Thanks John,
Although I thoroughly understand your line of reasoning I stated the rag in the tailpipe was to 'make it appear' Maura was trying to commit suicide.
In 2001 an article was published about missing persons in New Hampshire. A state trooper spoke quite candidly. The numbers of individuals who were reported missing and who, allegedly, committed suicide made it appear to me that it would be quite easy for LE to be quick assume a missing person was suicidal. I'll have to pull up the article and provide the link so you can read it for yourself.
Interestingly enough, the suicide theory was one of the first and LE tried to back it up with Maura's favorite book, a note left on top of boxes in her dorm room, etc.
That is an interesting take I had not thought of at all. So, are you suggesting she put it there to stage a failed suicide or that the cops did or someone else?

Thanks for the informative post

John, I am NOT connected to UW Law School, but it IS a small world, re Jackie, as Mason said!
Three people posting here know her.

Has anyone considered the possibility that she was at 112 and OPL?

John,
It is indeed, as you say, quite possible that someone was with Maura in the Saturn at the Weathered Barn.
If we presume this to have been the case....
Then why wasn´t that other person seen by the SBD, who only spoke of having seen and spoken with a young lady, who may or may not have been Maura.
There would hardly have been enough time for a possible second person to run from the car in time to not having been observed doing so by the SBD arriving in his bus.
Thoughts and ideas?
It is hard to fathom. I guess it depends where he or she went. Perhaps the person did not want to be seen and therefore sequestered off the side of the road when the few cars came by. Also, didn't one of the neighbors (a woman, whose husband disagreed with her if I remember correctly) say that there was a man in the car smoking a cigarette while the bus driver was talking to Maura outside the car?

I see your point - it is tricky to hypothesize - but it does seem possible that the other person left the scene undetected.

Also were there not reports later that night of a man up in Woodsville approached innocuously by police who ran away?

In the end, I don't know. I just think rag in tail pipe strongly suggests two people in the car.

Euro,
You're going to hate me for this:
The dude was small, maybe cute in an Orwellian sort of way, and even though his voice cut through steel when he was whispering, he was still ... well, small.
So, he grabbed the rag, climbed into the tail pipe and pulled the rag in after him to avoid detection and get warm.
Fred

LOL.

That was funny in a bizarre sort of way Fred.

John,
The Saturn had an automatic transmission and it was found in neutral, which means the car wouldn't start.
Some have speculated that the car was placed in neutral at the nearby scene of a previous accident and towed with a rope with the Saturn coming loose in the curve at the Weathered Barn and crashing into the snowbank.
According to this theory, the rag was placed in the tail pipe as a warning that it was being towed to any drivers that might be behind the Saturn
I don't believe this happened, but I can't prove it didn't.
Fred
Interesting idea. Very well constructed. Not sure what I think of it.

I don't think that rags are put in the tail pipe of towed cars. It just does not register with me, but what do I know.

The break loose theory does not appeal to me for whatever reason. But the idea of the car being towed has some possibilities. Going back to staging an accident to cover a Vasi hit ... maybe a furtive from a friendly two capable somebody was a part of the staging.

Interesting to me that all the explanations for getting MM to 112 and OPL (that resonate with me) also lead me to believe that her abduction was unconnected to those circumstances, beyond wrong place wrong time.

But the more I learn the more I realize, as fascinating as it all is, it is hopelessly out of reach.

Can't you start an automatic in neutral? I thought you could. Not in gear, but in neutral, I thought you could.

I posted the article in it's entirety on the forum. It may be worth your while to read it.

No, I've remained consistant about my beliefs and I've yet to hear/read anything that can sway me. Since the moment I learned about Maura's disappearance, a few months later, I have firmly believed that Maura was the victim of and foul play.

I also believe the person(s) responsible for Maura's disappearance has/have done it before and will do it again.

In saying this I believe in the possibility that Maura's vehicle was staged.

I am thankful to the volunteer private investigators, volunteer SAR teams, and STALK for the many hours they've dedicated towards Maura's investigation.

What good would it do to stand-up? You couldn't see me.
I've decided to just laugh at everybody about this identity thing because I've gotten way to intense about it. Seriously, I thank everyone for challenging my identity because my reaction has established that I have invested far too much of my identity in being a lawyer, a law professor, and an astrologer. Yes, I engage in those activities, but as a human being, I am so much more than than any one or all of those things. And, so are each of you mre than what you do for a living.
It's far too easy to identify oneself as a lawyer, doctor, nurse, professor, teacher, bartender, waiter, etc. These forms of identification mean nothing in the end because they are only activities from which we make a living.
So, people can accept or reject what I say. My words speak for themselves as the words of others speak for them.
Many thanks and many blessings to all of you for teaching me that important lesson.
Fred
I don't think anyone has disputed or doubts that I graduated U Dub law school around the time you were said you were working with JM. As such, I feel like I have a right to join the "is Fred Fred" debate. Three things:(1) you did have some specific knowledge, but (2) you first said you taught at U Dub, but backed away from that slightly when you found out I was there. So, finally,(3) can you name some professors who were there at about that time, because I will know and you would not be able to easily research past U Dub law professors. If you can do that to my satisfaction, and I believe you, I don't see how anyone could dispute that you are the Fred you claim to be.

Or did I miss the point of the Paris-Fred argument? It seems like I miss a lot of points here.

And by the way, who is this much ballyhood Paris?

John,

I have never claimed that I taught at the UW. Where did you get that idea?

I know John Junker.

That's it. Ain't playing this tiresome game anymore. If you don't believe me, that's fine because I really don't care.

I do care when people misstate what I said.

John I might say right away, it is not necessary to me to confirm anything about Mason, nor Beagle nor anyone else. I think it is important to respond to the message, not the messenger. As far as Paris, she/he is a poster from the beginning of forum involvement, I always thought she gave great posts, and it is very simple for me, I have missed her input. Since not a single one of us has the answer to what happened to Maura, I think it takes all of us even if we disagree to provide any valid points to further arrive closer to what really happened when Maura disappeared, without a trace in Haverhill 2004.

I don't disbelieve you. I was trying to help you. I confirm for those who doubt you that Junker was a professor at UW back then. I think he is stil there, so it would be easy enough to come up with that name and determine how long he'd been teaching there, but nonetheless, I believe you.

You did however say a few days ago that you were teaching law. Maybe you do that in Kentucky and I got confused about where you were, but you definitely said it.(and no I wont go wade through old posts to find it).

Hey John, really. If it makes you feel better, assume I'm not a lawyer or a law professor. Please make yourself comfortable.

Just don't ask me to explain to you the Rule Against Perpetuities or the Rule in Shelly's case.

And would you please stop with the "Interesting idea. Very well constructed," bullshit. You're embarrassing yourself with comments like that whether you know it or not.

You sound like every know-it-all-who-knows-nothing asshole that ever lived. Just a word to the wise, son.

Well, s____ you. First of all, it appeared to me that Paris and others were accusing you of not being who you said you were. At least one post addressed to one of my comments questioned directly whether you are the person you say you are. So my comment was intended to state that I would know someone invovled with the U Dub law community and I believe you were. If you find offense enough in that to write such a nasty message, I think you show yourself to be a freak.

Second, your comment about me embarrassing myself embarrasses you. I acknowledge things that other people say in polite ways. Its called social skills, which some of your posts demonstrate you lack.

You are an idiot.

Not exactly. What I'm saying is that we've been told by her supervisor that there is no way she could have been out driving and hit Vasi, due to the fact that a supervisor checks the security desks every 20 minutes. That would seem to give Maura an airtight alibi. But we don't know how exact and truthful the supervisor was.
Was the alibi information posted on the ex-MMM forum? Is that where it came from originally? Have LE ever corroborated this information?

And by the way Fred, you DEFINITELY said you taught law at UW. But when you found I went there, you backed off to bs like "i might have led a CLE there" and "I debated the death penalty with a prosecutor once."

Call me out for acknowledging people's comments. You ought to try social skills before you knock them you a_______.

John, Kentucky is backwards and some would say it's due to too much inbreeding. Call it a quiet area in the gene pool.
Guess what? They have schools here. They even have law schools.
What a concept, huh?
That's it, unless you want to play I'll tell you my SSN, if you'll tell me yours.
Jesus H. Christ on a bicycle, dude, get real.

Hey, I'm actually a clown and I like to role play and make fun of people. I never went to no school. I just learned by watching the TeeVee. That and eating all the acid I could find and going to Grateful Dead concerts. Did you ever eat acid, John? Did you ever go to a Grateful Dead Concert?

Trust me, those are good ideas, well constructed.

Don't take it personally. I'm just having fun at your expense. I freaking nuts.

Let's see, was it the brown acid or the blue?

Damnit, I always get them mixed up.

Cheers.

How does it feel grasshopper?
