Actually I read that as I-91 anyway, so there was no damage done on my end.

If Maura went anywhere, and that includes 91, 93 or even Boston or even if she stayed in Amherst. If she went anywhere within the distance that drive time would allow her after 4:37 and before 6pm, and her cell phone was near any cell tower.... than the Londonderry call would have gone through and it would have shown on her bill.
The phone likely was out of cell range, and the ping call registered but waiting in que.

I would assume it would be a matter of cross referencing all of her friends cell numbers to see if they made a call at this exact time and pinging the Londonderry tower.

Maybe she was doing her clinicals in something like a community center? Maybe in Amherst or Northampton? Maybe Amherst isn't talked about because that's where the little vigilante group draws some of its members from?

And maybe this group of vigilantes has been manipulated by a very cleaver (at least by half) PI who - just coincidentally - happens to be on the very fat payroll of someone closely connected to the Rowland scandal in Connecticut a few years ago.

So let's say Vasi was hit, but it had to be covered up for financial reasons by Mr. Z, someone not immediately apparent to most people - and not related to Maura. Let's say Mr. Z enlisted the help of someone from Connecticut to cover up the hit. Unfortunately, Mr. Z knew that Maura learned about the Vasi hit right after it happened and felt she had to be removed.

But how to explain an apparent abduction? Maura's close friends and family are tight and fiercely loyal and would demand to know what happened to her. How could you keep them from finding out the truth? Simple. Just blame someone else. Be the family's close and understanding friend. Help them out where you can. Keep the spotlight off Vasi and anything to do with his having been hit.

So maybe someone close to Maura hit Vasi and it was covered up by someone completely outside her family, but Maura had to be taken out of the picture. While it might be too risky to actually frame someone outright, it might be worth allowing a certain level of contrived culpability to sort of congeal around him. This would keep the attention off the actual source of the disappearance.

The coverup might also benefit a certain powerful person in Connecticut - a person very close to the Rowland scandal - along with someone described as this powerful person's best friend. Maybe this best friend has known the target of the vigilante group for over fifty years and apparently would love to see him out of the way before any "recovered memories" surface.

The group of vigilantes could be trusted to keep quiet about Amherst because they sure would not want any attention to fall on them. Which shouldn't happen because they are just innocent victims of a manipulative PI and some bad guys from Connecticut.

Just speculating whether she might have done her clinicals at, for example, a battered women's shelter or a pregnancy counseling center. Or both.

Except for the part about "showing on her bill." When I don't pick up calls, they don't show up on my bill. That's been the case with any cell service I've ever had. They might show up on a log that's tracking calls, but they don't show up on my bill, because they're not air time. When I pick up voice mail, or when I answer the phone, THEN they show up on my bill.
