the people in the building across the street from Maura's dorm. You must take law enforcement to be fools, I realize that they have limited resources, but fools I do not imagaine them to be. Or in your scenario are they being paid to be quite like the private detectives because they too have a conflict of interest? Peri - ~ Beagle - sorry if I am out of line~ I think he was trying to say is VERY little has been done lately. I could stand to be corecected - ans mostly like will be. I hear Fred M hat even heard from NH in years - not even from AG advocate - this part not sure about.

That was when the locals in the immediate area of the accident were being falsely accused of having something to do with Maura's disappearance by name and called rats in a nest, illiterate, scum bags and I could go on and on. Shack wanted to Lysol the whole bunch of us. Remember Shack?? The queen of the attack ducks never let up on the malicious attack of the area, state and locals and it continues to this day . Remember Shack?? I would have been concerned of the outcome too if I was running that forum I totally agree. I used to look at that area on a map and feel a chill run up my spine. I was taught by MMM to believe that this area of NH was a dark and sinister place peopled by ignorant hillbillies. Most of my very negative feelings about this area came from Shack. Now years later I understand that what is dark and sinister may be in Maura's pre-Feb 9 2004 life and I have learned that the people of that part of NH have been horrifically slandered. Shack and her repeated over and over and over again - 3 Monkeys - hear no evil, see no evil etc. And repeated insistence that the locals "blame the victim" because one local dared to ask how Maura came to be on Rte 112 that night. If I were a local I would ask that exact question out of pure innocent curiosity and my need to put this missing person into some sort of context.

Could the Thursday night call that upset Maura have been from a Residence Counselor (or friend, even) who told her that she was being asked to leave UMass? Could a stolen item listed in the Police Logs of the UMass Amherst Daily Collegian have been found in her dorm room? Or was she caught on video at a store? Like one entry in the UMass Police Logs involved someone using a forged check to buy a laptop computer at (I think it was) the college bookstore? I understand UMass is the size of a city, but the police logs about stolen purses, laptops, etc. just got this idea started... Did Maura call her dad? Did her dad come up that weekend to help Maura get stuff in order? If I were a dad, I'd be concerned about my daughter, upset, disappointed, and angry because of how much I loved her. And then the Saturday night car accident? Was Maura told that this would not go on her permanent record if she sought counseling? Did she pack up the room that weekend? Was there a plan worked out, but Maura ran away "off script"? When in doubt, look for a pattern of behavior. These are not all my own ideas. Some may have been another poster's as we tossed it around. That person is welcome to take credit for his/her share. It often does seem that she was unravelling, coming undone.

You have figured out one the main tactics used by one of the key providers of BS on the forum that has been used by her for years. I have two properties in NH with my main house located in CT. One in the Whites and the other farther south near Lake Ossipee. I have camped and hiked for over two decades in the White Mountains and know the area and people pretty well. So well in fact that I would bring my boys, wife and mother-in-law up there for vacations summer after summer for years. Liked it so much I use to go camping up there with my nephew for years. Liked it so much I bought not one but two houses up there. Liked it so much I plan on spending much if not all of my retirement up there with my wife. Liked it so much that I spend at least one week alone camping in the Whites every year and have done so for years. Bravo to you for seeing what a twisted, distorted, jaundiced view that she has of the area and the people. It has to make someone wonder what she is trying to accomplish and does she even believe the BS that she throws around in a public forum. BRAVO to you. Bill

For over 5 years you have bashed the locals and the area unmercifully and now act so sweet and innocent welcoming a new local and saying they are a breath of fresh air. Yes it's sure refreshing compared to hearing for 5 years that the locals are illiterate rats that sleep in the same bed and need to be Lysoled. Your words are actually nauseating. Civility??? This is not easy for me - however Mason and Quija really made me think. Usually the answer is right in front of you. If the family won't give out that info - you really almost have no chance but have speculation and that is the last thing i would want to do.................... there has to be a reason. and I don't for minute think its LE. Ask some friends that are in police work... that many people dont stay quiet unless they think its for the best - and that is not.. sorry to say it in search efforts. doesn't mean she is dead.... lets just says as beagle would - in certain zoned area one would not ever comment on thy neighbor { snowy - its a joke - I mean it but not directed at you.. trying to explaine why - someone would not discuss.. }

We have done the Woodsville, Swiftwater, and Haverhill areas a great disservice.(IMO) LE knew what they were dealing with within 24 hours of the "accident" at the snowbank.(IMO)
