I think if monkeys were the only thing you called the NH people there would have been no anger but you know that's not true and that you've called them much much worse. Nuf said.

WHITE WASH wrote: What is the website again? Thanks <quoted text> Hello White Wash, Sorry, but right now I cannot even recall the name of the religious community in question. It´s located somewhere near Irasburg, VT, I seem to remember. This was mentioned on this site by another poster some time earlier this year, but without a search function and with close to 6000 posts.....

I am in no way attacking anyone, just stating my opinion. I would think that the biggest question would be what was so horrible that she had to get into an unreliable car and leave her closenit and beloved family without telling any of them that she was leaving and head north to the mountains in the wintertime. She knew they would be worried sick when they found her gone so what would be more important than putting her family through hell???? Do YOU know for a FACT that Maura ran away? I certainly don't and I don't think anyone else does either. We don't know why Maura left that night. The fact that she got into an unreliable car and didn't let anyone know where she was going, does NOT, IMHO, constitute either running away or leaving for some "horrible" reason.

Lying about a death in the family to not have to attend your classes or perform your other duties. Calling it a death in the family also makes it less likely that anyone would check on the excuse since no one would want to appear insensitive. Then leaving without telling anyone where you are going except for the lie which is actually is misdirection. Hmmmm. I think that is the definition of running away. Bill

We can agree to disagree but in my opinion when someone leaves unexpectedly under the circumstances that Maura did whether it be for a few days, a month, a year etc. they are running away. From what or who I haven't a clue but I think it's certainly worth looking into further. Something caused her to leave her family, friends and school that day.

I know she doesn’t think that we “get” her apparent brilliance. The references to the 3 monkeys. The reference to the ostrich and of course the pffts. Lets see if I have it correctly nailed down. The 3 monkeys refers to how the locals hear, see and speak no evil. They aren’t either brave enough or smart enough to see what that is doing to the area. The ostriches a reference to heads in the sand which they really don’t do anyway but again. Locals not smart enough or brave enough to speak about things they “know”. The pfft meaning that I don’t even care about what you say. It’s not important enough to consider. It comes remarkably close to the Monty Python sketch where the Frenchman says to the knight “I fart in your general direction”. In content and use. Do I get it? Bill

People get paid to live like this on MTV. Too bad my life is far too boring to interest anyone else. Big Brother - I think I'm going to sign up. I think I'd be the peace-making roommate (until someone slaughters the English language). I could win money! I'm not good at manipulating people though, and I won't eat bugs, so Survivor just won't do..........Plus, how do you live in the same underwear for a month? I always wondered that one......

hi wowzwer and all .as far as we know Maura left without telling anyone close to her.she seemed to have intended to be gone that whole week snd then some.she may have brought her ceell and charger phone so if someone called her she could talk to them and appear to be in Amherst doing her normal thing.one thing if she did intend to fill out accident report forms i think she would have needed the original from officer Ruddock in hadley, even more important if she had to mail something back to mrMurray he would have seen a post mark from anywhere but Amherst.did she wait so late in the day just to get the accident report.when i spoke with 3 paeople at hadley pd they were not sure how long it takes to get an accident report.is ther something sitting at hadley pd that says or shows she was there on feb 09 04.amherst has lots to tell.take care philip

Some things that people may not be thinking. I know that there was talk that Maura was going to call Billy (later that night?) and that she might have also planned on calling her dad later or the next day. Remember that calling from and to the cell phone no one would know where you are. If she wanted to keep her location and what she was doing from the family and Billy, calling them from the cell phone would have meant nothing if she didn’t want to tell them what she did and where she was. She could have contacted them and no one would have actually known where she was. Even if they called her they would not have known where she was. Everything would have appeared normal to anyone else. Don’t know if that was what she intended but it would have been a simple matter to contact them and not say a word about where she was and what she had done. And of course I am speaking in the sense of you, me, mom, dad, Billy, etc. Not the police who with a warrant for cause can obtain records about where the cell phone pinged what towers. Bill

AG's Office probes 'suspected death' By LORNA COLQUHOUN New Hampshire Union Leader Correspondent 1 minute ago 12:20 - 10/9/08 HAVERHILL – Members of the state police Major Crime Unit are at a residence on Lime Kiln Road, investigating what Assistant New Hampshire Attorney General Ann Rice is calling a "suspected death." She gave no explanation of what she meant by that but said more information would be provided later today. The driveway to the double-wide mobile home is blocked with yellow crime scene tape and two troopers are posted at end of the driveway. http://www.unionleader.com/article.aspx...

Elsewherebriefly "I'm guessing that you didn't have an opportunity to watch the recent 20/20 segment on Maura & Brooke Wilburger." I did an it is apparent that the law enforcement response differed - and I agree one could conclude that it made all the difference. "The NHSP Investigator who was being interviewed stated that some people come to the mountains to get away from their problems and to end their lives." Either his name is really Lloyd Christmas or he's got alterior reasons. He can't and won't explain why she has yet to be found. "I'm sorry I've been so crabby lately. The reason why I keep jumping in and posting is mainly because I've felt compelled to defend Maura's family." I'm going to keep saying this 'till I'm blue in the face - I think you are a good person. I don't think anyone else here has been as supportive in spirit to the family then you - and that's a good thing. My mistake was assumimg that it was for other reasons. "Things have been on the upswing, at least in my opinion. Maybe now I can actually take as step back and take a neccesary breather. Lots of new and important information is being presented on the forum via White Wash and I'm glad to see her communicating with Maura's family, this has been great." Very important in my mind. "If every I've trompled on anyone's theories that go against my own, I sincerely apologize." You have my unconditional apology. "It just really sucks that four and a half years later statements that Maura may have run away or committed suicide is still being brought up in the media." To that you get a "hpuse of Commons" Heeeere.

Bill Only thing WTF - Google the Fitzhugh case - that was solved - in part - because he used his cell phone - and the records showed that the cell phone accessed a cell phone tower in a location that did not corroborate his aliby. I don't know why this type of inquiry, or results thereof have not been discussed. Another angle is - if it were Maura on her cell phone - and there was no cell phone service in the area - perhaps she was not in the area.
