The Maricotts watched from the window but never called 911 now if you had issue with the SBD wouldn't you be on the horn to 911 out of the driver safety. Nor did they come out after Butch left? Both Westmans/Maricotts have reported movement around the car! Faith Westman has admitted well to me she knew nothing about the cells and the glows she later believe it was a phone and not someone smoking if you know the area. Never parties saw more than shadows moving around. No way to tell male/female/old/young. ScooterD wrote: <quoted text> Once again, the times just don't seem to match up...first sentence "Shortly after 7:00pm..." hears a noise; BUT doesn't call until 7:27pm???? Ilive in a very similar location as to where all this went down.#1, I don't understand how no one would have taken the time to throw on a jacket & run out to see if the person needed help. It's the fricken middle of winter & dark for god's sake. "Oh gee Bertha, looks like someone just went into the ditch right outside...what else is on tv?" ARGHHHHH!!! I realize this probably has nothing to do with the whole picture ...or does it? Why would you NOT go out to help?? Man/men in or around car so you figure they no what to do?!? I get they saw SBD and would think he would help but there still seems to be enough time where no on acted/reacted. I remember way back when we (forum) experimented in the dark with a cell phone & cigarette to see how it looked to someone else from a distance away. If I recall correctly - there was clearly a difference. The "on and off" glow of puffing on a cig; the backlight of the phone quite noticeable; the phone charger light not noticeable. My 2 cents for the moment....

whiston wrote: hi all.a couple of thoughts.we dont know if the saturn driver was going west toward Woodsville .There is and was a sticker on the car that tells the world that the driver may be a student. One of the Westmans may have seen the driver trying to use a cell phone which may put a phone at the saturn, which may have pinged in the area later. We dont know who to believe about what time the saturn arrived at the barn.I have always wondered if the driver walked down to mrAtwwods driveway ,hence the trail and simply got in the passenger seat because it was easier when returning to the saturn. If Maura was driving the saturn she may have not wanted P.D. called because that could mean her family would find out about he trip. They would run the plates etc.If Maura used the AAA card in Hadley she carried it with her to the saturn it has been reported found in the saturn. If a bottle of booze is found under a car after it is towed could this be used as evidence in a drunk driving case.I think it would cost too much [dollar wise]to tie it to a drunk driving case and unless the driver admitted they had dumped it it would be useless and sgt Smith would know this.take care philip I think the bottle of booze under the car that you referred to was a coke can that smelled like it contained alcohol. Unless FW was hallucinating or mistaken, she saw another person at the crash site smoking a cigarette. Maura hated cigarettes so she wasn't the person FW saw. Her now deceased husband disagreed and said he thought the red glow was from a cellphone and he concluded that the driver was trying to call someone for help. Since it's a dead zone, however, the call wouldn't have gone through. The smoker may have brought the can to the scene and dropped it there. I hope the cops seized it and sent it to the crime lab to be swabbed and DNA tested. The person who drank the coke may have left saliva around the hole and that saliva might yield a DNA profile that does not match Maura. Red glow from a cell phone? What was he thinking? Maura had a Samsung cell phone according to her website and they posted a picture of the model. I can't recall any cell phone that emitted a red glow, except the screen lights up when the user dials a number and goes dark after the call goes through. Since the caller has the phone pressed to the ear waiting for the call to be answered, I don't believe the red glow FW saw was from a cell phone. Besides when a smoker inhales the red glow brightens considerably. VC snipers in Viet Nam at night used to aim just above the glow and pull the trigger when it brightened. Quite a few of our boys were picked off that way. I'm pretty sure the cops must have inventoried the alcohol in the car and compared it to the receipt, assuming they found the receipt when they searched the car. They seem to have known where Maura bought the stuff in Amherst. I'm playing the what-if game inserting psychosis into the mix as an explanation for Maura's weird behavior, so I'm guessing that she didn't consume enough alcohol during the drive to have blown a 0.10 BAC.

Just to clear something up..... Within a month of Maura's disappearance, people in the area were getting very sick of Mr. Murray and his family as well as investigators asking questions. Most people didn't even want to talk to us. A few locals are quoted as saying, "nothing happened to her, she was drunk, suicidal, troubled and more" I live only a short distance from the acc. scene and I have questioned almost all of the people who live in the 2 to 3 mile radius. I don't believe I ever heard one person say "Sorry I can't HELP" most just brushed us off and said "Good Luck" or "Get off my property" .......Yeah, there are alot of nice caring people up here. I even had guns pointed at me when driving into peoples driveways. "WELCOME TO NH, NOW GO HOME" Like the bumper sticker says. Just a point I want to make....

If so, maybe red-truck-driver was waiting until she got out. Thoughts?

Cell charges make a red glow. TW passed away since when? The Westmans have one of the 1st Mac computers so they are not up to speed in the Tech world. Where is the butt? They are never smart enough to take them with them. What was in the report I believe was a plastic soda bottle it was logged as evidence and assuming it was sent to the lab with other items from the car, knife,cw prior mobile home ect. So 2 of the 3 neighbors called 911 and filled out statements one just watched so what does that mean? Where is the Det. car master can you please tell us if the inspection was up to date since you have seen it first hand? Thanks! According to the papers got a murder running around why wouldn't people protect themselves? They had been publicly accused of being just what you wrote again and you expect people to just keep coming back to be slapped? What part don't you get that NICE EQUALS NICE! Really so the first 30 people those people talked to don't count? Why can't any of you PI's share your paper work. Do you know how many PI's have been out there! Do you have any clue how many LE/PI's/Press have been out there? People can pull out stacks of cards out! Detective Columbo wrote: Just to clear something up..... When you are ready to move beyond being a child name calling and bad mouthing everyone can you please tell us the exact height of the damage on the hood from the ground. Can you also tell us if the inspection sticker was current. Can you also tell us the height of the dent on the tree. Mariotts have a red truck so I'm sure you have measured and looked at their bumper right? Detective Columbo wrote: Another note.... "Probably would have gotten that if they had called 911 instead of just watching!" Quote You said it best White Wash!!!! That is the problem.....People don't want to get involved. Watch from the window and if it doesn't effect them....OH WELL. Just like when people go by an acc. scene, they have to slow down to look, but most ppeople would not even stop to see if they could be of help. TODAYS SOCIETY.

So, there's only one offer to help in acquiring a recent photo (or any for that matter)of the CW? Sad. You'd think there was at least one floating around out there. A P.I. should have one. Something as simple as this could dismiss or affirm my suspicion. Use discretion and Email it only to angeldotmikezeroatgmaildotcom .

Thank You! There where and are people who got involved! The SBD and The Westmans who picked up the phone and called 911 these poor souls have been raked over the coals like nobody should have been. CW went to the NHSP. And the one who stood and watched and never came have never once been raked over? You talk about TODAYS SOCIETY well Det. some of us live it every day some just talk about it. I would love to hear more on the CH employee. Where they picked up? Did they get out at 7PM do the punch the time clock. How long did they need to let their car warm. What took them so long between goose lane and RT112 was out there Sat not far enough for them not to be in front of Smith. But more so I am dying to know what the retire LE up the road had for the good DET. CW has a bit of a past so who better to pin something on. White Wash wrote: Inspection of Oct 17, 2003 interesting! So how does MA work on inspections? It was in Fred's name and given how much he loves Maura I can't image him putting her in an uninspected car! <quoted text> If the car was inspected in October of 2003 and Maura disappeared in February of 2004, the answer is quite simple: She wasn't in an uninspected vehicle. Motor vehicle inspections are good for a year. This was four months and change.

Thoughts? Possible, I suppose, if he was up to no good and she had reason to recognize and be afraid of him, perhaps due to an earlier unpleasant encounter such as her clipping the front or back bumper of his truck attempting to get away from him. That may have caused the dent in the engine hood on the driver's side above the bumper. However, if that's true, how did she get away from him, or how did he lose her? She could not have outrun him in the Saturn. BTW, in the photograph of the damage to the hood a red dot appears on the headlamp. Do you know if that's an artifact in the photo and, if not, do you know if anyone swabbed and analyzed it? What if it's red paint that chemically matches a product sold by a major paint manufacturer to auto manufacturers and auto body shops? That would be an interesting development, wouldn't it? Or, maybe it's human blood.
