Whiston, while I agree that Maura probably left Amherst of her own accord, I beg to differ about your assertion that the State of NH says “no crime”. Didn’t somebody in the AG’s office say there was a 75% chance of bringing criminal charges?

Now, Fred Murray did say that he thought they had to say something to justify their position to the court, but the reality is that it appears that the State of NH’s position before the NH Supreme Court is that something happened worthy of criminal charges against someone.

Shack, not sure about Able Baker or Charlie, but the dog appears to have taken off after…well you fill in the blank…rabbit, elephant, whatever.

Anne said,“The more people attack, the clearer it becomes to me that we are on the right track! JMHO!” Yes, Anne, I find the attacks curious.

Whiston, would you please explain this sentence:“ i have not done much to find out what i think i know as fact.”

What exactly do you THINK YOU KNOW AS FACT????

“Because I can..”

She could be alive and well and working as a waitress (or something else) somewhere. I say waitress, not because there are look a likes working as waitresses, but because that is an easy job to get, paricularly in that area and does not require an education or specific job skills.
Or as others have said, she may have been a suicide, not outside the realm of possibility, and a body could easily not be found in the area.
Or as others have speculated, she may be in a witness protection program, they don't tell their family where they are, do they?
Thank You.

Look at what you just wrote. How could you possibly wonder why people are being defensive.
I'm glad you are so proud of the fact that you and a few others are ruffling feathers.
As far as being on the right track.... as I see it every time someone says something that doesn't quite fit into the "MM insiders" scenerio one or more of this group purposely cause a train wreck. What is wrong with you people???
Wowzer, Let me be very clear about my post you are referring to. I was simply talking about the 'judge' buttons only! Excuse me but what is a MM insider?? You are the one with labels and aggression.

hi Jerry and all.i think the famous 75% comment from the A.G. was smoke. is that the number of crimes that are expected to be solved in N.H. in a year .i dont' feel i have done very much to find the facts as Euro suggested . .to me it is all about Mauras prior life.Muaras family still will not say ,where she worked, where she took her clinicals or what her class schedule was because 'it is an unknown'.why is Mauras passed life such a secret.i know i may have mentioned those things a few dozen times but i mention it again so new people here can maybe give us a good reason.Take care philip

Wowzer, I believe the issue at hand is simply that there are other forums dedicated to that topic should people desire. This one has a specific focus, as do many topix discussion boards, and she was simply reminding people of this fact.

How is "what is wrong with you people???" anything other than rude? I'm curious. And I'm not entirely sure how you came to the conclusion that "we" cause a metaphorical train wreck. I'm not even sure who your definition of "we" would include. Look carefully and see who causes the derailments. It might surprise you.

RE: Liz Drewniak

I emailed Liz about whether or not she was on the Montel show. Here is her reply (cut and pasted, not my own words) "A clip of me was shown on the Montel Episode, however, I did not attend the taping. The show sent a camera man to Hanson, MA to ask questions/tape a few of the girls so as to save us the trip to where ever they tape the show. I know they interviewed a couple of the girls (although I can't remember who), but I know that a very short clip of me made it onto the show."

Hope that clarifies things for those of you who were questioning it.

Philip, bless your heart for trying...but, as you well know..my thoughts/feelings. For just
one thing, regarding suicide...can't imagine driving a crappy car for 2 - 3 hours to kill
oneself.....with what...? Birth control pills...? Piffle. I can imagine getting into a motel and
drinking myself to sleep..with Joseph....."drown ones sorrows"...? Intelligent Maura might be ,..
but, I betcha she wasn't into the intrigue of "setting up the scene" to make it look like....anything....
And, as I have stated before...bluntly..sorry...can' t hide your own body.
I would like to think like some here that she is "waitressing" somewhere...but, 4 1/2 years later...??
Optimistic I am...but also a realist.
Anne, I judged a "heart" for you!!!...No matter what anyone says about you ..y'all ok.
ps I went back again to read what remnants we have of MMM ...question .Is
Trooper Russell Hubbard Troop F NHSP (6xx) 8xx-3xxx still POC for tips...?
(Yeh, Philip, agreed...Strelzin "blowin' smoke"...)

I dunno how long posts take - but it appears mine did not. So I try again.

I dunno why loosing a scent in front of a home was not probable cause to search it. With dogs. Either it clears Mr. Atwood so the focus can shift away from the area with some logic behind it.

The probability she was abducted after the accident is low. Assuming Mr. Atwood was not involved - and that he has looked at a picture of Maura and identified her as the person in the car he talked to - then its obvious that she was waiting to be picked up by a companion she already knew but did not disclose.

The family first was checking bus stops convinced that it was possible that Maura was leaving on her own accord.

However, I doubt that after all of these years, that she would not simply make an announcement that she decided to go off - so all of this effort wouldn't be wasted. But look at Elizabeth Ester Reed - who knows what her motivations were - but it is unclear why she took off, changed identities, etc.

But then again - maybe she has been expecting it would die down long ago - and is now past the point of embarrassment.

She was likely followed by the Red Truck. She didn't want help - she felt she had whatever she required.

I also can see that her having another boyfriend unbeknown to others, could explain some of her actions. I have already outlined it elsewhere and won't repeat myself here.

Even if she made her escape good on foot - she could have been abducted later. Taken anywhere.
Or she could have started a new life with her new mate. Gone anywhere.

Her cell phone was not used maybe - or maybe she was in a roaming area and used one she had - maybe she went on a 10 - 15 mile hike in the woods fell down a steep incline - was injured seriously and died - only limited phone reception squeaked a message trough that included no words.

I doubt that a foul player would leave evidence in a place that a search was expected.

I can't rule out the dad - he was with her just before she left - it even seems more likely that he could convince her to go up there then some secret boyfriend. I'm sorry but I'm being honest. What does anyone know about his time line? Maybe she knew dad wasn't far away.

There are just too many possibilities.

This is my first posting on this forum. I have been an aquaintance with Fred and the rest of the family from the beginning when Maura vanished. I was just wondering if anyone knows about the story and details about a woman who was walking her dog and didn't return home. Her body was later found on County Road, not far from where Maura vanished. I beleive it was ruled a homocide and the killer was never found. Please let me know if you have any info on this.

Thank you!

Searcher Me...Seems that I do recall your name ...glad to hear your voice...
I was just about to Post when I read yours. Are you speaking about Pauline Clark? Didn't really sound like the same scenario, but...gads, who knows, cuz another "incident was blown over" ...

Found this....Posted by family member...2007 RE: Maura "The doors were locked and a few personal belongings, including Murray's cellular phone
and credit and bank cards, were missing, but most of her possessions had been left inside.

I think it is also important to note that among Maura’s possessions left behind was valuable
jewelry, her toothbrush, hair brush, tooth whitener and birth control pills.

Murray has never been seen again. Police believe she got a ride from the scene of the accident to parts unknown.

I don’t pretend to speak for the police or for that matter know what they believe at this
point in time, however, I think that one should keep in mind that Senior Assistant
Attorney General Jeffrey Strelzin (Attorney Strelzin serves as Chief of the Homicide Unit)
is quoted as saying that there is a “75 percent” chance” that he will file criminal charges in
Maura’s case (Valley News April 2007). " End
I will enter the rest tomorrow...

There has been a lot of wondering why Maura was on Rt. 112 in particular, and a thought occurred to me which I have checked out only slightly but think it may be relevant.

We know that Jigger Johnson Campground was at one time Maura's favorite place to camp. Apparently Jigger Johnson is on Rt. 112. Assuming Maura knew that, then to see a sign for Rt. 112 could have caused her to think she'd be in familiar territory (sooner or later) by taking Rt. 112.

Just as another and personal thought, but if Maura is alive, she might be working in a park or something of that type. US Gov't park ranger positions I believe come with educational requirements and applicants are likely well scrutinized, but that may not be the case with helper positions or with privately owned campgrounds. And even so, it is not terribly difficult to take on a new name and identity ... probably a bit more difficult since 9/11 but it can be done nonetheless.

You're exactly right. There is no evidence of a crime and it is certainly possible that she is alive and well.
There are some that won't hear of this being possible though because then there would no longer be an online mystery thread to take up their time.
Wowzer, I have thought about your several posts including this one. Until Maura is found, noone knows exactly what happened that February 2004. I am surprised at the widespread attack on the MMM former forum members. As you suggested, I read my own words and I can see that although my intention was to lighten the atmosphere in here, it could be taken otherwise. Many theories have been explored by lots of caring people, which is important but ruffling feathers is unnecessary and aggressive. Throwing 'barbs' is the same as the uncalled for 'judging'. Timefor me to take a break.

The reason why I brought up Weeper yesterday, not Frank Kelly, is because his posts on Maura's forum were ones that I took into careful consideration.

He removed himself from the case shortly after the volunteer search in 2006 and wrote a letter to the courts requesting that the information on Maura's case remained sealed.

Maura's has been a major homicide investigation for quite some time, this was confirmed to me the day I read Weeper's letter to the courts.

Weeper's on Maura's side and he obviously has a good reason to go against Fred's desire to obtain more information in an effort to find her.

Weeper was also one of the number of experts who stated the person(s) responsible for Maura's disappearance has done it before and will do it again.

Whiston,

It may be worth your while to go back and re-read Weeper's posts on Maura's first forum. His are easy to find, they are in all caps.

Whiston/Philip,
Thanks for your recent postings in response to my earlier query. I agree with you that Maura´s life at UMass Amherst is too much of an "unknown".

Advocator,
I read your most recent post with interest.
Why Maura should have chosen to travel the 112 between Woodsville and Lincoln is indeed a mystery in itself.
It may well be that seeing the "112" sign at the US 302 intersection near Woodsville brought up a sense of recognition for her, just as you suggest.
Another alternative being that she was going for a cabin or motel in the Lincoln/North Woodstock area to stay overnight.
A few of these establishments actually advice their clients specifically to drive the 112 between Woodsville and Lincoln if arriving from southern Vermont and western MA, as stated on their web sites.
Also;
There is that UMass Amherst Outing Club cabin in the wilds off Rte 142 (IIRC) between Bethlehem and Franconia, which is yet another big "unknown" in the context of Maura.
From the direction of Amherst,MA, that cabin could be reached by driving the 112 from Woodsville towards Lincoln, then turning north on the 116 through Easton and to Franconia and from there north on the 142 towards Bethlehem.
