***Therefore, someone IN THAT AREA AT THE TIME is very likely a perp.***
Why do you think that someone in this area is very likely the perp Firecat?
I know I've mentioned this before but like many other things I've said it gets totally ignored so I'll say it again.
Rt 112 is the main route from 91 in Wells River to the Loon Mountain ski area. Many out of staters from MA, CT, NJ etc. use this route to go skiing and go to their condos.
Why can't it be possible that someone from outside this area could be the perp if there even is a perp?
Read what I wrote VERY CLOSELY, Wowzer. It says "in that area at that time." What that means is that they were in the area WHEN MAURA WAS IN THE AREA.

I didn't say they LIVED there, or even that they had any connection to the area. You were so hellbent on finding an accusation in what I said that you missed half of the sentence, and it's a half I added very consciously because I KNOW that it doesn't necessarily have to be someone who lived there. I-5 truck stop murders, anyone?

Maura's case is being treated as a criminal case by law enforcement. That means they think there is a perpetrator of a crime. Presumably they are looking for said perpetrator.

Why must you INSIST that everything certain people say is an attack? THERE ISN'T ONE HERE. I am simply saying that someone

IN THE AREA

AT THE TIME

OF MAURA'S DISAPPEARANCE

is likely to be responsible for it. Meaning....they had to be near her....to abduct her. That's not frickin' rocket science. And I THOUGHT it was pretty clear grammatically, spelled out in small words of four letters or less, what I was saying.

Apparently if you want to hear something different, you're going to hear it, no matter what words I use, so carry on. I'm going to take a hot bath.

Oh, and I've had that done, thanks. It wasn't murder of which I was accused, but far more petty things. Also, I think the media has done its fair share--or more--of doing the dragging through the mud. On all sides. So don't go placing all the blame on Maura's family, or any of the forums.

2004 or 2009 there was and still is not much of a signal here for cell phones. Much less in 2004 and not many people had them in this area so it is very likely that the officer did not have a cell phone since it would be of no use most of the time.
Right. Because it's just hard to get a cell signal in the mountains. That's not going to change any time soon. They're granite. ;-) You'd have to put up towers every five feet.

Anyone that wants to find their missing loved one, I would think, would not start complaining if people contributed alternative explanations.
When those "alternative explanations" are created by people with limited mental capacities that crave attention and conclude by presuming Maura lost it and fell into a drunken craze, I think they should do more than just complain.

If my sister went missing, and I told you that, since I know her better than you or anybody else, there is no fantasy alternative in which she went to run off and live in the woods or whatever else you may come up with, and some Internet loser, who has never met her nor do they know the very least about her, counters that by offering their own "explanations", I would ignore it too and let you cry about it.

And your typical pseudo-intellectual oblivious limited mental capacity would respond by saying "a college girl driving a broken down car 4 hours away in the middle of the winter with no place to go without telling anybody..." blah blah. However considering that you don't know a thing about college girls or people in general given your life is spent on a computer, you can't comprehend why someone would take a small road trip alone. I drove to Okeechobee, FL from Tampa a week ago, right there in the middle of nowhere. If something had happened to me, everybody would have wondered what the heck I was doing out there, but I have a perfectly good reason, one that many people who know me probably wouldn't even guess.

You've obviously never had a loved one missing. Cry a river all day and night about how the family doesn't listen to you and your girlfriend's "mastermind" limited point of view. There's a good reason why.

There he is, the Tallyrand of Topix!

Better watch out for him! He tells you exactly what he doesn't want to hear - because he knows it makes sense.

"a college girl driving a broken down car 4 hours away in the middle of the winter with no place to go without telling anybody..." blah blah."

Here he is, bringing back his miserable carcus - limping like the Bishop of O'Toole - the Talyrand Topix - scraping his broken theories back into the thread.

Don't waste you time with me - I know you.

You know had a good idea there for a while - trying to use my Topix user name - the more you post the more you prove my point.

I didn't insist on anything. I asked a simple question that I thought could be answered with a simple answer since I'm a simple person and not some English professor that rubs that fact into people's faces. Maybe you answered your own question about why I may think things said by certain people may be meant as an attack....**Firecat wrote:It is true that everyone mentioned in this case, by name or by proximity, has been scrutinized and considered a suspect. But that's because IT'S A CRIMINAL CASE.**

Oh and Firecat I've graduated to 5 letter words now so feel free to not have to use the 4 letter or less words on me, but thanks so much for your help. Jeesh! Do you starch and iron your undies and always walk around with your nose high in the air? It might benefit you to look down once in a while instead of just putting people down.

Once again, I rest my case. There you go, being automatically defensive and assuming I'm saying or implying something I'm not.

Remember Rodney King: "Why can't we all just get along?" (But then, didn't he go to jail for something? oh well)

Anyway, you guys are NOT all on different sides!

i think there's some problem with the way we interpret other peoples' posts!

like a lot of posters, i don't have an agenda. That made people suspicious of me, not knowing what to make of me!!! haha! but because of that i can see that most rational posters believe that Haverhill, NH has its crime and bureaucratic problems, but just to the extent of any similar towns and counties. I don't think there's any use trying to talk sense into posters who are convinced and vocal about Haverhill being a den of iniquity!

Nobody wants to hurt the Murray family, but it's to be expected that uncomfortable questions will come up. If they're asked in a businesslike way, that's what the forums are here for... in addition to the primary family reason of keeping Maura's name heard. If we didn't bring up every possibility, we might as well just keep posting "Bumping for Maura" 13,103 times!

Firecat is clear on the facts and I've never seen her twist them around; and Advocate too keeps good notes. I've seen a lot of incorrect "facts" posted here, probably because there's a lot of material to keep track of. Also, we've gotten contradictory info from all authorities, and even the PIs have different opinions (staged accident vs. not staged, etc.).

There's info only LE has, info only the PIs have, info only the family has, and a variety of news articles with conflicting info which we all have.

IMO most people who are not here for amusement are looking for the truth. And everyone's frustrated. And I don't think we're communicating really clearly with each other. It seems like we're speaking different languages, but maybe saying the same thing.

enuf. you get it.

FWIW ... Fred Murray issued a plea to Maura to come home, they would work things out as they always had. Her brother Kurt posted a poem on the MMM site indicating she was angry about something. Obviously they DIDN'T AND DON'T know for an absolute certainty that Maura did not take off and stay gone on purpose.
