truth wrote: <quoted text> Any family or friends help her bring belongings to her room after returning from the winter break? If so, perhaps they know what was in boxes at that time and what conditiona the room was in. Also, the night of the distrubing phone call it was reported thet Marua was escorted to her dorm room by her supervisor. If she left some time after to sleep elsewhere wouldnt the main door record her leaving? No member of her family even accompanied her back to school. Fred Murray drove the Saturn to somewhere within 100 miles of Amherst. He called AAA and had them hook-up the Saturn and tow it to the parking lot at Kennedy Hall. Maura rode in the tow truck. Fred Murray drove home. He exerted quite an effort to help her commute to her clinicals by providing her with a mechanically unsound vehicle that she was afraid to drive. But then she probably didn't need one since the clinical in Norwood was only 100 miles each way. He also made quite an effort to help her move back to campus after the long break. Bridgeport is 104 miles from Amherst and there was no tow fee for a tow less than 100 miles. So, he took some time out of his terribly busy schedule to drive to a drop-off place. Of course, he did buy himself a new car so he had expenses. What a great dad!

truth wrote: <quoted text> So, why lie to the supervisor about the roomate? Perhaps to get out of work... therefore maybe the disturbing phone call was not so disturbing. The upsetting phone call is speculated to be a lie that Maura made up to get out of work, but as far as the roommate, no reason has been stated. Personally, I speculate she lied about the roommate so the supervisor did not see her packed boxes, but as I said, just an opinion.

Maura's sister Kathleen offered that explanation. After Maura disappeared, she also remarked that maybe dad would have more time to share with his family now that Maura was gone. Looks like some serious jealousy going on there so I wouldn't give much weight to anything Kathleen said.

Does anyone know if the tow truck driver that Maura rode with to Amherst was questioned for information? After all, the damage appears to be done by a tow.

So Dad says take a tow back to school. She brings some belongings from the car in the parking lot to her dorm room by herself. Couldnt have been more than one box/bag. Everything else might have been left in the car. She is in school for about a week and decides to take a trip up North. Has anyone talked to the tow truck driver to see if any anything seemed out of the ordinary?

Not that we will ever know the answer to this, but if I were to speculate I'd say she was probably quiet and didn't say much.

I believe Fred Murray had used the AAA tow idea before. My response "not to my knowledge" referred to your question about whether anyone talked to the tow truck driver.
I have asked many times for information about the Saturn from the family regarding its condition before it was towed to Amherst, after it arrived there, and when it left there.
My questions have been ignored.

Mason - where did you read that the sister made the comment about spending more time with the family? It is Kathleen in the black and white photos - she is clearly upset. I don't believe for a minute a family member would make such a comment.
Please post the link. I get really irritated when people bash the family. Perhaps her dad didn't have any more time off work so he did what he could.. sometimes that is the best we can do. Also Citigirl her cousin has stated several times. Her clinicals were in Holyoke - NOT norwood.
Just does not feel right when the family is truly hurting.

Citigirl Could you please answer Mason's question about the Saturn's condition at Amherst? Since Fred dropped her off at the dorm - perhaps he saw it. If he didn't - post that and we can put that to bed. Or any friends from UMASS lurking her - which I think is probably likely - post the Saturn's condition. Thanks in advance!! Dawn

As far as I know this is still a public forum and everyone has a right to their opinion even if it may differ from someone elses's opinion. I don't think anyone has the right to give a "lashing" to anyone for their opinion. Did it ever occur to you that I may not like your opinion but it is not my right to give you a lashing for it. JMO which is my right.

If you read my post it wasn't a lashing - I didn't say anything except - stating that I didn't think the family would make a comment stating basically they are glad that she is gone so now they have more time with dad... JMO - not a lashing at all. It was a joke.

I believe that Maura drove her father's new Corolla from CT...following Fred driving the Saturn. At what point, if at all, the Saturn was towed to Amherst, I don't know. Because I don't see what this has to do with Maura's disappearance, I don't have to know.

Also - one last note - I have had great success in getting replies from both Weeper and Citigirl. I think when you look at this with the glass half full - you get more answers. Some wonder why the family or friends don't post - that is a no brainer - who would want to read that about a loved one or being insulted - anyone who knew her has been put through the ringer ... Tata.. Good night

I'm not positive but I think it came from someone that was walking behind or near the sister and her husband at one of the searches. I believe she made the comment to her husband who then told her to be quiet or shut up.
