Hmm, I was recently told by an expert that alcholol is the main contributer in repeat offenses for serial sex offenders. I am sure the adrenalin rush/seeking to control the victim has a lot to do with it as well.

You obviously 'cared' enough to reply. There's a difference between poor typing and poor spelling, I'm guilty of poor typing for the most part.

I think Lavoie's, up in Haverhill, are the only specified towing company. They are related to some of the town employees. You are wrong. Lavoie's is NOT the only specified towing company in the area. I have heard a thousand times the dispatcher say he/she would call the next one on the list for towing. It's a revolving list. If the next one in line cannot be reached then the one after them will be called.

Well.....I don't know...... maybe this is crazy...but if two towing companies showed up....maybe the mix up was that Maura's AAA call was one of them?????????

She would not have been able to get a signal for her cell from there. There are very few places thru that area that you can get a signal. When I bought a new cell phone a few years ago I drove everywhere looking for a signal and decided that the phone would only be useful when traveling.

Okay...cringe....I'll put in my own experience on this. As Wowzer said, there is a revolving list that LE uses for towing purposes. However, there are ALWAYS other towing companies who "roam" the roads, with a scanner, and they have appeared on a scene before we did because sometimes they are closer and they are hoping if they are first, then they get the job. Sometimes, two will show up at the same time. If they aren't on the list, they don't get the tow but ya can't blame them for being "johnny on the spot." It's called being first in line and hopeful for work. But, our guys stick with the list and dispatch contacts the company who is up.

But what if there was an earlier accident very close by and she used a land line, or asked someone to call for her.
I'm not one to deviate from the responsible person she obviously had to be.....
I myself believe AAA was contacted.

WW Good grief...where's the slander..? (one paragraph with what I thought... didn't say I know)There was no negativity towards any family. Please read again. "In re-reading your Post, BF..about OPG...when I worked as Dispatcher for a local town police department, they had 2 towing services that were used alternately. I think Lavoie's, up in Haverhill, are the only specified towing company. They are related to some of the town employees." AND, I know that there are a "bunch" of towing businesses...however, I thought..(again thought) that they would have to have some kind of certification, to perform their services for LE.

In our area they are just on a list that is cycled through unless the owner specifically asks for someone or says they have already called AAA. As far as I know the service just needs to be properly licensed in our area to be on the list, again as far as I know. I thought that was pretty standard so it doesn’t appear that the police are playing favorites and it doesn’t open them to accusations of impropriety i.e. kickbacks, etc. Bill

Bill, that is exactly why they "took turns" with the 2 towing services in that small town at that time (when I worked for LE)

Yes, if the owner of the vehicle specifically requests a service, then that service is called. If no preference, then the tow company called is the next company on the list which is called a rotation list and the deputy requests dispatch to contact them. Dispatch keeps the list. The companies on the list have to be licensed through the State and have to meet the qualifications of the Sheriff's Dept.

hi all .the very odd thing about the whole AAA thing is they have nothing on file , zip, zero ,from anyone in Grafton county and i think even further afield for a February night in N.H.That is just too odd to me. I think i read that the towing contracts for P.D. are decided by the town but i could be wrong. As i said Maura told Sharon Rausch that she locked her keys in the saturn trunk and she called A.A.A. They have no record of this. What a surprise , something in Mauras past not being verified or a total mistake.does anyone know when and where the saturn was purchased ,we have the V.I.N but hearing from the family would not be unwelcome.i am still looking to see if the saturn was damaged over christmas break .If it was in such poor shape why even risk driving it to M.A. from C.T.and have mrMurray drive it.Why take it to Amherst M.A.from Bridgeport C.T.which is 105 miles.Just one more thing that causes eye brow movement in Mauras past life.Oh yeh i still have no doubt that Mauras past life has lots to tell.I really hope that she did leave to get help with her struggle or help someone that she cared about, maybe a family member.Someone close to Maura at Amherst knows why she left. The pond is drained so hold the ducks unless it is something useful about Mauras past.Lady Grey or anyone do you have a list of the contents of the saturn.take care philip

hi Firecat and all.AAA has no record of any calls from Maura except for the toyota bending in Hadley M.A.I think there were actually 2 times that Maura had said she called AAA.before the Hadley bending of the toyota.this was reported on the MMM site and for some reason was deemed o.k. to post.If i understand Maura got the AAA membership from the Rausch famiy as a christmas gift in 03. It seems odd she would have had 3 calls for assistance between december 25 and feb 09 but that was reported on the pold site.Has AAA been asked to flag Muaras account in some way, that is my best guess right now or Maura never called AAA except for the Hadley toyota bending .take care philip
