Have you guys ever thought of using different threads for different aspects of the discussion? It might be a way to organize and keep some continuity of thought.

Found in searching, that directions to Stowe VT were found on her computer...
Still don't remember if that was one of the printouts found in car..with

I know you've asked this recently, but I hadn't answered because I don't recall either. MCSMOM!!!!!

I'd explain it by saying that the affidavit says someone called Maura from near Londonbury. Maura could have been anywhere.
Yes phones ping when someone tries to reach you - if your phone's power is on - but - according to the affidavit - the record referenced in the affidavit was a call to Maura. Nothing in the affidavit said anything about Maura's phone.
That should cover it.
Thank you. That's English about cell phone pings even *I* can understand (and, like White Wash has recently confessed, I'm blonde.)

If the boxes were on the bed when I returned from Christmas break, they'd be on the floor pretty quick and that's where the would remain until I got sick and tired of looking at them and stepping over them. That might not happen for a long time.
Who is going to get up in the morning, make the bed, and pile all of the boxes back on top of the bed before leaving the room?
That's absurd.
Next thing to figure out: 1) When did the boxes get packed up? I have wondered if saying she didn't want to wake up roommate was so her supervisor didn't see boxes packed up?

In the course of your digging, have you become aware of any hospitalizations or commitments related to Maura's mental health?
Do you have access to her school/medical records? HIPPA, you know.
Indeed, the 'brilliance' of an armchair dx of schizophrenia, BPD, major depression...or whatever...would be great to weave into the plot...if only it could be substantiated by fact.
Ok, let's think about this for about a half a second.

Maura was a student at West Point before transferring to UMass.

Any chance on this planet or any other that West Point would admit someone with a history of mental illness? Because ya gotta know they looked.

IF (and I say IF, because I don't believe we're looking at anything other than extreme stress brought about in the last three or four days before she disappeared) Maura had any sort of mental health issues, it happened AFTER West Point. No WAY would they have accepted her there if she had had any history or symptoms of mental illness.

This call had to have been made from within a 22 mile radius of the tower. The identity of this caller and telephone number has not been made as of this date.
6. That identifying the caller of the telephone call could be pertinent to the ongoing ~ investigation and may lead to the whereabouts of Maura Murray. 9'
7. Based on the foregoing, there is probable cause to believe evidence in the suspicious disappearance of Maura Murray may be found through Sprint Wireless Cell Tower Telephone Records, including any outgoing calls from the Londonderry tower of Sprint to Maura Murrays Sprint PCs number *** for February 9, 2004 from 0001 hours to 2400 hours.
I obviously need to apologize for my statements, but I was spcifically discussing pinging. The affadavit isn't discussing a ping.... it's discussing a call being trasmitted....where did the statement come in to say that her phone pinged?(pung? had pung? have pung? not sure of what tense to use for the verb!) Did Sprint ever look at Maura's last ping and where it was from?

I have never heard that Maura had any previous mental health problems and firecat, the point you make is a valid one...

Sara, I wondered the same thing for why she didnt want her superviser in her room.

Snowy White, I'm laughing at the absurdity of even being reduced to discussing meanings! lol...onward...

Actually, under the American's With Disabilities Act, they cannot refuse admission to a person with a psychiatric disability if they otherwise qualify. Kind of ironic, huh?

I fully concur with your statement above.

Thanx for taking some of the Fire out of my Cat, FireCat, though I may still need a dip in the sink to be distracted away from my irritation by specific suggestions/accusations made about Maura's mental health.

Stress, anxiety, and yes, even bouts of depression are commonplace...coping mechanisms, if you will.

If, by my observation, I conclude that the appearance of thinness means someone has an eating disorder, and then suggest same to others online, at the very least, I'd be engaging in potentially harmful innuendo...or worse.

My suspicion is that by definition someone with the mental illness people are describing Maura as possibly having would not "otherwise" qualify, since those "other" qualifications are things like being able to withstand serious (and I mean SERIOUS, as in war-time) amounts of stress, leadership potential, etc.

Not that they wouldn't actually be, just that the Army would find them "not otherwise qualified." I'm also not saying this is right or wrong or I agree with them or not. I'm just saying that it's very unlikely that the Army would admit someone with a charted history of mental illness, ADA notwithstanding.

Hello everyone,

Are we %100 sure that Maura's car was towed from Bridgeport to Amherst over break? I thought someone on this forum awhile back said she did not drive her Saturn home for X-mass break?
Also, it would be be beneficial to know when this Saturn first became unsafe to drive. Before X-mass break or after? Any thoughts?

I OFFER A SAD BUT UNIFIED THEORY
Maura Murray receives a telephone call at 1 am on Friday, February 6, 2004, while she is at work in Melville Hall monitoring the sign-in desk. The caller is a fellow student, a young man with whom she is acquainted and regards as a close friend. During the first two weeks of the new semester, she let him use her Saturn that she had decided not to use to commute to her clinicals because it was unreliable. She had been hitching rides to her clinicals with other nursing students.
Her friend tells her that he hit someone at the intersection of Triangle and Matoon streets, panicked, and left the scene. He’s afraid he might have killed the person because he hit him pretty hard. He says he doesn’t think anyone saw the accident, but he’s not sure. He doubled back to check on the guy and saw him on the ground, apparently dead or unconscious. The news upsets Maura and one of the reasons why she is upset is the car is registered to her father, Fred Murray, and she promised him that she wouldn’t lend it to anyone. She is so upset that her supervisor, Karen Mayotte, lets her off early and walks her to her dormitory, Kennedy Hall. Maura won’t tell her why she is upset.
She and her dad go shopping on Saturday to buy a car to replace the Saturn, which he plans to trade-in as part of the deal. Maura is worried about the condition of the Saturn, which is badly damaged from the hit and run collision the previous night. She discusses the situation with her friend and they decide they have to get rid of the Saturn before her dad sees the damage or the cops show up knocking on her door to question her about it. They figure they have to get rid of it before the following weekend when her dad plans to return to campus, close the deal on the new car, and turn in the Saturn.
Continued in Part 2
Unified theory might start off right but imho some gaps and too many complications especially Sunday and Monday. Not hard to narrow down field of Amherst people. If Vasi hit by close friend, then a simple close friend cover up very possible, but other cover ups should also be kept in mind.

Another interesting thing I read in one of many articles was that a girl that lived four doors down from Maura's dorm said she did not even know Maura lived there and it sounded like she had never even seen her. That seems strange to me, any thoughts on this?

Not really worth it, but possible small lead might be found if you try standing in line late afternoon on center and listen to the music and poetry. Need a good ear. Probably waste of time.

More realistic suggestion is search Amherst for the obvious about where she probably was before she disappeared. Very simple. Extremely routine, very easy to do, done all the time. No talent required. Find the answer, disregard the answer, and then look very closely at the structure. If you don't get it, look up meaning in dictionary.

If Beagle Bart is right about this, why on earth should the crashed Toyota of Maura´s father cause such an interest at the body shop?
I´ve never been able to explain this.
Ideas???"
When I first started reading about this case and I heard that there was a car accident several days before Maura disappeared, my first thought was that she did it on purpose. I don't think this way now after reading more about the case. I think this accident truly was an accident. However, people cause accidents for insurance fraud and other reasons, so I would imagine that the police would be very interested in that first accident that Maura had in Amherst.
Check now location of Corolla crash.

Surely this is not strange as the numbers going to Umass will attest to. Many people in this world simply do not know their next door neighbors. Period.
