Okay, say you're HPD. You call UMass PD with the sticker #. They tell you who the sticker is issued to. They might even know her personally. The car's owner is old enough to be the sticker holder's father. The sticker holder is a CURRENT Umass female student, about 21 years old. This takes about 5 minutes for HPD to put together.
By 8 PM Monday HPD must have known, with help from UMass PD, who was most likely driving the Saturn. HPD would not have ASSUMED that Fred, whose address was, IIRC, in eastern MA, and whose age was 50-60, was driving the student's car, although he certainly could have been. But keep in mind that the local police, Amherst and maybe UMass PD, had been all over the Corolla by then.
Late Thursday night, there's a possible case of motor vehicle homicide, operator unknown (left scene). This is a serious crime. Police do not dismiss this kind of case from their minds for at least a few days after it has happened. They are looking for a car that may have hit Vasi. And the guilty operator knows this.
Sunday morning, just off campus in the next town, Hadley, there's an early AM crash, driver distraction, no OUI, car towed to hotel.
Monday, mulitple cops are all over Corolla, registered to Fred, at body shop.
Monday night, Saturn, registered to Fred, found in Haverhill, NH.
The above is not a comment on Fred or Maura. It's a comment on what might have been communicated between HPD and UMass PD.

Because I was a newbie, now that I look back, no wonder the family ignored my offer of search(es) within my lake(s) area(s) according to Lake Associations. Just before the October 2006 Search, I suggested a search of my NH property, just to show area others of compliance of empathy?/apathy?. One woman in Benton,(LB) even wrote an editorial in JO as to questioning why some of the populous was resistance of area searches, and putting up "no trespassing" signs.
Sometime recently, a Poster declared that no way that anyone was gonna tear up their land searching over n over for Maura.. I, and anyone with whom I have discussed this, within my neighbors and lake owners have said "No problem"...I do know that if this happened within feet or miles of my home here in MAss, or at Lake....I, and as well as my MA/NH neighbors, would be more than receptive....
If Maura is with the earth, she isn't with the Swiss chard, Tomatoes or Tulips/Crocus....she would be with with Mountain Laurel, Spattadock , Cat Tails, Skunk Cabbage or Fiddlehead Ferns. I say, dig, tromp, scoop, cut....whatever it takes...(fence off your formal English Garden)
Yes, I do believe that Maura didn't do away with herself.....Yes, I believe that Maura didn't relocate for another life...Yes, I believe that Maura is in heaven, not of her choice. Yes, I believe that a dirt bag's communicant will eventually reveal.. And, Yes, my feelings of my ol' NH have been tainted....seemingly "Of, By and For the people" are just words...

Peri?Scooter?Elsewhere?..you reminded me again for millionth time about the term FIT. The term FIT does, and has appeared to irritate some....Forum Investigative Team......which just goes to show insecurities....that some feel/felt left out. All on the Forum(s) were/are the Forum Investigative Team. It started November 2004.
Hundreds of Posters signed on to the Forum(s) all trying to help find out what happened to Maura.........It isn't a club to which a password, is needed to join. All forum posters were/are the team ....investigating....
