Dawn,

Please know that I do agree with you in respect to the fact that Maura did not run away and start a new life in Canada.

You have always needed a birth certificate. I lived in a border town. It was not until RECENTLY you need a passport. You have always had to show citizenship. It was the same for Mexico. This has been the case since 2000 when I purchased my home. After 9/11 even more so - which of course was prior to 2004.
what border crossing do you think she would have passed through. I am happy to contact them.

Hey white wash....good to see you!

It's been awhile since we've heard from you!

Seems like months?

Or weeks?

Or days?

I'll hazard a guess here and say......approximately sometime last year......

I haven't been to CA for about two years but before that I liked to shop in the huge mall they have and I also liked visiting the Granby Zoo.
I never had to show a birth certificate and just once was asked to show a license with a picture.
I was asked where I was going, what I was planning to do and how long I was staying. That's it! I do believe it's finally gone through recently that you do need a passport now to go over the CA border.
How strange that you have always had to show citizenship to cross over.
Wowzer
I checked with the Peace Arch crossing and they do require citizenship. We did have a potential terrorist - bomb in the trunk try to pass through.

VERY CONCERNING for our national security that border crossings on the East - let you go through no problem... So national security sure goes out the window - travel to NH, VT or MA - and you can cross. After 9/11 and where the planes took off - I am VERY shocked they are NOT following protocol. Which it is protocol to ensure citizenship.......... Scary indeed. Makes one wonder

Sorry not to ensure citizenship

To secure the USA's security.

Considering how many people have said no problem in crossing on the East.......... Sure others who want to cross would know this. The WA/Canada border is VERY strict - and NO not just for me Wowzer - for EVERYONE. We have a town in Canada - Port Roberts - it is actually part of the US - the school kids cross 2 times everyday - going to school and returning home.......... They can apply for a Nexus pass - which requires showing a legitamate need - job/school - after a very intensive background check. I have several friends who work for the border control -
You must be LEGAL to cross - only way to show is citizenship. Why I have never once had a problem nor have I ever had to have my car searched.

The law was passed Jan 1st to require a passport - I am just shocked for over 8 years - one could just pass no problem.

The entire topic was related to Maura - not how a possible terrorist could just walk across for 8 years........ unbelievable

I do NOT think Maura traveled to Canada - that is what the whole conversation was about and turned into tit for tat about border crossing. However, it does bring up a very important issue that should have been addressed years ago.

I am VERY curios why this behaviour was allowed. Not just pertaining to Maura......... however - this is just damn scary .. If you don't need one to get across - then you couldn't get back without it but seems that was no problem or we would have alot of americans stuck in Canada - since we aer not allowed to work there without a visa - you have to prove that they have a job that only you can do. That a natural Canadian citizen can't do. It is WAY more difficult for us to work there than vice versa............ I am a litle ticked off to say the least 8 damn years............ good grief.

Dawn please go back and read post 15627 on pg 776 and stop bringing this PM /IP crap up again and again. You are making it my business by bringing it up all the time on replies to me. Get over it!!!
I will spell it out for you.......... They know who I am. I have never posted before. Sorry if that makes you a bit paranoid - I sleep well at night. This is the only forum I have posted on. I have been in favor of being positive - glass always half full for me - negative nellys don't just don't help. I will drop it. It would be really nice to see an uplifting or positive post come from your way once in awhile. That is the absolute truth. I have actually tried to help you in several posts - on how others would see you in a more positive light - not always how your post are perceived - perception is everying and something out of your control really - other than to change actions.

Yes I agree with you about Canadian Citizenship. I can easily provide many reasons why it is difficlt to lead a productive life in Canada without it.

Dawn ~ I think we've had a similar conversation once before. Accusing someone of paranoia without any basis in fact is over the top.

By my personal knowledge and direct experience, Wowzer's contributions and thinking are lucid, highly informed, intelligent, often humorous and quite helpful.

There are now pages and pages of posts that reflect unnecessarily dramatic and negatively engaging, personal attacks by more than one poster directed to local residents.

Consider that we are guests in their community, even by way of a forum.
By the way, my private property is not open to searches at your whim, either.

Just curious, do you have problems with your vision? I'm trying to figure how you only see what you want to see and not what is actually written.
Didn't I say that a passport is now needed to cross the border? Where do you see that I said you can cross over without it and that protocol isn't being followed?
You're making some very harmful and totally untrue accusations.

Snowy, a helping hand is what I offered to one in need. Communication via a written format requires the proper spelling as well as proper use of grammar to comprehend the words written. Consider these:
I haven't had any male this week.
Farmer bill dies in House.
You will need larger bowels if you double the recipe

Dear John:

I want a man who knows what love is all about. You are generous, kind, thoughtful. People who are not like you admit to being useless and inferior. You have ruined me for other men. I yearn for you. I have no feelings whatsoever when we're apart. I can be forever happy - will you let me be yours?

After reading some of your past posts I think your energy would be best spent in helping yourself instead of me. I think I'll be fine since my reason for being here was only to be of help as far as answering questions about the area, woods, roads, people etc.etc.I couldn't care less if my posts are uplifting or not. If I see someone spouting off untruths as facts then I will say something whether it's viewed as positive or negative. That's just me and I doubt I will change after all this time so as you have told me several times it is really none of your business. Actually anything about me is none of your business so let's keep it that way OK?
Feel free to SOB my posts since they seem to bug the crap out of you.

Hey Grammar Check, White Wash has been such a valuable resource for us all in so many ways! Her MM photos are great and she is dedicated to the facts/the truth. Can't ask for much more than that!(Grammar is great, but lower priority for sure!)

Must be nice to think you're so smart that you can belittle others in front of an audience.
And why doesn't it surprise me to see that some think it's funny to belittle and hurt someone's feelings.

it is obvious that WW struggles with her ability to communicate well in writing.
your ridicule and insensitivity marks you as less, not more intelligent.
i hope she will continue to share her thoughts with us in spite of your ignorance.
