As a former member of the Varsity Swim Team of a university in the Big 10 Conference that ended each year ranked in the top 10 in the NCAA, I can say with a high degree of certainty that Maura could not have attended all of her classes and worked two part-time jobs AND still have had enough time to work-out with the UMass Women's Track Team. We worked out from 6-7:30 am and 3-5 pm every weekday, except Sunday. We were exhausted all the time and barely found time enough to study.
I've never believed the hamstring-injury story.
I also haven't believed the scholarship story. Each team has a limited number of scholarships to offer each year and with rare exceptions they are awarded to incoming freshmen. Transfer students usually are barred from competing for a year, if they competed for another university and have to prove themselves worthy of a scholarship before one is awarded.
Why was Maura working two jobs, if she was awarded an academic scholarship?
This is another example of Mr. Murray being less than candid, I think.
Do we know for certain that Maura had a scholarship? I know the track coach helped get her into UMass, but that doesn't necessarily mean there was scholarship money involved.

hard to venture an opinion...unknowns include the overall reliability and previous maintenance of the vehicle...and whether the investment to repair is offset by expected road-worthiness, body condition,# of miles....but you know this stuff.
I recall also reading that the vehicle had poorly working heat. Why would an individual as intelligent and level headed as Maura head north in a 3 cylinder oil burning, non heated vehile?

Molly Bish's father and the child rapist are about the same age.

Both Molly Bish's father and the child rapist studied to become Roman Catholic priests at a Michigan seminary.

Both Molly Bish's father and the child rapist were in direct contact with a large number of prisoners.

Both had close contact with a member of the search and rescue team endorsed by Molly Bish's parents.

The child rapist's home phone received a number of collect phone calls from prisoner phones at the Worcester County House of Correction. During the same time period, a number of calls were made on the child rapist's phone to the home phone of a leading member of the search and rescue team endorsed by Molly Bish's parents. This occurred very near the time when Molly Bish's bathing suit was first discovered.

"American River Nutrition (ARN) is primarily focused in the discovery, development and extraction of nutraceuticals from natural sources. Examples of such sources include rice, soy, palm, carrot, annatto, marigold and tomato. To maximize this sourcing, ARN persists on searching new raw materials. ARN has over 20 years in original Tilapia and shrimp research and is one of the pioneers in raising the quality of products in this area. ARN is also involved in improving existing extraction technology by process-design upgrading (PDU) and unit-process shortening (UPS). Applications and uses are generally focused in the vitamin, mineral and supplement, food and beverage, animal health, drug and cosmetic market sectors. ARN has developed DeltaGold®, which is 50 times more potent than tocopherol, or regular Vitamin E which is an excellent anti-oxidant and cholesterol modulator."

Vitamins are America's favorite supplements; you may be among the 40% who took at least one within the past month. All told, we spend $1.7 billion a year on those pills and capsules--most commonly vitamin C, which originally attracted attention as a supposed cold remedy. But interest in these supplements has been fanned in recent years by hints that antioxidants such as vitamins C and E and selenium soak up free radicals, those by-products of metabolism that can damage cells and have been implicated in a wide variety of diseases, from cancer and cardiovascular disease to Alzheimer's, as well as in aging.

While the optimist in each of us wants these claims to be true, the findings from the task force, led by Tufts University biochemist Norman Krimsky, deliver a sobering dose of reality. There is insufficient scientific evidence, the team concludes, to support the notion that taking megadoses of dietary antioxidants can prevent chronic diseases. But the report goes even further. "Extremely large doses [of antioxidants]," it says, "may lead to health problems." Megadoses of vitamin E, for instance, can put you at greater risk of bleeding...

Vitamin E is another vitamin that is often mistreated. There are extreme side effects of consuming more than the body can absorb. The body’s system only needs one hundred to three hundred milligrams of vitamin E per day. There are vitamin supplements on the market that are sold to help grow nails and hair. These are often abused, you need only to take one tablet per day, and consume at least eight glasses of water per day. If an overdose of vitamin E occurs it could cause blood clots, fatigue, tumors in the breast, and reproductive problems.

John Regan, convicted of trying to abduct Lindsay Ferguson from the Saratoga Springs High School parking lot, was from the hometown of the company first issued patents for their discovery of the first anti-oxidants.

Linda and Arthur Kranick were Lindsay Ferguson's track coaches. The Kranick's were the main reason Regan was apprehended.

I have great respect for Ben, but I do not agree with him.

I think of our endeavor as a public grand jury. We don't have the power to subpoena or to lock people up for contempt for refusing to appear or answer questions, but we do have the power of public scrutiny and judgment.

We're kind of like C-SPAN with public participation.

We actually have enormous power, but no one ever has tried to do this before and pretty soon we may have a very large audience.

Constitutional rights do not technically apply because we are private citizens, not public officials.

I think lots of lawyers and judges are going to be looking at us and wondering WTF. We stand literally first-in-line crossing into uncharted waters.

We must be very careful deciding how to proceed because, like it or not, the trail we blaze will be followed by others no matter the outcome of our effort.

We can save a lot of people a lot of grief, if we do this right and I intend to do the best I can.

This is not the time to tremble and back down. Let's embrace the future and do it right.

Mason -

Why are some people from the Amherst MA area - people with clear connections to the pro-life movement and to the nutritional supplement business - as keenly interested in Maura Murray's disappearance as anyone in Maura's immediate family?

Sounds good, but you left out stuff like the Assize of Clarendon. And the Salem MA witch trials. I think you skipped over a few things. Just a friendly reminder.

Intersting how these types always turn it around and make themselves appear the victim.
Not to be confused with the source of the money that constitutes the Molly Bish Reward Fund. Of course not.

Would you kindly explain your remarks about Maura's hitting a guardrail? Where exactly is this guardrail? Thank you.

There has been a surprisingly high level of interest in Maura Murray's disappearance by Amherst area people who are in the pro-life movement and in the nutritional supplement business.

How come?
