I have never been to NH, let alone a search.
I never met Maura, and I hardly knew Beth as a person.
I don't know that I spoke with the real Petrit Vasi online.

If my information on this is correct, then, most likely, someone didn't want someone starting the car. So, the rag had to have been put in the tail pipe at the scene (or the car could not have been driven there) by someone who most likely was inside the car. And it would appear that whomever put it there did not want the car to be started. If Maura was alone, doubt she would have put it there to -say - prevent a theif from hotwiring.
In the end, the rag points me to someone being with Maura in the Saturn. Shortly after the accident they part company. One or the other is afraid that the other will try to start the car and leave while he/she is absent.
Speculation, of course, but I maintain that if we could explain the rag, we could explain a lot of other things.

The Saturn had an automatic transmission and it was found in neutral, which means the car wouldn't start.

Some have speculated that the car was placed in neutral at the nearby scene of a previous accident and towed with a rope with the Saturn coming loose in the curve at the Weathered Barn and crashing into the snowbank.

According to this theory, the rag was placed in the tail pipe as a warning that it was being towed to any drivers that might be behind the Saturn

I don't believe this happened, but I can't prove it didn't.

I've decided to just laugh at everybody about this identity thing because I've gotten way to intense about it. Seriously, I thank everyone for challenging my identity because my reaction has established that I have invested far too much of my identity in being a lawyer, a law professor, and an astrologer. Yes, I engage in those activities, but as a human being, I am so much more than than any one or all of those things. And, so are each of you mre than what you do for a living.
