interesting.

like Quija, bless her, i don't consistently adhere to one possibility or another with regard to Maura's disappearance.
i absorb the entire conversation, and move toward or away from what i read.
like you, my husband will read for new information.
in this instance, i tend to agree with FC's reasoning, and have previously argued vigorously against the violation of Maura's privacy.
the, again, i look to WTF and Wowzer, and am inclined to move toward the simple evidence and resulting logic.
go figure.

smart; great writing and debating skills; a good grasp on reality; and a historical perspective.
what's your opinion on the youtube link that Mason/Fred posted about Billy?

Thanks for saying the nice things about me. I had not seen the video, so I just now watched it. Hmmm. I never know how to characterize myself, so to simplify I usually just mumble - fiscally conservative/ socially liberal. The real truth is that I think they are all slime and I don't vote. Also I am VERY conservative on some non fiscal issues so ... As a non Democrat in eastern MA I mainly keep my mouth shut and my head down. In the last election I did one vote: to ban greyhound racing. So about Billy I totally agree with him on the war and in fact demonstrated against the first Gulf War - 1990/91. So you can imagine how I feel about the current Gulf War. But unlike Billy and so many others I do not think Obama walks on water and I do not support certain of his programs. I am an activist but not a political one since my cause is independent of party affiliation.

I am including myself in that group of people. Are you involved in the investigation in some official capacity? Are you LE? A private investigator? UMass security? If the answer is no, then my statement stands.
There have been questions I have asked family members that they have been unwilling or uncomfortable to answer. That is their right, their prerogative if you will, and I'm ok with that. Because I understand that, as a civilian with no special training, there's not actively a whole lot I can realistically do to help find Maura. What I can do, I try to do.
What am I doing here? I am here to try to educate people--to help people try to keep facts straight, to clarify rumours or misinformation. That's all I've ever been on Topix for. What was I doing on other MM forums? Maintaining a "web presence" for Maura, so to speak. That's what the family created the website for, not to end a sentence with a preposition Quija...lol....I participated in those forums to come up with whatever ideas I could, and occasionally to do logistical help (like when Helena couldn't deal with an Excel spreadsheet) but mostly to let the family know I was there, that I cared, that Maura was not forgotten.
I have no illusions that anything I provide may help find Maura. It would be wonderful if it does, but I wouldn't presume. My job is mostly to let the family know that Maura is loved and remembered--and also to keep wrong information from being perpetuated as fact.
Firecat,

While I admire your efforts to keep the facts straight, you clearly are biased in your posts. And I don't mean that in a bashing way, just trying to be honest.

I can understand the family not wanting to talk about "things" but what the heck? They have a treasure trove of people trying to figure out what happened to Maura, which in itself is very unusual. Usually people lose interest after all the info has dried up. Maura's disappearance has held strong on the internet since 2004. That to me is incredible.

Whatever is known on the "inside" is obviously at a standstill. You can't knock people for wanting more info. to go on. Most everyone here is trying to help. Most everyone here is going in circles.

If the family does not want the attention or the invasion of privacy, then maybe the MMM forum, FIT, WHATEVER needs to stop responding.

And nobody makes you respond 800 times, so you only need to be annoyed at your self.

Was my grammar O.K? It only took me 15 minutes to post a few paragraphs, making sure I sounded OK for you.

XOXO
Suzanne

I have to say the main POLITICAL reason to ban dog racing is to block the slots. It's a good vote for the dogs, too, obviously, so I'm happy about that, but the political part is about the slots.

I know Barry Sternlicht put some money in the Lincoln RI deal a few years ago, but was he involved in the Raynham track, too?

I totally agree with everything you said. And I too watch my spelling knowing that FC might be reading. As for grammar, I gave up on that a long time ago. Grammar is so, so,... yesterday, so dated, so schoolmarmish. It's interesting that my less than perfect grammar has never stopped me from being published. I guess my editors are as grammar challenged as I am.

Of course I'm biased. EVERYONE'S got a bias, in one direction or another.(or sometimes several.) Bias is part of being human. Everyone has a perspective, a point of view. Truly objective reasoning doesn't exist. It's why Spock was so fascinating, on Star Trek (and he was most fascinating when he was at his most human).

Suzanne, I normally agree with you 110 percent, but on this one I have to disagree. According to Harold Bloom, Firecat wrote Map of Misreading and Anxiety of Influence, so she really wrote the whole dang book on subtext. She often reminds me of Eve Kosofsky Sedgwick.

Some editors are. I've seen some pretty sloppy grammar in mainstream, international media of all sorts--newspapers, websites, books, you name it.

Maybe that's why I don't read/watch fiction.

I am not biased. Nor is my mind made up on what happened.

Good subject (star trek) dodger though!

You know, Suzanne, that's the second time you've brought up the issue of publication (the first was when you asked me if I had ever been published).

What does that have to do with anything? Trying to make yourself feel better about something? Trying to let us know that you're smart and accomplished and successful?(And that jibe about "those who can't, teach"? Wow. Like I haven't heard THAT before. Usually by someone who doesn't understand what it takes to be a college professor.) I never would have doubted--or even cared, one way or the other--if you hadn't kept harping on it. Example: Dawn is very obviously good at what she does--half the time when she's talking about her work I have no clue what she's saying, because she's so good at it and I'm so bad at it--but do I give a crap or accuse her of being elitist and rubbing it in my face? No--because I don't care that she's good at it. Her being good at it doesn't make me feel like less of a person. In fact, I'm THRILLED that there are people like Dawn around who are good at that stuff, so I don't have to be. Also, in this situation, she's darn handy to have around when we're talking about Maura's cell phone.

Ditto White Wash. She's the first to admit she's not as comfortable writing a sentence as she is taking a photo. And damn, the girl can shoot. Does that make me feel bad? I will admit to a certain yearning, a wish that I could be a better photographer. But do I attack WW for being better than I at it? No. So posts like several of your recent ones, while distracting me from Maura's case, also make me wonder what the hell your beef is. Seriously. Have you said ANYTHING on this forum that's about Maura? My recollection of your posts is that they are mainly to insult individuals and to trash long-time posters of previous MMM forums.

funny - Fred and Johnny don't have a problem... wonder why someone else does...?I don't know.. I hit a nerve .. so that is telling....
Hellooooooooooo. Is anyone home in there?????
Maybe others have a problem because YOU keep bringing the crap up out of the blue long after it's been forgotten and then blame others for starting it.
Since this is a public forum and you keep posting it publicly that makes it everyone's business.
Everyone can make their own choice if they want to chance you tracking their IP addy or not by e-mailing you. You said it so now deal with it.
Now for God's sake will you forget about it and stop bringing it up. It's getting way beyond annoying.

And yet so much else of what you post here is bitter, acrimonious, and vitriolic. And I'm struggling to understand where it's coming from. This is one of the few posts where I haven't seen you angry. What's up with that?? It's like you came in here ready programmed to hate a whole bunch of people.

These are code words. Sientologists always bring up Star Trek. It's like a secret Masonic handshake. When they watch Star Trek, they think they are watching the History Channel.

It's why the guy who probably killed Bish was in contact with a Sientologist originally from Michigan who moved or intended to move to Miami and then ended up in a small town in Wyoming.

Like N GRATTA. And the language of the Klingons.

And the tonal scales book bought by Tony Creamer.

The Clams are always trying to deceive and latch themselves onto a missing person's case. They are big into Search and Rescue (SAR).
