Although, it may well have been in 2 accidents that evening. And I believe it was in fact Maura in the car at that time. However, if there was ANY kind of criminal element involved in the Saturn ending up at that spot, my theory is that it was due to car-jacking. In the year previous (2003), that style of Saturn was one of the most-stolen cars across the country (I used to have a link to that information, but no longer have it). And if the Saturn had been car-jacked, then the young woman seen by the SBD likely was not Maura but by happenstance had some general resemblance to her (age, etc.)... and there may have also been a young man present initially. Yes, a car-jacking with a girl at the wheel, a guy hiding on the backseat floor?, the empty beer can, a man smoking a cigarette (maybe)... this is a possibility too. And it raises all the usual questions: did they wind up in the snowbank in a little cluster of homes inadvertently, where did the carjacking occur? and, of course, where is Maura? Did she make it through the carjacking and continue with some plan? Could explain why she didn't have time to take any of her things that were important to her. Only reason I can think of that Maura didn't call home really soon was the anger her brother Kurt noted in his poem/song about her. It's an enlightening poem. Still going round and round. Still resisting Weeper's statements of the facts or the PIs' consensus. In my case I think it's because I hate the ending of their consensus. Sorry for the long posts.

FireCat wrote: <quoted text> I think you're reading incorrectly, combined with imprecise grammar. The RECEIPT was found in the car. The LIQUOR is missing from the car. Of course, it is a presumption that the liquor made the trip and is in her backpack. Thanks for pointing out that the receipt was in the car. I was writing that even if the receipt wasn't in the car it should have been pretty easy to find out what she purchased. If the liquor wasn’t in the dorm, no one else admitted to having it, and it wasn’t found in the car. So either she took it with her and drank it all during the trip while tossing the empties out the window while driving her busted ass car down the road, a scenario I think unlikely. Or before the trip she drank it all and disposed of the bottles which I also think unlikely. Or she took the bottles with her when she fled the scene whether intentionally or just as an incidental because they were in her backpack to start and she just instinctively grabbed the backpack when she left. I mean she did leave in a hurry, correct? She could have grabbed the backpack without the specific intention of taking the booze, maybe. They did find the box of wine still in the car correct? Bill

Maura's underwear were missing along with the bottles of liqour according to the LE inventory of items in the vehicle.
Women's underwear + hard liqour = some sort of fetish in my book.
Underwear turning up in the Woodsville area over the years. Placed on top of the snow for Kathleen to find [cut/torn into two pieces], placed at the base of the tree with the blue bow, and from tree limbs on the roadsides.
Shack & Mscmom, thanks for putting things into perspective. Eight months, June of '05', and here I am saying weeks, I guess I don't have such a good momery after all. Here I am mistaking weeks for months/years very sad, very sad indeed.

Since February of '04' there have been (2)men linked to the brutal abductions, rapes, and murders of young women from MA/NH/VT.
I feel comfortable naming Brian Rooney while the other man is currently in custody awaiting the trial for the murder of (6) women - I'm pretty sure (2)of the victimes are from Manchester, NH.
The other young man is a serial rapist whose DNA recently proved a match to the brutal rapes and assaults of women from MA. Brian Knippers resided in Newmarket, NH and worked in Waltham, MA. He was an avid fisherman and there are many photos of him online ice fishing in the North Counrty.
There was a state-wide Ice Fishing Tournament the weekend before Maura went missing from the Woodsville area.
There were large construction job/projects going on in the area. Both Rooney & the other man worked in the field of construction.

The box of wine was still in the car! There is two theories the cup in the holder spilled or the wine box. Bottom line wine was spilled in the car. Seriously who can for 100 Maura even wore underware? Seriously you think someone is going to run around and plant underware?? You need to get out more you'd be AMAZED at what gets thrown out car windows. elsewherebriefly wrote: Maura's underwear were missing along with the bottles of liqour according to the LE inventory of items in the vehicle. Hey WhiteWash, this is the poem/song I was talking about. Kurt wrote it. He is Maura's brother, younger, and there are some pics of him and Maura still shown on the MMM website. What i wouldn't give Where have you run Is there somewhere that your new life has begun Adrift In a sea of endless time What have we done to make you turn your back on us and run from our love that will grow on your return Why have you shunned a life that you had only just begun to live........to live........ Chorus What i wouldn't give to only see your face your radiant smile, flowing grace if i could know for sure that you've not been lost in time and if you only knew what your absence here has put us through in hopes that someday soon you might walk back through that door Bridge I know you're out there waiting until the pain you feel subsides but your fears, your doubts, your anger with our love, we'll cast aside Repeat chorus Maura, we're missing you so dearly we see your face so clearly we pray with ever hopeful hearts that you'll still walk back through that door. There is a possibility Maura may not have chosen underwear as a staple in her wardrobe. Maybe I do need to get out more?? However, I don't believe the remote trail leading to French Pond was accessable to any vehicles/car windows at the time Kathleen found those underwear [that were cut/torn into two pieces] that had been NEATLY PLACED on top of the snow. Hmm, I guess I'll chalk up the pair of woman's underwear found at the base of the tree with the blue blow as someone with a good arm and even better aim? Again, I guess I really do need to get out more?

White Wash wrote: Very Interesting! Thanks for this! <quoted text> You are welcome White Wash, I read that Brian had numerous photos of incapacitated women. We've heard nothing since his indictment. I also forget to add Lovie a.k.a Bear Riddle. He may have been residing in the area at the time Maura went missing. One of his victims, who survived her attack, came forward on this forum. She kindly posted a news article listing crimes he confessed to throughout the US in the past. He is currently serving time in federal prison down in Florida for robbing a bank in Maine.

French Pond is famous for ice fishing! So is it possible it was rags that fell perhaps on the path? To be honest taking time to plant something like that really takes a lot effort in my opinion. In the winter time just not buying that much effort! On the panties left at the tree now that I will believe just plain and simple stupid mean disrespective act. Now if Maura was intending to go home as she told the girl she rides with she would have limited clothing as packed in my opinion since she would have CLOTHES at home correct. elsewherebriefly wrote: <quoted text> O.K. A man using a pair of woman's undewear as a rag?? Maybe a manly pair of BVD's but a woman's undergarments, I just don't know. A woman using such an item as a rag. Maybe some women wouldn't have a problem using an old pair of their underwear as a rag but I wouldn't in a million years. But, it's possible I don't get out much like you said. What you stated about the pair of underwear found at the base of the tree makes sense and is very much a possibility. Thanks for the input....

I don't know about the clothing at home statement. I can't speak for Maura. The only thing I left/leave at home are bulky/expensive items like hand knit sweaters, jackets, etc.

But I agree, leaving them by the tree--just mean, even if it's just random and not planted.

I know I'll probably get pounded into the ground for this but I think the sister knows much more than what she has said. Whiston I believe has been on the right track all along but sadly ignored or told he was wrong.

Again, I guess I really do need to get out more? I asked a while back who the person was that saw the underware at the bottom of the tree. I then asked the person when she came forward if she had taken pictures or told any LE and she stated no. I asked this for a reason. When I first saw this stated on the old site I could'nt believe it as I went by the tree all the time and always looked there and never saw any clothing.I drove that same day to the tree with a friend and we saw no clothing. I asked two people that I know would have noticed and they also said they never saw any underwear or clothing. This has bothered me for quite some time but now I don't really care if I get slammed for stating the truth as I see it about this. There WAS clothing found on the other end of 112 in the vicinity of split rock and I did see a bra hanging from a tree and clothing on the ground. There was also a garbage bag a little further away with what looked like more clothing in it. To me it looked like it fell out of someone's pickup. It was also being picked up by what looked like LE so someone must have reported it and it was checked out even if some think LE just sits around doing nothing.
