Yep. How does one cut their own throat? Unless it was murder/suicide......but, even then, same thing applies. I guess "one" could cut their own throat. It's always made me wonder if it was staged.

If they spent any time in that area, maybe someone will see this and recognize her.

What? Maybe I'm not reading this correctly or I'm missing something but when you say this: "I didn't realise Maura had friends in the town..." what are you referring to?

I think it would be a big step for a family member to talk openly with a stranger regarding the case.

I just can't imagine - having one of the Murrays over and pulling up her official missing persons website - www.mauramissing.com . That the family created.

If it was my sister and that was pulled up - just my opion - I would have walked out. I would just want to comfort them. I think the family is painfully aware of www.mauramissing.com .

Then I posted the message that you copied. I didn't realise that Maura had friends in Haverhill (Anne) because I said she had been a stranger - meaning not known her until after the accident - meaning otherwise would not have met.

I stand to be corrected.

She said her sister Kathleen was not aware that the song "For Maura" was on a site and played it for her twice. I was bewildered because I would certainly think her sister knew it was on a site - because it is on her official missing persons site. www.mauramurray.com . My personal opinion is that it would be hurtful to show Maura's site. When she was family and would be painfully aware of the site.

I must be phrasing things wrong. Citigirl is appauled when I said I would allow searches - even bring them coffee and make them sandwich if I lived there... so go figure.

It sounds as if Kathleen *asked* to go to the site when she found out the song was on it.

I'm having trouble following your line of questioning lately, Dawn, to be completely honest. And I also don't think Citigirl was appalled that you said you would allow searches, so I think there is DEFINITELY some lapse in communucation happening somewhere.

I have seen documentation of people who have cut their own throat committing suicide. There are often characteristic “hesitation marks” typically found during a suicide. Not always but often. Also the way the knife was drawn across the throat can go a long way to determining if it was suicide or not. It is not rocket science and any ME should be able to make that determination.

I'll throw this into the mess also. I know that we were told that my mother in law could not go into Canada because she didn't have a birth certificate. She was born out of the country and came here when she was about 8 months old. So - no birth certificate. They said we needed to get her naturalization papers. It was hell trying to get her records of her naturalization from around 1930. Took a year as I remember. This was prior to 9/11.

I will let it go. However, I still find it hard to believe " she found out" the song was on the site. The posts never said she asked to hear it. The post said she played it for her twice - then the follow up said she didn't know the song was on a site. Stikes me as odd - since it was on the family website. Not sure what is hard to follow on those ones - pretty straight forward. So I asked... I thought she was a stranger too prior to the accident - but you corrected me - so I'm not assuming that.She also had a copy of the song - she held a small boom box playing it.

Seems odd to me - having a sister - I just think under the circumstances - just odd.

Read back to the post that Citigirl was appauled to.. I dunno - I was PRO searches and was trying to point out that some locals - don't want people going on their property year after year... I was trying to point out - that I would not mind if people searched my land - would even feed them. I would want them to find Maura - and the perp - before he strikes again.

here is some interesting info going back to 04 regarding crossing the canadian border. Looks like by boat is different - similar to a cruise I believe.

it does appear citizenship has been a requirement - birth cert, passport

Again - the reason we are looking into this to see if it was POSSIBLE Maura went to Canada.

Dawn, I don't mean to put you on the defensive... you've made some really great posts and have been supportive.

It's easy, when word is being read, for things to be taken out of context.

What jumped out at me was your statement that Maura had friends in town - prior to her disappearance.

This was not the case.......unless you are aware of something that isn't known.

I don't think it unusual - at all - that her sister wasn't aware of the website's song. It has been said before that Maura's immediate family don't (didn't) follow the forum.

Can one only imagine how painful that would be? In the early days, there were other members of the family. As time goes on, it becomes more and more painful to rehash information on a forum.

Maura's immediate family is aware of the diligence that Helena has pursued Maura's case. Helena became - on behalf of the immediate family - the point of contact. If I had an immediate family member disappear, I could only hope that there would be someone in my extended family who would not only take on the pursuit but have the foresight of mind and the commitment to do so.

I've never understand those who repeatedly make the point of Helena not ever having met Maura. This hasn't been a secret....it's on Maura's MySpace page. But, WHO CARES??? What's the POINT in that? The Murray family, I'm sure, is grateful that Helena stepped into the role on their behalf.

Since Maura's disappearance, there have been many relationships that have developed. I don't know the circumstance in why Kathleen was at Anne's but I presume this to be the case.

As far as it's known, Maura didn't have friends in the area prior to her disappearance.

If anyone knows otherwise, please let it be known.

Thanks Bill. Living 5 minutes from the Border - I went across the border at least 3 times a month. All the agents knew me but I always had to show citizenship - drivers license can be obtained with a green card or a traveling visa. It only shows you are legal to drive - does not say you are a citizen of the USA

Then Firecat - came back that how did I know that Anne didn't know the Murrays......... Obviously she knew them - they were at her home. However, prior to the accident they were strangers - and that was my poing.

It appeard that I was being corrected by firecat that I was "assuming" they didn't know each other.

It was pretty black and white to me - they were strangers - and was befriended after she talked about the call. Prior to that a stranger - so go figure.

Cant win for losing.

I still wouldn't have pulled up the website - even if I knew the person 1 day, 1 year or my entire life. I think it would be too painfull. The comment was "she didn't know it was on a site" The site is the family website and it even has a picture of Kathleen.

Back to work. Taking a break for awhile.

I still would to see if anyone can answer the questions I have put out there.

I have asked MANY questions that go ignored on how we can help from afar. Sad.. but I never get a reply. I am happy to send funds to help with the search.

I have also stated that it doesn't matter that Helena never met Maura. I think it is wonderful that after she became a Murray - she saw a need to get awareness for Maura and try to help as best as she could

As I said, you've been very energetic and provided a lot of insight and I know I've appreciated reading what you post.

As far as people not answering to some of your posts, I think it's that people don't know what to say to some things. Please don't take it personal.

Bill, I had a dentist several years back....she committed suicide by injecting herself in the throat with novacaine ......you made me remember this. It was horific and surprise to many. Very sad.
