No, I haven't talked to Jackie in a long time and I left Seattle a little over 4 years ago. After she and I cofounded IPNW and got the Wenatchee project up and running, I went on to work with Barry Scheck & the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers to form other innocence projects at other law schools modeled after IPNW.
Jackie ran IPNW on a daily basis for which she deserves all of the credit after we got the Wenatchee project running. In addition to my NACDL work (I was a member of the Board of Directors), I got into a 9-month death penalty trial in Tacoma and those activities kept me pretty busy along with my forensic consulting and two other death penalty cases, including the Green River Killer case.
BTW, she spells her name McMurtrie.
I can't post my email and phone number here because I just got this message when I tried:
"Topix does not condone the posting of phone numbers, social security numbers, or other personal information into the forums."
Annoying!
I'll PM you on the other site with the info.
Fred
Not nearly as annoying as what happened recently when you tried to set up another IP, which I read about in trying to google some of what you were talking about to help it make sense to me so I could follow along. Serious bummer, dude! That's got to be so frustrating for you.

Thanks for the input John.
I went back to the link I provided re: Maura Murray Weeper and figured I'd explain that up in the left hand corner you'll see the words find Maura. If you click on them it will lead you to the main index. Hope that helps. Or you could copy and paste what Mason provided which might be a bit easier.
re: elsewherebriefly. It's not so curious. I can be somewhat of a clutz and a ditz at times.
Yes, I agree, the rag in the tailpipe has been brought up in numerous discussions.
Lady Gray speculated that the rag was used to wipe of prints and stuck in the tailpipe by the perpetrator.
Weeper recently discussed the possibility that the rag was placed in the tailpipe to make it appear Maura was a attempting to commit suicide.
Thanks elsewhere. Appreciate the guidance on using the other page.

As for the rag in the tailpipe. No real possibility of that being used to kill oneself, as - I have learned recently -(1) it will simply cause a running car to back fire and stall, and (2) it will cause a non-started car to be unstartable. The only other reason to put a rag in a tail pipe is to check for moisture as an indication of head gasket problems.

If my information on this is correct, then, most likely, someone didn't want someone starting the car. I believe it is an established fact (although God help me if there is dispute about this) that the rag was from the Saturn's roadside emergency kit. So, the rag had to have been put in the tail pipe at the scene (or the car could not have been driven there) by someone who most likely was inside the car. And it would appear that whomever put it there did not want the car to be started. If Maura was alone, doubt she would have put it there to -say - prevent a theif from hotwiring.

In the end, the rag points me to someone being with Maura in the Saturn. Shortly after the accident they part company. One or the other is afraid that the other will try to start the car and leave while he/she is absent.

Speculation, of course, but I maintain that if we could explain the rag, we could explain a lot of other things.

Which courthouse were the papers located ? I'm going to call today - grafton? Please advise. If they won't give info over the phone.

Who - is local that could go to the actual court house?

Anne? Whiston? Shack?

I would like to see what else is in the file. I have the abilty to scan into a PDF as well.

Who here has actually contacted LE Troop F ? What do they say? They didn't return Maribeth Conways calls. However, if a local was persistant. I could see it would wear on them

alcoholics bench - pioneer square- is not even close to the waterfront either.. are you sure you weren't in san fran

Thanks John,

Although I thoroughly understand your line of reasoning I stated the rag in the tailpipe was to 'make it appear' Maura was trying to commit suicide.

In 2001 an article was published about missing persons in New Hampshire. A state trooper spoke quite candidly. The numbers of individuals who were reported missing and who, allegedly, committed suicide made it appear to me that it would be quite easy for LE to be quick assume a missing person was suicidal. I'll have to pull up the article and provide the link so you can read it for yourself.

Interestingly enough, the suicide theory was one of the first and LE tried to back it up with Maura's favorite book, a note left on top of boxes in her dorm room, etc.

The Link has expired but here's a quote from small portion of the article.

Lost - and sometimes found
in the White Mountains
By LORNA COLQUHOUN
Sunday News Correspondent

"Local police say they get field several calls a year from relatives reporting that loved ones may have headed for the mountains intending to end their lives. reasons.“How many others have there been over the years?” Bruno mused, noting that some people may have never been reported missing.“I know there are others out there who have never been found. If I sat down, I could probably come up with quite a few others.” There is no list, per se, of people believed missing in the White Mountains."

John,

It is indeed, as you say, quite possible that someone was with Maura in the Saturn at the Weathered Barn.
If we presume this to have been the case....
Then why wasn´t that other person seen by the SBD, who only spoke of having seen and spoken with a young lady, who may or may not have been Maura.
There would hardly have been enough time for a possible second person to run from the car in time to not having been observed doing so by the SBD arriving in his bus.
Thoughts and ideas?

Euro,

You're going to hate me for this:

The dude was small, maybe cute in an Orwellian sort of way, and even though his voice cut through steel when he was whispering, he was still ... well, small.

So, he grabbed the rag, climbed into the tail pipe and pulled the rag in after him to avoid detection and get warm.

Dawn,

You're hanging with the wrong crowd. The bench is on Alaska Way not far from the bottom of Yesler Street, which is the origin of the term skid row. If you look south from there, you'll see the entry to the Duwamish Waterway where many of the container ships unload/load their containers.

The Duwamish is a river that flows into the Sound.

Get yourself some fortified wine and park your bad little self on the bench and get to know some of your fellow citizens.

Or is it denizens?????

White Wash produced the Affidavit for Search Warrant and said she found it in the legal file at the Grafton County Courthouse.
