So there's nothing to trace. I know Maura's phone service was up and running until fairly recently, in case there was any activity. Don't know the details off top of my head, but the phone company was keeping her number open for just such a possibility. I think it would be beneficial to hear from the police - that they checked the Cell phone tower records - and found none. I don't recall seeing any reference to that type of inquiry - just a trace inquiry, but not the manner in which it was approached. There was a dispute about if a call was made from the Red Cross or elsewhere. No one has said it was from her cell phone - but I am not completely convinced that it couldn't have ben - or from another cell phone. The tower will have record of the time a call was made to AT&T methinks. I wouldn't go so far as saying that it is likely that Maura placed calls to the family and haven't disclosed that fact.

Ben,
Not to long about Sophie Bean stated that the call made from the Red Cross has been debunked and Weeper confirmed this.

WTF, This would be that a North Haverhill youth, a Haverhill youth and a Groton VT youth involved in a murder. Now, would this fall under picking on locals, of which I am? I see what is going on around me, and I feel the danger/anger! I do not dismiss it.

Really? Interesting. Other than that, yes, that's my memory of it too (not home, can't look)

This has been confirmed AND reconfirmed by Weeper and family for quite some time. The call came from a prepaid calling card. That call cannot be traced without the pin number, which is on the card. Which (of course) we don't have. That call DID NOT come from the Red Cross. Even the Red Cross has said so, I believe.

Anyone have more specific info on the ping/cell tower conversation? I didn't pay a lot of attention to it while it was going on, because so much of it was gobbledygook to me. Most of what I read looked like "blah blah blah you were a liberal arts major this is technical stuff" :-)

Hello all, One of the major problems when trying to assess Maura´s heartbreaking case is, in my mind, the many possible scenarios. 1. Maura is the victim of a crime in Amherst and never actually left Amherst in the first place. 2. Maura is the victim of a crime somewhere between Amherst and Haverhill, while enroute between these two places. 3. Maura is a victim of a crime committed against her somewhere in the Haverhill area. 4. Maura left Amherst for NH, more or less voluntarily: a. Because of some kind of amnesia/fugue state or similar. b. Because she just needed to be away from Amherst for some time to think things through. c. Because a close friend of hers was responsible for hitting Petrit Vasi in Amherst while behind the wheel of Maura´s Saturn. d. Because Maura herself was responsible for the Petrit Vasi hit-and-run case(highly unlikely, but even so...) e. Because Maura was being harassed/threatened by some (to us) unknown person(s). f. Because of some other reason, unknown to us. 5. Maura - on her own or together with one or more (to us) unknown person(s) managed to get away from the Swiftwater incident scene. Something bad happened at some point later. 6. As above, but Maura is still with us, but in hiding, whether more or less voluntarily (due to her own decisions and for some reason) or not (being kept captive). 7. Maura is part of some kind of witness protection scheme or similar.

I wonder where the term ostrich came from. Go ahead and hide, it will not go away like that.

5/12/04 an application for a Search Warrant was requested by NHSP for an out going call that hit the Londonderry tower which meant Maura's phone had to be within 22 miles of that tower. Helena has stated that according to Maura's cell phone records no such call showed on the bill. So if a search warrant was obtain when they had access to her phone bill from the family seems odd to just me? whiston wrote: hi Firecat and all just to clarify .the ping was heard by the police when they were searching for Dru Sjordin not Maura .sorry about my poor writing take care philip

Hi Sooz, You gave me to gumption to go ahead and do the necessary revisions and edits. Please do stop by and say hello. Within the next few days I'll be sorting through this forum and revising Maura's blog to coincide with Weeper's posts, advocators chart, the wiki timeline as well as other pertinent information. http://missingandremembered.blogspot.com

Was anyone else aware of this information? Has this been discussed before? How long has this information been available to the public?

It sounds like you are saying that an outgoing call, believed to be from Maura's phone was found in the Londonderry tower. Did I misunderstand you? If this is what you said - does anyone know if Maura's cell phone bill would be charged for an attempted call that no one answered? I think if those calls do not show up on the bill - then this would be the reason that call was not on the bill. Whatever phone number that was - that's a lead - a big lead - and I would persue that. It would be somewhat dissapointing if that were the "Red Cross" call.

I just looked - Londonderry is south and West of White River Junction about 100 miles south of the accident site.
This could have been when she checked her messages at 4:30 - but not a critical clue that I thought it was a few posts back.
She was definitely outside of Massachusetts (my guess near Charlestown) on I-91 when she checked her phone. Maybe as far north as Claremont.
AT THAT POINT SHE WAS ONLY A LITTLE OVER AN HOUR AWAY FROM THE SITE.
4:30 + 1 HOUR = 5:30 Which gives about two hours for the drive.
Second if her cell phone required a password - she made it out of Massachusetts. The drug addicts shopping for Maura couldn't be true.
Not looking good for Amhurst.
Question is - what happened in those two hours?(if that was when she checked her cell for messages.
Otherwise - only White Wash knows this information.
TWO HOURS EXTRA TIME. THIS IS A BIG DIFFERENCE IN MY MIND - IF TRUE.
