BeagleBart,

Some wonderful news for you about your cousin.
Goes to show that even seemingly impossible things can happen, which really should be an inspiration for all of us here on the forum.

Your points about this discussion board and its future directions are very valid ones indeed.
To be honest, I´ve been thinking in a somewhat similar vein myself.
Like you, I have the feeling that - with the very best of intentions - we are somehow going in circles, none the less.

You, Whiston and so many others are doing a wonderful job, but even so, as you point out, many of the previous posters on this board seem not to be posting anymore.
Why?
I don´t really know their reasons, but diversity of opinions and input is a very worthwhile thing, however "over the top" some theories and ideas may seem to some others.

Yes, old theories, facts and speculations are being re-hashed rather a lot here, partly I think because of the lack of any really new information or facts appearing.

Also, with currently 1921 posts on this forum, it would, in fact, be necessary to make a print-out of all posts in order to be able to sift through the immense amount of information, theories, suggestions, etc, contained in these 1921 posts.
It´s very easy to lose the thread and general direction simply because of the sheer amount of posts.'
I don´t really have a good solution for this problem right now, but I shall certainly be thinking about it and hope that we all will come up with some viable ideas here.

Sorry, once again, for repeating myself like a parrot, but here goes:

The Maura look-alike, "Raykel", who apparently signed a vistors book in that Barton, VT, church back on Fathers Day in June 2005 -
surely it should be quite feasible to let a hand-writing specialist compare the hand-writing of "Raykel´s" signature with that of Maura´s.

Shack, Citigirl & others from the old MMM Forum - anybody knows whether such a check was ever performed???
Thanks!

I´ve also contacted a media acquaintance of mine in New England and asked her to consider doing a piece on Maura´s case.
We´ll see what may come of this.
Frankly, it worries me that there is such a lack of current media interest in Maura´s disappearance.
Her case, very sadly, contains so much mystery that it certainly should appeal to most media, even after 4 1/2 years.

Now - how could we possibly re-ignite the participation of the New England media to keep Maura´s case in the limelight???

Ideas, suggestions, please!
Thanks for reading.

Petrit sent you a message.

Re: very personal

Hi Linda
Well I dont know how instrumental I was in what I have said but I was glad to help you. I dont know what happened to my clothes. I dont know what the police did on their end. After I did gain my concience, I actually was just trying to get myself back on track. I had to learn how to walk, write, had therapy for talking, showering. My time was very much consumed with selfish things. I have no recollections of the night of the accident and a good month and a half after it happened. I did not know there was this missing person until I googled myself about 2 years later. I hope you get some closure yourself.

BeagleBart, I'm happy for your cousin.

I don't know if anything we do here will help find Maura. Obviously, I believe that it can help or I wouldn't be here. I am sure that if someone(s) doesn't keep Maura's case on the radar, it could easily just disappear. I don't want that to happen. I'm not going away.

Hello all,

This is an excerpt from the excellent series which the "Hanson, Whitman & East Bridgewater Express" newspaper in MA did on Maura some time ago, I believe in 2007.

__________

Witnesses claim to have seen Maura after the accident

There have been numerous claimed Maura Murray sightings, including two reports that have surfaced in the last month.

A Vermont man believes he saw Maura two years ago on Father's Day weekend. David Stone was attending services at the Solid Rock Assembly of God Church in Barton, Vt., 50 miles north of Woodsville, when a blonde female with tight curls walked into the church. Stone shook hands with the woman who introduced herself as "Raykel." She appeared to be in her early twenties, wore white shorts, running shoes, and had unmistakable runner's legs, according to Stone. "Her hair was lighter, but otherwise she looked just like her pictures ... I'm 99 percent positive it was her," said Stone. She wore heavy foundation on her face, which Stone found strange since she was such a pretty girl with flawless skin. Raykel was quiet, slightly nervous and possibly sad. She said she was just visiting and nobody else in the church seemed to know her. She filled out a visitor's card but Stone was never able to read the card because once the minister of the church began speaking about fathers - a tribute to Father's Day --Raykel "took off in quite a hurry." Nobody from the church has seen her since.

Stone had not previously given information to police, but when he saw a recent photo of Maura with her dad, which happened to show her tight curls, he knew he had to speak up, "I've got two daughters of my own; I would want to know."

Fair enough then why not post on sites dedicated to finding Maura. And I am talking about the computer savvy members of the immediate family here.

Sophie, thank you for reaffirming my memory for photographs by Silky.
Because of multiple thunder storms, I have been going over my "piles",
instead of computer today. So many notes that I had forgotten...
nothing that helps..ie CW's secret place...? Rooney living in Dalton, NH?..
I won't go on...I am just trying to digest the latest about Brooke in VT.
Sometimes I read the words of implying blame the victim..."where were/are parents"..
But this...? Big surprise that I am sickened beyond words.

I know this is a little off-topic, but I just learned that my cousin Randy Howes (Thomas Randolph Howes (Howes is my middle name)) has been rescued in Columbia, South America. He and two other Americans, were taken hostage over five years ago. There are tears on my cheeks. If they can be rescued, anything is possible. Maybe it can serve as a little inspiration. Again, I know it is off topic, but nothing has made me so happy in a long, long time. Later, maybe a lot later. Peace.
I'm very happy about this too. May the transition back into freedom be as gentle as possible. I thank God for this.

Excellent news. I had a dear friend-of-friends who was kidnapped and later killed in Colombia years ago. This is delightful and encouraging news. It's certainly on topic--the topic of NEVER GIVING UP HOPE!

Welcome home, Randy.

Kathleen said there was nothing really that could get Maura crying like thAT ABOUT THEIR PHONE CALL AND IF ANYTHING..........THAT SHE THOUGHT MAURA MIGHT HAVE BEEN TRYING TO GET OUT OF WORKING HER WHOLE SHIFT. Then we were all led to believe the call that upset Maura came from Kathleen but no, it came from inhouse about 1 am
Speculating: maybe Maura did want to get to her room and used her sis, that call as a reason to go get back to something in her room, elsewhere? J a thought
I have been off line for several weeks. But has this ever been brought up? "Maybe someone in house called and told her there was a problem with her sister." Maybe pretended they were of an official type? Like, told her to get there as fast as possible, and then stopped her in bfe? Just thinking through my fingers.

Pretty sure that Kathleen doesn't live anywhere that'd place NH between Amherst and her home. But--who knows WHAT that later phone call contained.

Let me get this straight. Everyone who thinks that Maura might have been a victim of foul play, or had an accident and wandered off and perhaps succumbed to the elements is being told to get the f**k out of here, is that about right?
Everyone who doesn't agree that Maura was guilty of a crime - don't let the door hit you in the "axx" on the way out?
"Those MMM people are SOOO controlling!"
OK, if that's what you tell yourselves. Good luck with that.
Wow, in your last couple posts you summed up how nice you really are.

Euro, throughout these many years..many folks have wanted to re-ignite...(your words)
ie letter writing campaigns....it seems that every time we think we have a good way
to "re-ignite" ..(like that word)...using Media...it fades away cuz of lack of permission or
sanction from family and/or Law Enforcement. Back in 2004..(I think) there was talk of
airing it on AMW, but it was turned down by HPD...(FIT correct me..?)
Another vague memory, is of someone offering Media attention and the offer was
ignored..?/rejected..? I do know that I am envious when I see TV programs like
"48 Hours" and "Dateline" air shows like last night about Tara Grinstead and Jennifer Kesse.
You wrote that we were going in circles...I used to refer to it as the "carousel".
Like Sophie, we just want to help find Maura. One of the million things that I don't
understand is why FBI isn't noticeably involved....MA girl...Hwy VT...car NH...?
My own thoughts, theories, feelings is that Maura was abducted somehow, somewhere
between 91 exit 17, at or after PnH Truck Stop/Restaurant and Woodsville/Swiftwater..
Anne will correct me, maybe...from PnH to Wells River..approx. 2-3 miles,
Wells River to 302 approx. 2-3 miles.
Left on 302 approx.2-3 miles, right on 112 2ish miles to site,.(had the exact mileage, then lost it). Rte.112 would be a dark and desolate area to capture and/or ditch a car, very scenic by day.
My feelings only.....so shoot me.....the Tent is gone.

Except that these were leather.
Actually leather keeps more scent than most materials. Ask any compitent trapper/tracker. So proper judgement was used. Just like someone stated earlier about using a jackknife in a bathtubb. They too were wrong, anything with pores will keep some residual blood, especially if it is porcelin(sp?).

I have been reading this for a while now. I would be interested in hearing why anyone would think it wasn't Maura in Maura's car at the crash site? Didn't the bus driver see someone he identified as Maura but her hair was different but, he did say it was her?
