Sorry et al, you won't drag me into it. I've observed enough to know better ;) I hope you all laughed enough at the web site I listed to lighten up. I realise laughter is so important, as is a helping hand, even unsolicited at times. No harm, no foul.

What I was saying Wowzer - is that people have posted that prior to the recent law 2007 - per you - that people only needed a drivers license

I think that is very scary for national security. Since prior to 9/11 and certainly after - the Western States require proof of citizenship and a drivers license does not do that.

Not a hard time reading - just thinking how many knew that went across illegally.......... scary thought for our national security

If a you had a family member missing by my house you are always welcome to search.
People are taking things out of context
Back to Maura - I am simply stating if it happened - your missing that part of the post - if it happened by my house - search away. Its my property I can offer it up if I want to. It didn't happen by my house.
I know lots of people helped - what I am stating has even been made in the articles - don't kill the messanger - some did not like people searching and one person said search once - twice the limit... In MY PERSONAL OPINION - THAT IS NOT ENOUGH.... if you don't agree - please SOB

My two points

1) I think that searches should be made - my opinion - even multiple searches

2) the locals have been great - I have read about the last search and donated food, housing, dog food etc

3) try to bring light to the fact she didn't head off to Canada - which I was told my one of the locals here on forum that is what alot of the locals think.

4) I tried to gain facts to see how difficult that would be to travel and remain anon in Canada.

Dawn, I'm convinced at this very moment that you need the last word...in every single post you write.
I'll scroll if I wish; I'll allow searches/or not if I wish; I'll state my opinion if I wish...and please, by all means, enjoy the freedom to be/and do/and believe as you wish.

While I am at it -
Again.
Fred and I have resolved our issues - he posted this also - if we have it resolved - its a mute issue.
Same goes for Johnny - his choice.
Carry on
We have great news about the task force and the hearing that took place yesterday - and everyone wants to focus elsewhere. I simply stated a fact you need citizenship and the band wagon said no. so I pointed out - national security was compromised if that is true....... and sad for everyone of us.

I haven't been to CA for about two years but before that I liked to shop in the huge mall they have and I also liked visiting the Granby Zoo.
I never had to show a birth certificate and just once was asked to show a license with a picture.
I was asked where I was going, what I was planning to do and how long I was staying. That's it! I do believe it's finally gone through recently that you do need a passport now to go over the CA border.
How strange that you have always had to show citizenship to cross over.
Tell me you went to LaRonde also, prior to it becoming a Six Flaggs! I LOVE the Granby zoo---I sitll own a house (ok.....225 year old structure) in St. Etienne de Bolton...right outside of Granby.

While on the topic of searches and asking permission of property owners. I have NEVER EVER been asked by anyone doing any search if they could search my land in Mtn. Lakes. So either people are passing on and through without asking permission (which by the way would tick me off) or aren't searching thoroughly. In fact, nobody has ever even enlisted my help for a search, yet I could show you many trails in that area and different places that would be of interest to the searches. Get the locals who own snowmobiles and ATV's involved in the searches--don't rely on people who don't know the area well.

What would be enough for you? Since most of the immediate area has been searched more than once by people and dogs what's next?
Maybe randomly strip search everyone monthly that lives within a mile or two of where Maura's car was found for say the next 5 or 10 years?
If that's not enough maybe digging their yards up on a yearly basis with a backhoe would help. This should include flower and veggie gardens. This should probably go on for an additional 10 years.
I would think that if an area has been searched more than once with no results it would be time to move the search to another area. But then that's just me and my two cents which is probably not wanted or needed but stated just for the hell of it anyway. Have a nice day.

No I never went to LaRonde. But I share your love of the zoo. It's a great place. Lucky you to own a house nearby. Sometimes older homes have much more charm than the new ones.

My post was a simple reply to yours reply Wowzer saying you would allow one maybe two - if people look back I even compared that to losing a diamond - ring - one would hope to search more than twice. Digging up yards has never once mentioned by me. Oh my - where did those words come from
Since I haven't been involved in the searches - I can only say what I would do - again if it happened by house.
I have compassion for the family and the local community - always have since I have been on here. So many cases have been closed from a single clue - an earing etc.
Sorry that others decide to see it other wise. I have been very supportive and if others fail to see so - that I have no control over. I will still look for ways to help fund the next search - even being on the opposite coast. For me its the right thing to do.
Have a wonderful day.
I have seen many times people saying that new comers are not welcome... Interesting.. Always wondered what they meant......... ah ha.. I see now.. I never felt this way until now and its a shame. I will keep doing what I have been doing and reaching out to the media and making efforts that I think could help get resolution.

No sir, and if I did I would not be the one driving the car. Plus, it would be much longer.

Shack,

I got your e-mail...lol...too late!

I'm heading off to work and shut down the rest of my windows except for this so I figured I'd reply here.

I'm pretty sure Maura would have done exactly the same thing had the task/request been bestowed upon her without so much as a second thought or a complaint.

I see a lot of Maura in myself and that's why I'm here.

I checked with the Peace Arch crossing and they do require citizenship. We did have a potential terrorist - bomb in the trunk try to pass through.
VERY CONCERNING for our national security that border crossings on the East - let you go through no problem... So national security sure goes out the window - travel to NH, VT or MA - and you can cross. After 9/11 and where the planes took off - I am VERY shocked they are NOT following protocol. Which it is protocol to ensure citizenship.......... Scary indeed. Makes one wonder
Dawn..be aware that all of my border crossings were up WA Route 395 from Spokane through Colville to British Columbia. It's east of you, but only by about 300 miles. The most they ever asked was a driver's license.
