Elsewhere, you're right...I thought immediately of Weeper...With brain cramps, I can't recall if he did or did not post his contact info. Also, I could have sworn that photos of car were taken by Fred and Weeper....in SP yard.?..and then a reconstructionist viewed photos...? I dunno..maybe there was an actually viewing...(one would think by LE)at Lavoies..? It was also rumored that photos of and at the scene were taken that night....but, is that a fact...? I do think sometimes, that if the energy of heart n soul of the people and their minds and intent here could be harnessed and directed to those investigating within LE, this would be solved.

Shack, Thanks for the input re: accident reconstructionist. I just know that an expert determined the damage to the nose of the vehicle and the windshield. I'd be more apt to follow your info re: Mr. Murray & Weeper taking photos of Maura's Saturn that the accident reconstructionist examined and determined his findings. I just spent a good while trying to find a post from Weeper re: contact info to no avail. I did find a random post from someone stating that the airbag can cause a crack in the windshield and he/she was stating this from first hand experience.

Now THAT is a fine case of investigative police work. I can only hope that an equal or greater amount of attention is being spent by LE on Maura. But I sincerely doubt it.

As many of us learned from Thomas Kuhn's Structure of Scientific Revolutions whenever one of us has an idea, you can be sure others all over will probably be thinking of it at the same time. Fred Knew Maura Was Leaving Campus? From Advocate's chart Maura got busy looking for a getaway location after talking to her dad late Sunday night. Did Maura finally tell Fred about something bad/upsetting that happened (maybe a car accident involving Petrit Vasi?) that made Fred advise her to leave for a while? Vasi I don't believe it's been definitely established that Maura did NOT make a quick coffee run that night 2/5-2/6/04. From my test runs in Amherst last fall, the roads were uncrowded, the "blocks" long, and the traffic lights few. A loop to several local coffee shops, like DDs, could've been done quickly --- posters' time estimates on these forums vary. Was Maura having trouble telling Billy about a possible Petrit Vasi accident and her leaving town for a while? Security Clearances Although some people view military security clearances very casually, it's possible that if Billy had a highish-level (Secret+) clearance, and since he seems to be a serious guy, Maura might not have wanted to tell him anything he would have to lie about. Like a hit-and run.(Years ago -- early 70s -- security agents asked questions like, "Do you know anyone who smokes marijuana"!!!!!!!) Military Base Life Someone here (Bill?) said that being a military wife was miserable. I agreed with some of what he said, but there were also wonderful benefits. If you're stressed out, it's pretty cool that the military (often) takes care of your housing, your utilities, repairs and maintenance, recreation, classes, subsidized shopping and income tax breaks. A "student"-type person could take courses either nearby base or distance courses. If Maura didn't want to be an Army wife, I wonder if it had to do with her West Point experience that would make her feel funny she didn't finish. Covering Up Saturn Damage? Still wonder if the Saturn sustained A LITTLE damage from an accident in Amherst, and a suggestion from someone, maybe Fred, to Maura that it wouldn't hurt to add additional, overlapping damage ---- safely and when out of town? If Fred knew just the tiniest bit more about why Maura might've taken a trip, I'll bet LE picked up on that one small part and paid less attention to his honest pain and grief. No Maura Look-Alike I'm having trouble believing there was a Maura look-alike involved in her disappearance from early one. Maybe up in NH a criminal's girlfriend resembled Maura superficially.... Monday, 2/9/04 Afternoon Sharon (I think) on the MMM forum stated that Maura spent Monday afternoon writing her share of a "group paper" that was due. Sounds like one more responsible thing Maura did in terms of tying up loose ends, like returning clothing, emailing profs and bosses, leaving voice mails, leaving her dorm room neat, etc. Her doing all these things so deliberately and efficiently just doesn't jibe with a desperate departure, though. Thoughts? If it WAS a well-thought-out disappearance, planned over weeks or months, then I can understand her crying (at work) thinking about not seeing her sister again, and crying when talking to Billy early Sunday AM. Secret Mission or Infiltrator? Unlikely If I tended (I don't) to create convoluted theories, I'd wonder if she was called on to "disappear" and carry out some secret mission or to infiltrate some group...

Half Moon.....Maura was driving a 1995 (1996?) Saturn. So I'm pretty sure it was before the sensors. If you can confirm that, it'd be great. Also, I know that my Honda has a sensor that will turn an airbag OFF (if someone under 50 pounds is sitting in the passenger seat, or if someone clinically obese is obstructing the side airbag, both of which have happened, though the "someone" under 50 pounds was my briefcase) but the default on both passenger side airbags is ON. You're not wearing out your welcome. No worries there. You're being polite, you're thinking of helpful questions, you're not yelling at anybody....it's all good.

Both bags would have gone off regardless who was seated on the passenger side. Still haven't heard if anyone knows if Maura was in the habit, especially on long trips, of picking up hitchhikers. Has she ever done that? Did she do it around campus? Does anyone know the answer to this question or can get an answer? Bill

Whiston, your comment: There is nothing to put her in Amherst after mrMuray dropped her off feb 08 04. Another student on campus saw Maura Murray in the parking lot on the 9th. UMass detectives viewed a security video that was from the 9th and identified Maura as on the video. You make insinuations and are inflammatory against the Murray family. You ask questions that are repeatedly answered as Citigirl just pointed out. You ask questions and expect an answer to every question even the ones such as what junk mail did she get? When there isn't an answer, you are offended and say the family is secretive.

Thanks Bacon...I remembered a name..!! Too late.!... Speaking of SP, I keep thinking of Monaghan that night.(since transfered within SP) I do not profess to have any knowledge of the inner workings, but I do recall that there was some rift between/among NHSP. I'll call it the "umbrella" and under are the different divisions/departments. What I am getting at is ..If Monaghan was "on duty" or "on special assignment" that night, then a report would be generated and filed with SP. If he was "off duty", then he would have been a "citizen"?..so wouldn't witness statement be in order...and filed with other witness statements at HPD...? I would hope so. He has, and did in the past "just shown up" at incidents...(told to me by a past local Chief, with his approval) He (chief) was aging, and was grateful for his assistance. Even if SP got a heads up on the Lyme Kiln situation..why was he on 112? Not near either end of LK Rd. If the DL.and accident report didn't appear so disjointed, perhaps I wouldn't have had a 2nd thought about the timing of Monaghan's transfer to another division/department within SP.(I personally KNOW that transfers do exist in Federal Gov.Agencies to alleviate.....whatever the situation....) So it isn't a stretch to imagine for State Agencies could/would do the same. I am NOT degrading, bashing, making any accusations, in fact, just the opposite, my old Chief friend spoke well of him. Euro..you are welcome...(glad I knew something) Firecat..yeh...Maura's Saturn is 96..mine is 95... Half Moon, We have people here from TX, CT, MN, NC,MA, NH, ME, VT. "across the Pond" ...probably more than I can think of right now...but, we do need..more NH folks like you...helpful and polite.. In other words, ditto ..what Elsewhere said.

One reason I'm still here -as Shack suggested - is because of Silky's work to solve the cases of missing and murdered in northern NE and Quebec. The last time I posted, I was reprimanded for my opinion that the lack of a proper search was negligence. My opinion has not changed. Another, or maybe the same, reason that I'm still here - too many missig pieces, and the more people looking at and for those pieces, the better. One little piece, perhaps not important, perhaps very important - as I've said before. RO reported a MA plate on the truck. I don't know that she saw that it said "Massachusetts" but she did say red letters on white. IF she didn't actually see "Massachusetts" ony red letters on a white background, it is entirely possible that it was a VT temp plate, right? Please correct me if you think that I am wrong. This little piece - was it a MA plate or a VT plate? was this truck involved in Maura's disappearance?- leads to a whole series of questions and directions. This is one piece, just one of many, which hasn't been pursued. Until Maura is found, I intend to stay here and investigate every single piece to the best of my ability. Another little piece, but maybe a big piece, is that it sure looks to me like the Saturn is still outside the fence in Twin Mountain. I haven't gotten close enough to absolutely confirm - can't figure a safe or legal way to do that - but it looks like the Saturn. If it's still there and outside the fence, why would that be?

hi all.i spoke with 1800gostowe and they say they do not do bulk mailings to specific schools.they only send promos to people on there existing mailing list.the good news is the person i spoke with knew about Mauras case.Lady gray is there a video of Maura on campus.this is great news to me.i will still question the information that came from the now closed MMM site and where it came from .we either have the wrong facts about Mauras prior life or just not enough facts yet.if Maura had a job it was reported on mrMurays tax return and i assume she was paid by check.Maura worked in 'a local gallery' according to Joe Mcgee with Kate Markopoulos.Maura shared 'the same class schedule' with Lindsay Pemberton .Asking these questions seems normal to me.why was the saturn not destroyed yet.take care philip

hi Sophie and all, i was in VT 2 weeks ago and noticed the red letters and numbers on a white background and how much theylook like MA plates.as for the saturn being at twin mountain that is a head shaker.where do cars that may have evidence get stored. i can only assume and hope that it was examined from front to back and that it cannot be stored in a zip lock bag and that anything of value is stored elsewhere.still dont know when the car was taken from Lavoies that would speak volumes . it was reported on the MMM forum that mrMurray signed the saturn over to Lavoies to cover storage fees.i am still wondering how long the saturn was actually across from the Westmans home.the accident report and log do not make sense timewise.did anyone ever find out the name of the snowmobile people on petticoat lane and what happened.take care philip

sophie bean wrote: The last time I posted, I was reprimanded for my opinion that the lack of a proper search was negligence. My opinion has not changed. That’s it! That’s your response. Days later and this is what you come up with. Your response to my post is “My opinion has not changed”. You obviously have put a lot of thought into this. You have obviously given careful consideration to what I wrote and line by line stated why it was incorrect or at least why your opinion has any validity and you have lots of information to support your opinion. Clearly this is exceptional work. So you do expect the Coast guard launching helicopters, search teams being called out, etc. How is it to be paid for? Will these people be at your beck and call full time 24/7/365 or just during the waking hours? Where will they stay? At the fire houses, police stations? Which stations, all of them? If we are going to man all the stations in the state 24/7/365 with a crew of what 20, 50 100 searchers and keep them trained and equipped I am sure the taxpayers will want to have a say. I mean a delay of even one minute, neigh, one second could cost a life right? The second that CS got to the car and didn’t find anyone, especially a young women he should have immediately sent out the alarm correct? Helicopters, search crews, off duty police officers, fish and game should have come flooding into the area is that what you are implying? Maybe road blocks and house to house searches also? I mean let’s not do this in half measures. No description of how your opinion makes any sense? Just you think it so it must be? What would be needed is less opinion and more logical thought. That would be useful. Maybe your opinion would carry more weight if it was written more like this. Bill, I believe you are full of crap and my opinion has not changed because…. This is where you fill in with your intelligent, well thought out response, after the “because” part. Hey, you can even skip the full of crap part if you want. That way maybe others, including myself, could see how your clear logic allows you to get to your opinion. We would then be allowed the same insight as you so your accusations of negligence have some basis in reality and don’t just make sense in SB land. How your experience in such matters lets you spout off and must be listened to because of your years dealing with such problems as public safety, search and rescue and taxes to fund such an endeavor and have such a strong opinion. You also need to learn the difference between educating and reprimanding. Of course if all you want to do is spout BS just to incite responses then you are excelling at that. Look at all the words I needed to write in response to these two sentences. Or are you using opinion in the sense that “I feel it is so therefore it is so”? It doesn’t need to make sense because I believe it. Beliefs are different. If that is the case then you might want to keep those opinions/accusations/beliefs to yourself. You can believe anything you want. It is when you say them out loud that they can easily sound a little foolish which I know you are not. I have seen you string a couple of thoughts together more than once that I have agreed with. B
