I am curious. You mentioned asking your uncle about the car. I would imagine that would have been the talk of the town and everyone knows all the details. Certainly in 5 (five) years you have talked to him about it.
Why was this not in your article??? curious that is big item that could be listed as "fact".
Something we need more of in this case.
Facts. We don't need no stinking facts. They mess up our ideas!

We might solve this case, if we had facts, and then what would we do?

A fundamental fact that many here are unaware of - the first Maura forum which started in 2004 enthusiastically discouraged any discussion of Amherst and any mention of Vasi sent people ballistic. Pike was treated like garbage because he was persistent in bringing up Amherst, he was a highly intelligent and frequent contributor of original ideas but he often brought Amherst into the mix. He in fact was so dissed and humiliated that he just gave up and went away. Forever. Discussion of Amherst was frowned upon and mention of Vasi was anathema. Why? I believe this directive was from Fred to Helena. I believe Helena was intimidated by Fred. My opinion only.

Just as a phony example, only to illustrate a point...

When you live in a small to medium sized town/city that is being discussed by posters in an online thread or forum who, at least apparently, do not live there, it's always amazing how self-confirming the distant posters are about their knowledge of the far away town. they claim to know what's relevant and what's not. And they openly scoff at the honest input of any local poster that contradicts them. The Gownies are right, the Townies are wrong.

They, the Gownies, breeze right past stuff like the effect of local politics and business. As if it didn't even exist.

Suppose, for example, the local police chief has been at war for ten years with the local health inspector and her best friend who is chairman of the selectboard. This is something the significance of which is immediately grasped by the local community, but is entirely lost on the many distant posters.

And generally, there's no way to convey the history and complexity of it. In the end, conflicts LIKE this occasionally have bad results, such as someone goes missing or otherwise gets hurt. This kind of thing could be the result of a grudge match that began over a girl friend in high school. "All politics is local" is not an idle statement.

I'd definitely agree with most of that, but the intimidation of Helena by Fred I believe to be untrue. Or at least unnecessary.

The classic case of Town - Gown conflict was the Nicholas Garza disappearance in Middlebury Vt. It was sickening to see the senseless and over the top vicious bashing of the Middlebury police chief by posters who would not even be able to find Middlebury on a map. It turned out that Garza slipped on an icy slope, into a fast moving river and drowned. No foul play.

You are right. Intimidation is too strong of a word. I think she just tried very hard to please him. And she knew he did not want the Amherst/Vasi angle explored.

Keep in mind - no surprise to most - I'm a huge proponent of keeping Amherst in the discussion, right along with Haverhill and other potential places. However...

Maybe there was a very good reason to deflect discussion away from Amherst, a reason I might even fully agree with and be very sympathetic to.

The whole Amherst thing might be more complicated than a lot of people realize.

Figured this was as sane as any to post?

Pardon for not reading further, but just bursting with news, which has hopefully already being discussed here. i.e.the District Attorney's Office of New Hampshire announcing a cold case squad and seems Vermont is interested in the same. It is a great day, is is not?

Think, the heat got a little hot around the collar

No foul play, that is not what the news reported, well not recently anyway. His death is highly suspicious, and that is understated?

Dawn? I called my personal cellphone with a land line in the same room. I used a calling card. I dialed the 1-800, entered the pin and then entered my cell number. The caller ID gave the name and number of the phone in my other hand. When did this change, do you know?
I have always sworn that using a calling card cannot fail and is a great way to call someone you don't want knowing who you are..........

Helena knew Fred did not want the Amherst/Vasi angle explored? Maybe that's true, I don't have any idea.

However, I do know a number of (very local) things that SURROUND Maura's disappearance. For example, I feel quite confident that if anyone with Maura Murray's best interest at heart ever believed what was told to them by a certain PI, then the truth may be a long time in coming out, if it ever does.

I'm sorry to have to disagree with you again Peri but Nicholas Garza's case is not an uncommon type of winter accident amongst inebriated youth, the identical scenario occurred just 3 weeks ago to a 19 year old woman in Val d' Isere. She slipped into a stream and drowned on her way home in the dark.

Sorry Peri,

I do not believe the majority of posters know what you are talking about. I did not post those news articles on this thread, figured it would get buried.

I was surprised to learn there are 100 unsolved homicides in New Hampshire and 24 unsolved homicides in Vermont. According to statistics both states are somewhat identical and joined together shoulder to hip.

I will hope the state of New Hampshire receives the necessary federal funding to forge ahead with a cold case squad. I understand that Montreal recently started up a cold case squad with John Allore's, his sister's murder is one of the cold cases in Montreal, urging through his efforts and petitions. I also understand that Canada treats every missing persons case as a homicide.

I don't agree, I brought forward the Vasi theory to the forum along with others, it was not discouraged, other than to figure, Maura was not diving, she was at her post at the security desk, the timing of the incidents are coincidential and worthy exporling, i.e was someone else driving Maura's car? No investigation was discouraged in Amherst that I was aware of,none at all. Vasi has admitted to not knowing Maura. Therefore, I do not understand from whence you asserts stem?
